FTKWellness launches the first episode of its Healers Series with wellness and herbalist practitioner, yoga and Pilates instructor Miró Kali Shakti. In this episode, we explore Miró’s personal journey to wellness after living with Fibromyalgia and PTSD for several years — and how reconnecting with her Brazilian Indigenous and African roots, and working with traditional plant medicines, namely Ayahuasca, led to curing her Fibromyalgia and PTSD symptoms.
We ask the bold question: Could Ayahuasca be a pathway to healing Fibromyalgia and PTSD? While there is technically no universally recognized cure for these conditions, FTKWellness has heard firsthand from individuals who have explored different healing modalities, supplements, and foods to manage symptoms and support their recovery, and Miró is one of them. Miró shares her own transformative experience, discusses the powerful link between PTSD and Fibromyalgia, and offers other therapies and modalities that may help in managing — and possibly improving — these complex conditions.
⚠️ Disclaimer: Everyone’s path to healing is unique. The information shared in this episode is intended for awareness and reflection, and may offer insights you can adapt to your own wellness journey.

Join the conversation with Freedom To Know Wellness in Season 2, Episode 1—an episode honouring Black Maternal Health Week, April 11–17. Hear one Black woman's powerful journey navigating chronic pain and maternal care within the Canadian healthcare system. She represents many Black women and Women of Colour who face a system often marked by neglect and medical gaslighting. A system built on biased standards—rooted in comparisons based on the race and gender of its original, dominant population.
Black Maternal Health Week, "Emphasizes the power of Black-led perinatal, maternal, and reproductive health organizations to drive systemic change and foster community healing." Quote by Black Mamas Matter.

This title may seem sombre— “Alive Traumatic Births…” Urgh, depressing! But don't fear. My guest, Allison Wylie, will inform and expand your understanding of their birth trauma, infertility and IVF journey while giving you some humour within their traumatic and extensive experience of obtaining their two children. Allison and her partner's experience with losses during their IVF led to the inspiration and creation of Allison’s jewelry line, called Remembryo. Remebryo are hand-crafted engraved pendant emblems, to remember the embryos lost while trying to conceive. These emblems are not just for the “IVF'ers” as Allison likes to coin, but for those who have miscarried and had infant loss. 0:00 Introduction 2:50 Interview 1:00.49 Fletcher's Backstory Welcome to Freedom To Know Wellness Season 1 Episode 4. Today’s podcast concludes this series on uterine fibroids under our female reproductive category. But this is not the last on this topic for this season. Our guest Michelle Kershaw shares her miracle trying to conceive (TTC) journey while battling uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, several miscarriages plus managing the complex autoimmune disorder of Type 1 diabetes. Where Type 2 Diabetes occurs when the pancreas gradually decreases its insulin production in the body due to lifestyle, eating habits or hereditary, in Type 1 Diabetes, the pancreas is attacked and stops producing any insulin for the body, affecting babies/children and adults up to age 40. Type 1 diabetes can impact pregnant mothers creating conditions such as high blood pressure, vision loss, and kidney disease. All of these conditions and experiences are just scratching the surface of what Michelle and her husband David went through during her pregnancy. Experience that included Michelle requiring an emergency radical hysterectomy...I will leave that for Michelle to share. But despite their trials, the Kershaw’s story and perseverance resulted in the beautiful premature birth of their son Fletcher. Watch for the full details of this story and stay until the end for an update on little Fletcher.

0:00 Introduction 6:07 Interview 49:46 Conclusion In this episode of Freedom To Know Wellness, the podcast discusses a woman’s journey with uterine fibroids and her mandatory emergency hysterectomy surgery- originally a cancer scare- to manage her health. The subtitle, “When Not A Choice” is stated, because a hysterectomy can be an elective surgery for women for different reasons, but the majority reason are for those struggling with uterine fibroids and other reproductive conditions that are debilitating or life-threatening. In this episode, we discuss the physical, mental and spiritual impact a hysterectomy has on a woman and the question of why the removal of the female uterus is so prevalent- and almost casual, and what potentially is missing in the Canadian healthcare system to help prevent the need for so many hysterectomies- including early scanning detection and more… If you enjoyed this episode and would like more information on Shauna Stewart Douglas “Mummble” mom’s group and view her video and image vlog of her hysterectomy story, see the links below. ▶️ Shauna’s “Mummble” Mom's groups https://www.facebook.com/momsunitingmoms/groups ▶️ Follow Shauna’s story: Video Links and Images 🔗 Shauna’s Cancer Scare/ Hysterectomy Health Update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13wTrBZ_84Q&t=140s 🔗"Once a Dancer, Always a Dancer" Image of Shauna before surgery.
