Ep 49: Intro to R Palme Dutt’s Fascism and Social Revolution

This was originally recorded and released to Patreon in July 2024. I’ve finally caught up enough to drop it to the main feed. It’s a fairly dense book, and will be coming out in bite sized pieces.

*note* this was recorded on my old set up, and I wasn’t able to re-edit it

How the Red was Won
SPECIAL BONUS: Workers' Lit coming soon!

Special Announcement!

I am joining Lenore and Jacob of Socialist Shelf for their new project, Worker' Lit, specifically the current events podcast, Unfit to Print.

Aysha U. Farah and Jen Big Nasty join the shelfers to... no wait, I'm seeing they're just joining the pod. Straight up. They're members of the show now. Let's goooo!

We're excited to announce that this feed will be rebranding, with the umbrella name, "Workers' Lit." This is not because we're getting rid of The Socialist Shelf (you couldn't escape us that easily), but because we're adding a second show to the feed: "Unfit to Print," a weekly news roundup that starts with a structured summary of the last week's events and then launches into a more relaxed discussion of the current state of affairs.

That's right, two episodes a week! Listeners, you asked for current events, you asked for more content, you asked for more Aysha and Jen, now you're getting it all!

Were extremely excited to bring Aysha onto the Socialist Shelf side and Jen onto the Unfit to Print side.

This is going to be a lot of work, but we're extremely excited to grow this project and hope y'all will be along for the ride!

Please support us by sharing, leaving a review, listening, and telling your friends!

Ep 45: BONUS! No Kings Austin

I attended the local No Kings rally Saturday, October 18, 2025. This was recorded about 2 hours after I got home, so I was fairly sleepy. I realized after talking to my partner, that I left out a few important notes, like how there was ZERO police presence. Less cops than one would normally see at that park. Very strange indeed! All in all, I am glad I went, though. Thanks for listening xo

There's a lot going on right now, and sometimes it's good to step back and lose yourself in a work of fiction. Freddy G, who you may know from the internet, joins me to discuss seasons 1&2 of the Apple TV show Severance. Are all offices like this? Is Ricken a Marxist? Would YOU get severed? We discuss this and more!

You know him. You love him. It’s everyone’s favorite Breht O’Shea from such fine podcasts as RevLeft Radio, The Red Menace, Shoeless in South Dakota, and more! Ex Ep 11 CLIP: Fascism & Social Revolution by R. Palme Dutt (intro)

I am beginning my next reading series with the 1934 book, Fascism and Social Revolution by R. Palme Dutt.

Dutt was a British communist in the 1930s and wrote about the rise of fascism happening all around him. I find his analysis of what fascism is and how to fight it to be one of the best out there. In this episode, I read a bit of his bio and both of the book’s introductions.

This series will be released to the free feed in about a month xoxo
