In this conversation, I spoke with Kat Melheim, a coffee roaster, writer, and content creator. Kat shared her journey to and through the coffee industry, from being a barista to her current role at Algrano. We discussed how coffee and art intersect, the importance of travel to Kat, and how her background in social work influences her approach to equity. We also talked about the significance of education, the challenges women face entering coffee roasting and navigating a male-dominated industry, and the creation of the Kat Cup, a specially designed cupping bowl. Kat also shared details about the upcoming Level Up bootcamp for baristas, aimed at providing hands-on training and career development.
