Id: Di bawah langit biru muda yang cerah, Dewi melangkah pelan menyusuri jalan setapak menuju kampung leluhurnya di Tana Toraja.
En: Under the bright pale blue sky, Dewi walked slowly along the path leading to her ancestral village in Tana Toraja.

En: Around her, stretches of green rice fields and tongkonan houses with majestic curved roofs welcomed her homecoming.

Id: Aroma dupa menyentuh indra penciumannya, mengiringi nyanyian lembut para tetua desa yang sudah mulai berkumpul.
En: The aroma of incense touched her sense of smell, accompanying the gentle songs of the village elders who had already begun gathering.

Id: Dewi menatap sekeliling dengan rasa campur aduk.
En: Dewi looked around with mixed feelings.

En: On one hand, she felt unfamiliar with all the traditions and symbols present, but on the other hand, there was a drive in her heart to become more acquainted with her cultural roots.

Id: Perasaan gamang dan penasaran bercampur menjadi satu.
En: A blend of unease and curiosity mixed into one.

Id: Raka, sepupunya, menyambut Dewi dengan hangat.
En: Raka, her cousin, greeted Dewi warmly.

Id: "Dewi, selamat datang kembali.
En: "Dewi, welcome back.

En: You must join in the preparations for today's ceremony," he said with a smile.

Id: Saat melihat senyum ramah Raka, Dewi merasa sedikit lebih tenang meski tetap gelisah.
En: Seeing Raka's friendly smile, Dewi felt a little calmer despite still being anxious.

En: Preparation for a funeral ceremony in Tana Toraja is not a simple affair.

Id: Semua anggota keluarga besar memiliki peran masing-masing.
En: All members of the extended family have their respective roles.

En: Pigs and buffaloes began to be gathered, important symbols in this ritual.

En: At the same time, beautiful woven cloths were prepared to decorate the tongkonan house and the ceremony site.

Id: Namun, Dewi merasa kesulitan mengikuti ritual yang aneh baginya.
En: However, Dewi found it difficult to follow rituals that were strange to her.
