2 player game, going 2nd

Opening hand:

  • North Island Brown Kiwi. When played: Discard a bonus card. If you do, draw 4 bonus cards, keep2, and discard the other 2
  • Black-Shouldered Kite. When activated: Reset the birdfeeder and gain 1 rat, if there is one. You may give it to another player; if you do, lay up to 3 eggs on this bird.
  • Sri-Lanka Frogmouth. When activated: Roll any 1die. If you roll a grub, cache 1 grub from the supply on this bird. All players may discard 1 card from their hand to gain 1 grub from the supply.
  • Short-Toed Treecreeper. When activated: Discard1 egg from any bird. If you do, play another bird in your forest. Pay its normal food and egg cost.
  • Swainson’s hawk. When activated: Look at a card from the deck. If <75cm, tuck it behind this bird. If not, discard it.


Bonus cards:

  • Falconer. Birds with a predator power. 2 points per bird.
  • Wetland Ranger. Consecutive birds in the wetlands with ascending or descending scores. 3 birds = 3 points, 4 birds = 5 points, 5 birds = 8 points.


In the tray:

  • South Island Robin. When activated: If the player to your right has a grub in their personal supply, cache 1 grub from the general supply on this bird.
  • Dovekie. Game end: Choose any 1 player(including yourself). For each bird on their player mat with a “Game End” (yellow) power, draw 1 card from the deck. Play 1 of them for free and discard the rest.
  • Red-Footed Falcon. When activated: If another player has any rats in their personal supply, gain 1 rat from the general supply.


End of round goals:

  1. Cards in hand
  2. Bowl nest birds with eggs
  3. Birds worth less than 3

  • Peregrine Falcon. When activated: look at a card from the deck. If <100cm, tuck it behind this bird.
  • Surfbird. When activated: all players draw 1 from the deck. You may also trade 1 from your hand with a card in the tray.
  • Common Yellowthroat. When activated: Draw 2. If you do, discard 1 from your hand at the end of your turn.
  • White-Bellied Sea-Eagle. When activated: Reset the birdfeeder. Gain 1 fish or rat if there is one, and cache it on this bird.
  • Crimson Chat. When activated: discard 1 anything to tuck 1 from the deck behind this bird.


Bonus cards:

  • Small Clutch Specialist: Birds with an egg limit of 2 or less. 8+ birds = 7 points
  • Forest Population Monitor. Different nest types in the forest. 5 types = 8 points.


In the tray:

  • House Finch. When activated: tuck a card from your hand behind this bird. If you do, draw 1 card.
  • Abbott's Booby. When played: draw 3 bonus cards, then discard 2. You may discard bonus cards you did not draw this turn.

  • Oriental Bay-Owl. Round end: Activate the “when activated” (brown) powers of all of your other predator birds.
  • Verditer Flycatcher. When activated: If you have gained a grub from the birdfeeder on this turn, gain 1cherry from the supply.
  • Ivory Gull. When activated: Choose a food in the cost of the card on top of the discard pile. Cache 1 of that food from the supply on this bird. You may spend food on this bird when activating a bird power.
  • Eastern Kingbird. Once between turns: When another player plays a forest bird, gain 1 grub from the supply.
  • Paradise Shelduck. When activated: If there is an egg on an adjacent bird, draw a card. If not, lay 1 egg on this bird.


Bonus cards:

  • Wetland Ranger. Consecutive birds in the wetlands with ascending or descending scores. 3 consecutive birds = 3 points, 4 consecutive birds = 5 points, 5 consecutive birds = 8 points
  • Citizen Scientist. Birds with tucked cards. 4-6 birds = 3 points, 7+ birds = 6 points

  • Greater Adjutant. Game end: Copy one bonus card of the player on your left, as if it were your own (score it based on your own birds).
  • Eurasian Jay. When activated: Steal 1 wheat from another player’s supply and cache it on this bird. They gain one food from the birdfeeder.
  • Grey Shrikethrush. When activated: Reset the birdfeeder and gain all rats, if there are any. You may cache any or all of them on this bird.

Opening hand:

  • Barn Owl. When activated: roll all dice not in the birdfeeder. If any are rats, gain one rat and cache it on this card.
  • Philippine Eagle. Round end: roll all five dice. You may reroll any number of dice up to two times. If at least three rats are showing when you stop, draw two bonus cards and keep one. Reset the bird feeder.
  • Mourning Dove. When activated: lay one egg on this bird.
  • Little Grebe. When activated: for each bird in this column with an egg on it, draw one card. Keep one card and discard the rest.
  • Rook. When activated: Cache one food from your supply on this bird or tuck one card from your hand behind this bird. If you do either, tuck one card from the deck behind this bird.


Bonus cards:

  • Passerine Specialist: birds with wingspans 30 cm or less: 6+ birds = 6 points
  • Oologist. Birds that have at least one egg laid on them. 9+ birds = 6 points.


In the tray:

  • Northern Goshawk. When played: for each rat in this bird's cost, you may pay one card from your hand instead. If you do, tuck the paid card behind this bird.
  • Clark's Nutcracker. When activated: gain one wheat from the bird feeder, if available. You may cache it on this card.

  • Autralian Owlet-Nightjar. Once between turns: When another player takes the "gain food" action, gain 1 grub from the birdfeeder, if their is one, at the end of their turn.
  • Yellowhammer. Round end: If you used all 4 types of actions this round, play another bird. Pay its normal food and egg cost.
  • Pheasant Coucal. Once between turns: When another player takes the "lay eggs" action, lay 1 egg on this bird.
  • Green Pygmy-Goose. When activated: Draw 2 cards from the deck, keep 1 and give the other to another player.


Bonus cards:

  • Wetland scientist: Birds that can only live in the water. 5 birds = 7 points.
  • Rodentologist: Birds that eat rats. 2 points per bird.


The tray:

  • Wood Stork: When Played: Draw 2 bonus cards and keep 1.
  • Moltoni's Warbler: Round end: If you used all 4 types of actions this round, play another bird. Pay its normal food and egg cost.
  • Silvereye: When activated: All players gain one nectar from the supply.

Welcome back to Full Tuck: The Wingspan Podcast! This week we focus on the new fan made mini expansions which are going to be released in mid-October. These came as a complete surprise to us so we decided to give them a proper look with a bumper episode!

As always we also discuss our opening hand, and our friend's predeliction to one particularly friendly water bird.

Episode 6 opening hand - 4 player game, you are going first

  • Rose-breasted Grosbeak. When activated: Gain one wheat or one cherry from the birdfeeder, if there is one.
  • Rainbow Lorikeet. When activated: Discard one nectar to the “spent nectar” space for your forest. If you do, gain two food from the birdfeeder.
  • Violet-Green Swallow. When activated: Tuck one card from your hand behind this bird. If you do, gain one card.
  • Bell’s Vireo. When played: Draw two bonus cards and keep one.
  • Burrowing Owl. When activated: Roll all dice not in the birdfeeder. If any are rats, gain one rat and cache it on this card.


Bonus cards:

  • Forest Ranger. Consecutive birds in the forest with ascending or descending scores. 3 consecutive birds = 3 points, 4 consecutive birds = 5 points, 5 consecutive birds = 8 birds.
  • Wetland Population Monitor. Different nest types in the wetlands. 2-3 types = 3 points, 4 types = 5 points, 5 types = 8 points.


In the tray:

  • Spotted Towhee. When activated: Gain one wheat from the supply.
  • Southern Cassowary. When played: Discard a bird from your forest and put this bird in its place (no not pay an egg cost). If you do, lay 4 eggs on this bird and gain 2 cherries from the supply.
  • Trumpeter Swan. No powers. 9 points.
