Story Transcript:

Fi: Jari istui ruokapöydän ääressä ja selaili kylän ilmoitustaulua.
En: Jari sat at the dining table browsing the village bulletin board.

Fi: Hänen silmiinsä osui ilmoitus: Piparkakkutalokilpailu.
En: His eyes caught an announcement: Gingerbread House Competition.

Fi: "Vapaa pääsy ja ilmaisia maistiaisia", luki siinä.
En: "Free entry and free tastings," it read.

En: He loved gingerbread and thought the event would be a fun way to spend the afternoon.

En: However, when Jari arrived at the place, a modern suburban community center, he realized he had made a big mistake.

En: This wasn't just an easy event for tasting gingerbread, but a fierce competition.

Fi: Pöydät olivat täynnä kilpailijoita ja heidän upeasti koristeltuja piparkakkutalojaan.
En: The tables were full of competitors and their beautifully decorated gingerbread houses.

Fi: Jari tunsi pienen paniikin hiipivän vatsansa pohjalle.
En: Jari felt a small panic creep into the pit of his stomach.

Fi: Mitä hän oli tehnyt?
En: What had he done?

Fi: Aino, Jarin innokas leipuriystävä, oli jo paikalla työn touhussa.
En: Aino, Jari's enthusiastic baker friend, was already there hard at work.

Fi: Hänen sormensa liikkuivat ketterästi piparkakkuväriaineiden ja pienten koristeiden parissa.
En: Her fingers moved nimbly among the gingerbread dyes and small decorations.

Fi: "Älä huoli, Jari", Aino sanoi ja hymyili rohkaisevasti.
En: "Don't worry, Jari," Aino said with an encouraging smile.

En: "We'll help you, and Eero is here to help with the structure."

Fi: Eero, Jarin naapuri, oli käytännöllinen mies.
En: Eero, Jari's neighbor, was a practical man.

En: He enjoyed watching chaos but couldn't resist helping when things got tangled.

Fi: "Olen hyvä rakentamaan", Eero sanoi itsevarmasti.
En: "I'm good at building," Eero said confidently.

En: "And no one will notice as long as we just have fun."

Fi: Jari katsoi rakennustyömaata salin toisella puolella.
En: Jari looked at the construction site on the other side of the hall.

Fi: Se aiheutti vibraatioita, jotka ravisutti pöytiä.
En: It caused vibrations that shook the tables.

Fi: Heidän pieni ryhmänsä aloitti työn piparkakkutalon rakentamisessa.
En: Their small group began working on building the gingerbread house.

En: Aino skillfully decorated the walls, adding color and design, while Eero was responsible for the stability of the house.

Fi: Kilpailu lähestyi loppuaan.
En: The competition was nearing its end.
