We are back with part 2 of Shea's story. If you missed part one, please listen! Today we dive deeper into life after surgery and discuss aspects others likely have faced: the realization of being wronged and the difficulty this poses to conditions impacting women.
The timeliness of this episode came as I have been exploring those who have attempted to tackle this topic. Recently Cecelia Plaza's article "Miss Diagnosis: Gendered Injustice in Medical Malpractice Law" is at the heart of some of the discussions of today's episode. Coincidence? I think not. I believe that this is all too present if we stop and listen.
After going down my own rabbit holes, the question really is - who is to blame? The doctor? They are just following guidelines set for them which is rooted in incomplete or misconstrued theories as to the origin of endometriosis and misled guidelines and this is the outcome.
