Whether through work or at play, I've had the good fortune of meeting some pretty prolific people. On 'I'm That', we have a chat about who they are, what they do, and why. It may be deep. Profound. Funny. Many times, all of the above. But it's always honest.  (Music by Lisa Coleman)

I'M THAT
Aviva Klompas, Co-Founder and CEO Boundless
"So we have work to do to explain exactly what Zionism is, and we have work to do to help people understand the difference between legitimate political protest and Jew hatred. Meaning, there is nothing wrong with the fact that people hate war. That's actually a good thing. There's nothing wrong with the fact that people want to stand up for the Palestinians or support a Palestinian state. That's that's actually perfectly reasonable. The problem is, is when they're choosing to express themselves by going to a Jewish Community Center or a synagogue or a Jewish owned business and chant globalized the Intifada, or any of these other genocidal chants, that's a problem. But in their mind, they don't have the ability to distinguish between all these different elements, because nobody's taught them about the difference between them. That's the work that we have to do."

Shabbos Kestenbaum, Jewish Student Activist
"To me, what makes this most dangerous and nefarious and scary is I was on a panel about two weeks ago with Martin Luther King, Junior's niece, and she reminded me of this great line from her uncle. We will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. And at Harvard, we would have been lucky to have the silence of our friends, but when you have those in a given society who are at the peak of their intelligence, who are at the the the climax of their their moral and ethical barometers, who are the future leaders of our society, who are the most sophisticated and nuanced and sensitive, when you have those individuals who who see the largest mass of Jews the Holocaust, who see unvarnished evil and terrorism, and their inclination is to side with that evil and terrorism, then I hope you and your listeners can appreciate this is not just a Jewish problem."

Ella Kenan, Digital Marketing Professional
"Jews and things that represent Judaism are being attacked. But then at the same time, they're saying, our problem is not with the Jews. We love the Jews. Our problem is Zionists. But what are Zionists? First of all, 95% of Jews are Zionists. And second of all, Zionism is just Jews living in their ancestral land. And that's like Japanese living in their ancestral land and Italians living in their ancestral land."

Abraham Hamra, Syrian Jewish Advocate
"Our beauty is our diversity. Our beauty is that there's a synagogue that would pray in Ladino and then there's a synagogue that would pray in English, and a synagogue that's going to do it in Hebrew. How the Ashkenazis pray, or how the Sephardic pray. The beauty is that to be a tribe, is to be different, but then to be connected, like me and you."

I'M THAT
Dr. Deborah Gilboa, Resilience Expert
"One of the things that I hear people talking about a ton outside of Israel, around anti semitism, is we just learned that the history of Jews is still the history of Jews. That's something we had heard about that sounded like it happened to a different generation, that we were maybe post historical in some way that that's not true the trauma of Jew hatred, right? And so we are trying to change our outlook and our understanding of how the world relates to us and what we need to do to keep our families safe and to move forward. And some people are frozen and reeling. Some people are distancing themselves and trying to suppress their Jewish identity and pass in a lot of situations, as not Jewish, even in their own minds. In some ways, here's what I want everybody to know, resilience is not the lack of emotional experience. It's not a lack of difficult emotions or frustration or anger or sadness or worry. Resilience is the ability to navigate change towards a positive goal."

Michelle Ahdoot, Director of Programming and Strategy, EndJewHatred
"My tagline essentially two things. One, it's go time. And two, everybody is an activist. Everybody is an activist in any way you are able to be or choose to be, and which is why we have the on the ground activism. We have the digital activism. You know, we also believe in information activism by by being fed information, like Eitan, information you beautifully put out on social media. And when you express, you know, your monologs that are so priceless and invaluable. And we repost those because right there that just fanning the flame of activism in somebody that might not have been there prior. So everybody can be an activist. I know that it sounds so simplistic, but it's really the truth."

"I feel like I'm strengthening people and arming them. I'm arming them with the to have the audacity to strike back, to fight back, to yell back. Don't be one of those trembling, needy Jews. Arm yourself with the knowledge and facts so that you can throw a fucking Tyson punch knockout. "

Matan Peretz, Comedian
"It's an amazing experience, not just on stage, just every time that I make someone laugh, because, because it, it's a reflex, you know? Laughter is reflex. You can't control it. That's why you laugh in like this, terrible occasions and this, you know, yo, musica Ron and stuff, you know that just you shouldn't laugh, but it's a reflex. So I was a singer for years. I performed with my band, and you play your song, and the moment it ends, people will clap their hands, and it's very civil, and that's it. But when you make someone laugh, it's just, it's almost like they don't want to, but their body is just like exploding. And to make that effect on people is is crazy."

Yechiel Jacobs, Comedian & Advocate
"The situation we're in is very sad and can be very scary and...it's an intimidating situation. I'm optimistic in the sense that I believe the Jewish people have gotten so close because of this, and we need to continue doing it, and I believe we can. I'm optimistic because I know we can handle the situation."

Mia Talias, Social Media Activist
"I'm doing this is not just to debunk and to maybe hopefully either quote unquote 'convert somebody' who is - I'm going to say - quote unquote, 'pro-Palestinian' because I don't believe they are pro-Palestinian... I don't think they care about Palestinian people at all. Or to maybe get to somebody that doesn't actually have an opinion and could listen, see it and listen to the truth and then know what's actually going on. But it's also for other Jewish people, or pro-Israeli people that feel alone, wherever they're at in the world, or even in Israel, to make them feel somebody standing up for me because so many people wish they could talk and they don't talk. Because either they don't have the means or the confidence or the ability to speak or the language. So then they feel spoken for."

"The world used to love the Jews when they were dying or victims. But the conquering Jews, they don't like Jews who defend themselves. So it's very complicated, because I don't want to be a dead Jew. You don't want to be a dead Jew. And we will defend ourselves. It's over, you know, the weak trembling knees Jew. That's over. "

"I’m an over-sharer. In general in life, it's something that I think I'm very good at. It's a gift that I overshare and share everything in my life. So for me, there's no boundaries with that. I mean, obviously, there be a personal things that we don't always share about our lives. But I'm the kind of person who, if I feel passionate about something, I want to share it because I know that it can make an impact in somebody's life, even if it's one person."

Shai Davidai, Assistant Professor Columbia Business School
"Since October 8, my professional reputation has been dragged through the mud. Most of my colleagues won't speak with me, I have been getting so much hate that I've had to grow a thick skin very quickly because at first, it was just too much. I could not, and I still cannot understand how people can harbor so much hate in our hearts for someone they do not know. You know, I jokingly say, 'At least give me the honor of knowing me before you hate me. Maybe you'll find something to hate. But at least give me a chance.' We've lost many, many, many friends."

"The thing about music is it's something that always grows and that constantly can give me something new. That every time I go back to the piano and sit there and just open myself up, something new happens – every time. And I think that that can happen for the rest of my life. There's nothing like it. It's the most soothing, most invigorating thing - and it has promise. Always, I can always get better, I can always learn more, I can always write something new."

This was probably the first time I got high in an interview and holy s**t, Snoop was just laughing at me...laughing at this little girl who came in from LA. It was embarrassing.
