For this episode, I want to focus on what we can do as individuals because change starts with self.
So why do this?
Our choices have an impact on the amount of waste generated and how it is managed. Food that is not consumed, either in the home or when eating out, results in personal financial loss and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions once it enters landfill.

Going to be honest here, I haven't been as diligent as I normally am in terms of how I manage my waste. So here's me talking through that, a bit of history on plastics (yes, also acknowledging that they're useful) and some easy switches I've done that you can start with to live a life that's kinder to our Earth and ourselves.

This episode's a bit more free flowing. I posted a question in my Instagram stories the other day and here's me sharing the responses and my thoughts on them.
I've been integrating a bit more flow into my life rather than forcing structure to everything. Tune in to hear what that is!
Cool initiatives mentioned:

This was an interesting episode to cover. Movement has been a great practice to get in touch with our Earth and myself. Rediscovering what the life I want to design is and learning what it means to be human.
Jake is a great movement and rewilding coach. Jake’s vision is to create local, community centric, earth-based culture bringing people together to share skills and grow as a collective. He is currently in the process of setting up a retreat that will allow for a deeper understanding of what it means to be human through the embracing of ancestrally aligned practices.

Today (22 May) is International Day for Biological Diversity and on the 25th of May, National Wine Day is also coming up.
So I wanted to touch a bit about alcohol and the chemical reactions in our body. So much more to learn in this area and I'm looking forward to diving deeper and sharing more with you!

So after the initial podcast about monoculture farming then diving into an introduction about permaculture, I wanted to learn more about monoculture farming.
So here’s a scary finding! Approximately 75 percent of the world’s crop varieties have been lost over the last 100 years as the result of soil depletion. They’ve found that this time frame corresponds roughly to the beginning of monoculture farming, which is dated back to 1901. Hmm? Anything related there?
Here are some of the studies and articles:

Well, it's what I read about monoculture farming but that wouldn't make a great pun.
Here's a quick overview on what I've seen as I was looking a bit into agriculture.
Disclaimer: I am definitely not an agriculture expert or a farming expert. These are what I've found from different articles I've seen. I'd encourage you all to do your own research and decide based on your own findings.
Next week, we'll have Monty Sharma with us to share his insights on permaculture, the flip-side of monoculture.

On this episode, I have a conversation with Tricia Martin. She is a Gen Z advocate, experienced facilitator, program designer and co-founder of SHE CAN, a program that equipsadolescent girls with real world skills before they finish school.
She shared a bit about Nudge Theory and how this is being used at organisations to 'nudge' people more towards sustainable living. We also go into some things we can do to heal ourselves through simple changes we can make that also heal our environment.

Higher-level consequences is definitely something we should recognise in our environment and when making decisions.
In this episode, I briefly touch on this concept and share some second and third order consequences that we see happening right now with this pandemic and other things to consider going forward.

In this episode, we talk a bit about sharks and "sharkweek".
I kick off by announcing International Shark Day...but it's not! Whoops! Regardless, I love sharks anyway and am really excited to share some insights that I've learned, busting some myths that have caused us to fear sharks and why they're so essential to our ecosystem.
Then, Liz from Wild Womb Co joins us to talk about "sharkweek", our periods. We touch on the hormonal changes throughout our cycle, things and toxins that can affect that and how we can have more sustainable periods.
Get in touch with Liz through her website wildwombco.com or on her Instagram (@wild.womb.co)
Here are some of the brands that Liz mentions at the end of this podcast to start your journey on having more environmentally and body friendly periods.
