Heal it Through Ethical Consumption | Dr John Sanbonmatsu & Ken D Foster | #HealIt S4EP13

Philosopher and author John Sanbonmatsu joins the show to challenge one of the most deeply held cultural beliefs: that eating animals is natural, necessary, and ethical. Drawing from his provocative new book The Omnivore’s Deception, Sanbonmatsu explores the myths surrounding meat consumption, the moral and ecological costs of animal agriculture, and the urgent need to rethink our relationship with nonhuman animals. From the latest science on animal consciousness to the risks of zoonotic pandemics, he offers a compelling case for ending our dependence on meat—not just for the planet’s health, but for our own. With sharp insight and a touch of contrarian flair, Sanbonmatsu dismantles the arguments for humane slaughter, carnivore diets, and the supposed difficulty of vegan living.Tune in for a bold, eye-opening conversation that asks us to reconsider what we eat—and why it matters.Show Benefits: ~ Debunking Common Myths About Meat Gain clarity on long-held beliefs about human diets, animal agriculture, and the ethics of eating meat.Understanding Animal Consciousness Learn about the latest scientific discoveries on animal minds and emotions, revealing their complexity and sensitivity.~ Exploring the Health and Environmental Impact of Diet Discover how shifting to a plant-based diet can improve personal health and dramatically reduce ecological harm.~ Rethinking Ethical Consumption Examine the moral implications of factory farming and so-called “humane” meat, and explore alternatives that align with compassion and justice.~ Empowerment Through Informed Choices Walk away with practical insights and motivation to make dietary changes that support sustainability, animal welfare, and personal well-beingJohn Sanbonmatsu grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
