Story Transcript:

Lv: Ziemas vakars Rīgas laukumā bija kā no sapņiem.
En: A winter evening in Rīga's square was like something out of a dream.

Lv: Lielās egles zariem rotāja spīdīgi lāstekas, un apkārt skanēja zvaniņu skaņas.
En: The branches of the large pine tree were adorned with shiny icicles, and the sound of bells echoed around.

Lv: Turpmākajā stendā sildījās vāroša vīna un piparkūku aromāts, apliecinošs, ka Ziemassvētki ir īsti klāt.
En: From a nearby stall came the warming aroma of mulled wine and gingerbread, confirming that Christmas was truly here.

Lv: Guna, Aivars un viņu mazais Matiss pastaigājās starp stendiem, meklējot kaut ko īpašu.
En: Guna, Aivars, and their little Matiss were walking among the stalls, looking for something special.

En: Guna could not exhaust the memory of her mother's warmth, which was so vivid.

En: It had already been a year, but the desire to renew a tradition her mother loved so much motivated her on this walk.

Lv: Viņa gribēja atrast to vienu ornamentu, kas atsauksies viņas sirdī.
En: She wanted to find the one ornament that would resonate with her heart.

Lv: Aivars, blakus Gunai, turēja Matissu pie rokas.
En: Aivars, next to Guna, held Matiss by the hand.

En: The little boy watched as snowflakes fell onto his nose and laughed.

Lv: Bet Guna vērīgi pārskatīja katru ornamentu katrā stendā, neapstādināmi meklējot.
En: But Guna carefully looked over each ornament in each stall, tirelessly searching.

En: "Do you have anything that reminds you of Latvian traditions?"

Lv: " viņa jautāja vienam pārdevējam pēc otra.
En: she asked one vendor after another.

Lv: Katru reizi saņemot noliedzošu atbildi, viņas sirds smagnē vairāk un vairāk.
En: Each time receiving a negative response, her heart grew heavier and heavier.

Lv: Bet viņa atteicās padoties.
En: But she refused to give up.

Lv: Beidzot, nonākot pie vienkārša stenda stūrī, viņa ieraudzīja vecu pārdevēju, kas viņu sagaidīja ar smaidu.
En: Finally, arriving at a simple stall in the corner, she saw an old vendor who greeted her with a smile.

En: Her eyes immediately caught an ornament – it was small, lovingly carved from wood, and intricately handmade.

Lv: Tas bija tieši tāds pats kā viņas mātes iecienītais.
En: It was exactly like her mother's favorite.

Lv: "Tas ir mūsu pašu izgatavots, kādreiz mans tēvs tādus taisīja," teica pārdevējs.
En: "This is made by us, my father used to make them," said the vendor.

Lv: Guna tik tikko neslēpa aizkustinājumu.
En: Guna barely concealed her emotion.

Lv: Šis ornaments simbolizēja mātes mīlestību un šo vienīgo Ziemassvētku vakaru, kad viņi visi kopā sēdēja pie kamīna un klausījās stāstus.
En: This ornament symbolized her mother's love and the singular Christmas evening when they all sat together by the fireplace, listening to stories.

Lv: Guna sirsnīgi pateicās un nopirka ornamentu.
En:...
