All Hallows by Walter de la Mare | Audiobook
On a remote sea-bluff where waves gnaw at the ancient cliffs, the cathedral of All Hallows lies cloaked in silence and shadow. A weary traveler arrives, seeking nothing more than rest—but what he finds is a place suspended in time, abandoned by the world yet not entirely empty. Guided by an aging verger whose words hint at hidden terrors, he descends into the dark heart of the cathedral, through forgotten passageways and up to windswept rooftops beneath the stars. Something stirs within the sacred stones—something ancient, inscrutable, and watching. All Hallows is a gothic tale of solitude, haunting, and the frail boundary between faith and fear. In its pages, mystery deepens with every footstep, and the cathedral itself becomes a character—majestic, mournful, and possibly... alive.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carol | Alice in Wonderland | Audiobook
A book for the collective reading of all generations - each person will find their own interpretation and their own enchantment here. The fairy tale story of Alice's adventures in Wonderland was created on a hot July afternoon in 1862, when during a boat ride on the Thames, Lewis Carroll, a mathematics lecturer at Oxford and author of serious mathematical books, told it to little Alice and her two sisters. And it was this story, not the scientific works, that brought the writer worldwide fame. Encouraged by the immense success of the book, Carroll wrote a second part of the story a few years later, titled Alice Through the Looking Glass. "Alice in Wonderland" is a special work. It does not present the world as we see it every day, but shows it in the dream of the heroine, and dreams, as you know, are ruled by different laws. Therefore, in the book, known fragments of reality are arranged into completely new, often nonsensical wholes, and real characters, mixed with fantastic ones, look and behave differently than in life. And one more note: "Alice in Wonderland" is one of those books that are worth returning to. Once you read it as a strange fairy tale, full of extraordinary, surprising events, but on the next reading, many new meanings will be revealed to you. However, every reader will always be amazed by the richness of the author's imagination and ingenuity, and each will succumb to the charm of his unique humor.

An Affair of Outposts by Ambrose Bierce | Tales of Soldiers and Civilians | Audiobook
A sharp-tongued slice of the American Civil War from Ambrose Bierce, “An Affair of Outposts” follows a governor hungry for pageantry and a captain who’d rather find an honorable end than a patriotic slogan. When a skirmish in the Tennessee woods turns ugly, cool commands and brittle pride collide with the messy truth of battle, and loyalties - North, South, and personal - get tested the hard way. Bierce brings his trademark sting: soldiers who look like ghosts before they fall, politicians who love the review stand more than the rifle pit, and a hero whose heart isn’t in the cause but won’t step back from duty. It’s brisk, bitter, and oddly tender in flashes - the kind of war story that swaps brass-band romance for powder smoke and moral whiplash. Perfect for readers who like their historical fiction lean, unsentimental, and unnervingly modern.

A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson by H.P. Lovecraft | Full Audiobook
According to S.T. Joshi, it is "probably Lovecraft's best humorous story". The tale was undoubtedly inspired by the lighthearted jokes made by Lovecraft's acquaintances in the amateur journalism association, who humorously claimed that he was born two centuries too late. Largely based on James Boswell's biography of the titular scholar, "The Life of Samuel Johnson", this story, written in 18th-century English, is a humorous narrative told by Littlewit, a 228-year-old poet (Lovecraft being 200 years younger at the time). Most of the anecdotes, enriched with fictional elements and the narrator's involvement, are directly taken from "The Life of Samuel Johnson". Although it is uncertain, the text may have been written even before "The Tomb" and "Dagon." The story was published in "United Amateur" under the pseudonym Humphry Littlewit, Esq., thus using the name of the narrator.
