Story Transcript:

Fi: Helsingin poliisilaitos oli vilkas paikka, vaikka ulkona paukkui pakkanen.
En: The Helsingin police station was a busy place, even though the frost was crackling outside.

Fi: Ihmiset kuiskivat keskenään, ja joulukoristeet koristivat yhä käytäviä.
En: People whispered to each other, and Christmas decorations still adorned the corridors.

Fi: Talon lämpö toivotti tervetulleeksi Aino, joka astui epäröiden sisään.
En: The warmth of the building welcomed Aino, who stepped in hesitantly.

Fi: Aino oli juuri muuttanut Helsinkiin mutta tunsi itsensä vieraaksi suuressa kaupungissa.
En: Aino had just moved to Helsinki but felt like a stranger in the big city.

Fi: Hän kaipasi lomalle rakkauden vuoksi jäänyttä työpaikkaansa.
En: She missed her job, which she had stayed at for love.

Fi: Vielä enemmän hän kaipasi lompakkoaan.
En: Even more, she missed her wallet.

Fi: Sen mukana oli kadonnut rakas valokuva, joka muistutti menneistä ajoista.
En: Along with it had disappeared a cherished photograph that reminded her of past times.

Fi: Hänen askeleensa veivät hänet Mattin työpisteelle.
En: Her steps took her to Matti's workstation.

Fi: Matti oli rauhallinen poliisi, jolla oli lämmin hymy.
En: Matti was a calm policeman with a warm smile.

Fi: "Hei, miten voin auttaa?"
En: "Hello, how can I help you?"

Fi: hän kysyi ystävällisesti.
En: he asked kindly.

Fi: "Menen pitkässä jonossa", Aino vastasi, hieman ujosti.
En: "I'm in a long line," Aino replied, a little shyly.

Fi: "Kadotin lompakkoni.
En: "I lost my wallet.

Fi: Mukana oli tärkeä kuva."
En: There was an important photo with it."

Fi: "Täytetään yhdessä katoamisilmoitus", Matti ehdotti rauhoittavasti.
En: "Let's fill out a missing report together," Matti suggested soothingly.

Fi: Kun he työskentelivät yhdessä, juttu alkoi luistaa.
En: As they worked together, the conversation began to flow.

Fi: Molemmat huomasivat jakavansa kiinnostuksen valokuvaukseen.
En: Both noticed that they shared an interest in photography.

Fi: Aino rentoutui.
En: Aino relaxed.

Fi: Matti teki olon turvalliseksi.
En: Matti made her feel safe.

Fi: Liisa, Mattin kollega, hymyili sivusta.
En: Liisa, Matti's colleague, smiled from the side.

Fi: Hän näki, että muutakin kuin asiakaspalvelua oli kehittymässä.
En: She saw that more than customer service was developing.

Fi: Pian Aino hyvästeli ja palasi kotiin miettien tapausta.
En: Soon Aino said goodbye and went back home, pondering the encounter.

Fi: Illalla ajatukset kääntyivät taas lompakkoon.
En: In the evening, her thoughts turned again to the wallet.

Fi: Unettomat tunnit kuluivat rauhattomana.
En: Sleepless hours passed restlessly.

Fi: Päivän vaihtuessa uudeksi vuodeksi, Ainon puhelin soi.
En: As the day turned into a new year, Aino's phone rang.

Fi: Matti soitti.
En: Matti called.

Fi: "Hyviä uutisia!"
En: "Good news!"

Fi: hän sanoi iloisesti.
En: he said cheerfully.

Fi: "Lompakkosi löytyi.
En: "Your wallet has been found.

Fi: Se on ehjä."
En: It's intact."

Fi: Aino huokaisi helpotuksesta ja kiitti monta kertaa.
En: Aino sighed with relief and thanked him many times.

Fi: "Voinko palauttaa sen sinulle...
