Episode 71: Biggest Bang for Your Buck  ** 70% to 30% - that is the percentage I think skills building should be to course work maybe even 80% to 20%. You'll get more bang for your buck with skills training than you will with course work. Course work shows you where your skills training is good and where it is needing more work, but it doesn't "train" the dog.

Episode 64: Playing It Safe - What happens when a dog is incorrect? ** Playing it safe versus always trying for correct may leave you never knowing how much your dog actually knows. Take a chance and go for more distance, more distraction, more duration...you never know, your dog just may be able to handle it and offer you a new level of training. But you'll never know if you don't try. Give it a try, even at the risk of your dog being incorrect. P.S. Pay for effort.
