Welcome back to HerLayered Life! In today’s episode, I’m slowing down to talk about something close to my heart: our layers and our seasons—and learning to truly love the season we’re in, even when it’s messy, unexpected, or completely different from what we imagined.
I dive into what “layers” really are—our family, relationships, friendships, work, business, faith, personal growth, passions, struggles, and even heartbreaks. Each layer has its own color, dimension, and importance, and they all interact in unique ways throughout our lives. I share how my own layers shift depending on my priorities—family, business, basketball season—and how learning to navigate these changes with grace can make all the difference.
We also explore the seasons of life, especially as women. From motherhood to career shifts, our seasons shape our experiences and influence how we show up in the world. I share personal stories about motherhood, friendships, and balancing multiple responsibilities, and how comparison can be one of the biggest traps we fall into when we fail to honor our own season.
One principle I love is shifting from competition to creation. Instead of looking at another woman’s success and feeling less than, I encourage us to see her success as proof—and permission—that we can create the life we desire. God’s blessings are infinite, and seeing someone else flourish doesn’t take away from our own journey; it’s a reminder that we too can thrive if we make the choices and sacrifices necessary to pursue our goals.
We also talk about flow versus balance, and how tools, systems, and support—like family, nannies, or team structures—can help us navigate life’s layers more effectively. I share how athletics, especially team sports, teach girls and women essential skills: celebrating others, collaborating, and showing up in a way that lifts everyone.
Finally, I give five practical ways to live your layers fully:
Every season matters, even the hidden ones. Every layer matters, even the ones that feel invisible. And when women support each other intentionally, we rise together.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
In this episode of Her Layered Life, I sit down with the vibrant and inspiring Grace Evans (@_gracevans)—a content creator and influencer whose journey into the online world was anything but conventional. From her early days running ads and creating content as a missionary in Washington D.C., Grace discovered that her skills and experiences in unexpected places prepared her for a career she hadn’t even imagined.
Grace opens up about the insecurities she faced early on, feeling like she wasn’t “cool enough” or qualified to make an impact online. Her story is relatable to anyone who’s doubted themselves or wondered if they belong in a space that feels bigger than they are. Through persistence, faith, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability, Grace found her voice and carved out a unique space in the influencer world.
In this episode, we dive deep into the realities of building an online presence while staying true to yourself. Grace shares the importance of authenticity, community, and humor, and she gives listeners an inside look at both the exciting and challenging sides of social media influencing. She talks candidly about handling criticism, navigating online negativity, and the discipline it takes to maintain balance and purpose in a digital career.
Key highlights from our conversation include:
Grace’s journey is a testament to the power of embracing your layered life. She reminds us that influencing isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, sharing your story, and allowing others to see your real, messy, and beautiful journey.

In this episode of Her Layered Life, I had the joy of sitting down with the inspiring Alyssa Diaz. Alyssa is a teacher, influencer, creator, and collaborator who has found a way to use all the different layers of her life—career, family, faith, and community—to build something truly impactful.
Alyssa’s journey started in the classroom. She taught in both public and private schools before moving into a role that gave her space to reflect on her passion for teaching. Along the way, she began sharing her classroom experiences online under the name “She Teaches Fifth.” What started with small posts about her students and creative teaching ideas quickly grew into something much bigger.
One of the most pivotal moments in her story was a classroom makeover project that she documented online. What she thought was just a fun way to share turned into a viral moment—suddenly, thousands of people were connecting with her content, her creativity, and her authentic heart for teaching. From that point on, Alyssa leaned into her role as both teacher and influencer, learning to navigate the ups and downs of creating content in the public eye.
In our conversation, Alyssa opened up about:
What I love most about Alyssa’s story is how real and relatable it is. She didn’t set out to become a content creator or influencer—it unfolded naturally as she followed her passions and shared them with others. Her journey is such a reminder that we don’t need to have everything perfectly figured out in order to step forward. Sometimes the smallest ideas or projects can lead to opportunities we never imagined.
This episode is full of encouragement, practical wisdom, and plenty of real talk about what it means to juggle multiple roles while staying true to yourself. Whether you’re a teacher, creator, or simply someone trying to balance the many layers of your own life, I know you’ll walk away feeling uplifted and inspired.
