Ru: В тихом пригороде, где дома стояли в ровные ряды, проходила негласная борьба за звание лучшего украшения для праздников.
En: In the quiet suburb where houses stood in neat rows, an unspoken competition for the title of best holiday decoration was taking place.

Ru: Иван, живущий в маленьком красном доме, всегда ставил себе амбициозную цель – стать чемпионом в этой игре.
En: Ivan, living in a small red house, always set himself the ambitious goal of becoming the champion in this game.

Ru: На крыше Ивана красовался огромный надувной Санта-Клаус.
En: On Ivan’s roof was a huge inflatable Santa Claus.

Ru: Он был его гордостью и радостью, привлекая внимание проходящих мимо соседей.
En: It was his pride and joy, attracting the attention of passing neighbors.

Ru: Но поскольку приближался День Благодарения, Иван решил, что пора убрать Санту с крыши, чтобы избежать его печального спускания и порчи вида украшения.
En: But since Thanksgiving was approaching, Ivan decided that it was time to take Santa down from the roof to avoid its sad deflation and ruining the decoration’s appearance.

Ru: В этот прохладный осенний день с намеком на зиму он взобрался на крышу.
En: On this chilly autumn day with a hint of winter, he climbed onto the roof.

Ru: Лёгкий иней покрывал черепицу, освещая его путь к Санте.
En: A light frost covered the shingles, lighting his path to Santa.

Ru: В руках был набор инструментов, готовых к задачам.
En: In his hands was a set of tools, ready for the tasks.

Ru: Но что-то пошло не так.
En: But something went wrong.

Ru: Маленькая белка появилась ниоткуда.
En: A little squirrel appeared out of nowhere.

En: It was nimble and playful, but seemed to have a personal interest in Ivan’s tools.

En: It snatched a screwdriver, and Ivan, frowning, pondered how to deal with this furry nuisance.

En: Excited, he began pouring a trail of nuts on the ground.

En: When everything was ready, the squirrel became interested in the treat and followed the path of peanuts.

En: But the crafty rascal, realizing it was a trap, quickly returned to the top.

En: A funny chase began on the roof.

En: Ivan leaped over vent pipes and pushed aside garlands in attempts to catch the rascal.
