Episode #47 – Being Catholic on the Go
Sometimes when people travel, they find it’s hard to find a good place to go to church. In this episode, we talk about resources to help with that. Why? Because Pat’s headed on a trip to the Grand Canyon. (Lucky!)
To start off the show, we talk a little bit about our three j’s then move on into our travel resources. If you’ve been looking for a way to find a mass, a good travel guide or some great podcasts to take with you, we’ve got it all.
Finally, it was a weird week for news. Nick has found some pretty odd stories this week. Everything from the world’s largest beaver dam to something about neanderthals. Yeah, it’s a weird week for news.

Episode #46 – Stuff We Like
Want to know what we’re into right now? This show gives you a few insights into the cool technology, music and movies that Pat and Nick are digging at the moment. Listen in to hear them talk about movies they are looking forward to and iPhone games they are playing.
To start off the show, we’ve got a pretty funny line to use along with a great announcement from Pat about his Joy of the week. Additionally, it’s Nick’s birthday this weekend. He’s looking forward to celebrating another year, but not looking forward to being one year closer to 30!
In our extended stuff we like segment, we talk about an iPhone game called Plants Versus Zombies. It’s currently our favorite game and we can’t get enough of it! We follow that discussion up with the artists we are currently listening to and the summer movies that we can’t wait to see. Finally, we wrap up with a new youtube video that Pat’s friend, Whitney, made a song she wrote called “Cookie Girl.”
To finish the show, we talk about some of the news that’s been happening around the world, including a very funny story about a prom limo being reposessed on prom night! We have some great feedback from our listeners and a new Catholic Challenge for this week.

Episode #45 – The Hope that is in You
What does it mean when 1 Peter 3:15 says “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope”? What type of hope is the Bible talking about? In this episode, we answer that question and lay the foundation for an upcoming episode on apologetics.
To start off the show, we go through our 3Js and listen to a very funny line sent into us from one of her children. Listen in to see how we can work in the line, “Mommy, pick me up!”
In our Help, I’m Fallen segment, we have a question from John, who emailed us a while ago asking about the passage in 1 Peter 3:15 where it mentions that we should be prepared to give an account for our hope. He asks us what type of hope Peter is talking about and wonders how we can make our own lives interesting enough that someone asks us about our hope.

To finish out the show, we have some interesting news from Google, who started a new feature called search stories. Additionally, there is some news coming out about seven new people who are set for beatification. Check the link in the show notes below to find out more.

Episode #43 – Vocations
Have you ever considered a call to the priesthood? We talk about vocations in the latest episode if the show. Nick talks about his own journey to understanding God’s call in his life and talks about his own experiences in a Benedictine monastery.
Along with talking about vocations, there was a lot of news this week, from art to the Vatican, we found out about a new flash tour of the Sistine Chapel and the Pope blessing an image of Mary to help Chile.
For feedback this week, we have a call from Tim, who shares his Lenten story and struggles. Much like Pat, he’s trying to eat at home during Lent, but had a moment this past week when he ended up eating out.

Have you heard about the new evangelization? Recently, Pat gave a talk in Tulsa, Oklahoma about the new evangelization and its impact on new media. In this episode, he talks about some of the research he found. Did you know that there are 1.2 billion Catholics in the world? Listen to this episode to hear more about that statistic and others.
As our Catholic Challenge this week, we encourage you to listen to a fantastic homily given by Fr. Cantalamessa, the preacher to the papal household. He gave a fantastic talk and reflection on the year for priests.
We finish out the show with some interesting news about a torch that Pope Benedict blessed for the anniversary of St. Benedict. Finally, we play some great feedback for our show and a new song that was written for the Catholic Vitamins podcast.

Episode #39 – The “A” Word
What’s up with this whole Lent thing, anyway? Ever wonder why we get ashes on our head or why we can’t say the “A” word during Lent? In this episode of In Between Sundays, Pat and Nick discuss some of the reasons behind the next 40 days.
To start off the show, we go through the three J’s for Ash Wednesday and talk about a new what’s my line on the show. We’ve got a good one this week for the season of Lent. How would you work in the phrase, “Fist pumping like champs?” We’ve got a few ideas.
In our help I’m fallen segment, we talk about a few of the things we are doing for Lent and play some feedback from our listeners. If you are looking for ideas on what you can do to prepare for Easter, we’ve got some good ones on the show.
To finish out the show, we go through the feedback we received about the Liturgy of the Hours. It’s amazing the different ways people spend their time in prayer. There are too many to count! Episode #38 – Busted Halo Simulcast
This week’s episode is a special simulcast between In Between Sundays and Busted Halo. We were lucky enough to get some time to record a dual episode with Brittany and Fr. Dave. As part of the show, we answer a question of faith involving receiving the Eucharist more than once a day.
If you haven’t heard of Busted Halo before, it is another podcast and online network for young adults. They have a wealth of online resources including a full index of young adult groups around the country. If you are looking for another destination to learn about your faith, Busted Halo is the place to go.
Take a listen to this episode and enjoy. We had a lot of fun talking with Brittany and Fr. Dave. During the show, we decided to quiz them on their knowledge of chick flicks and horror films. See how well they do!

Episode #37 – The Liturgy of the Hours
Have you ever wanted to know more about praying the psalms? It turns out that there’s a way to do that – it’s called the Liturgy of the Hours and it is the prayer of the Church. If you have ever wanted to know more about these prayers, listen to Nick’s explanation of them then check out SQPN’s praystation portable.
To kick off our show, we have a good amount of news about sports. This weekend is Super Bowlweekend so we decided to talk a little bit about the New Orleans Saints and some of the ads that will air during the Super Bowl. Finally, Jen in Montana sent us an interesting piece of news about the top prospect of the Athletics deciding to become a priest.
During the show, we talk about how the Liturgy of the Hours is a way of adding a certain rhythm of prayer to your life and how the psalms contain the entire range of human emotions. We highly suggest you take a look at this form of prayer and see if it is something that you are able to fit into your life.

Episode #36 – A Story of Redemption
Paul Davis is our featured guest this week. During the show he talks to us about his journey to making better decisions. When he was younger, Paul made a bad decision which affected the rest of his life. Want to hear more? Listen in to our episode to hear the interview.
To start off the show, we have two new lines from Steph in Wisconsin and Jessica, who left a comment on a previous episode.
In our news segment, we talk about a card trick that Paul Camarata sent us. It’s a pretty cool trick. Along with the magic trick, we talk about an article that Lisa Hendey sent us about the Pope embracing new media as a means to evangelization. The Vatican now his its own YouTube channel and recognizes the need to use technology to help people share their faith.
During our interview, Paul Davis tells us about his amazing story from high school to get him to where he is now. His story is filled with a message of hope and reliance on God. If you are looking for something to help you put your own life into perspective, take a listen.
This week, we received a lot of feedback from our listeners. To close out the show, we read some of the feedback we have received and play some audio feedback from Barb in Nebraska. Episode #35 – March for Life
It’s pro-life week and in honor of that, we have Mary Kay Culp from Kansans for Life on our show to talk about the pro-life march and what Kansans for Life does. Listen to find out more about this important week.
This week, as part of our news, we have decided to talk about our new favorite iPhone application, Words with Friends. It’s a great game where you can play over the net with other friends, either live or in taking individual turns.
As part of our interview segment, Mary Kay Culp talks with us about the Roe vs. Wade supreme court decision and how it has affected the world. Ever year, on the anniversary of that decision, a group of people march on our nation’s capital in order to show their disagreement with the court’s decision.
Looking ahead, we are in our planning process for our next few months. In that, we are hoping to put together a simulcast with the Busted Halo show. Stay tuned for a that show in the future.

In our Catholic of Caliber, we interview Kelly Croy. He does chalk art to help others better understand what goes into art and how it can affect their own spiritual lives. Finally, he talks about the unique properties of chalk and what he likes about the art.
Finally, to close out the show, we quiz Kelly about his knowledge of Chick Flicks and Horror Films. Will he get the shows correct? Listen in to see what happens.

Episode #33 – To Pray or Not To Pray
What do you use to pray? As part of our feature for this episode, we talk about the devotional items we use to help us find the words to pray when we need inspiration. If you are looking to add something to your spiritual life as part of a new year’s resolution, listen to this episode for some good ideas.
During the news, Nick talks about a new application called Sleep Cycle, which monitors your sleeping patterns and then wakes you up so that you won’t feel tired during the day. Along with Nick’s review of the app, he talks about an article he found where an Italian man decided to spend New Year’s eve in jail rather than with his family. Finally, Pat plays the trailer for the new A-Team movie that is premiering this weekend.

What resources do you use to pray when you can’t come up with the right words? Nick and Pat talk about a few resources they use, from simple prayers to the Liturgy of the Hours, you’ll be able to find a devotional that you can use to help boost your own spiritual life. As part of our Catholic Challenge, we invite our listeners to find a devotional and start using it. What better time than the beginning of the year to begin a new spiritual practice?

Episode #32 – See You Next Year
Happy New Year! It’s that time of year again where everyone does a summary show of the past year. We’ve decided not to do that—we’re doing a wrap-up show. We talk about our favorite episodes from this past year and take the opportunity to thank all our listeners.
To start off the show, we’ve got a great piece of feedback from our friend Dave in Wisconsin and Pat talks about his love of his Flip video. According to Nick, Pat wouldn’t put the camera down even while they were recording.
We have definitely had a lot of interesting guests on our show. Among our favorite episodes is our interview with Mike Hayes, episode 23, Popple, episode 20 and the SQPN simulcast, episode 10. Take a listen to this episode as we highlight some of our favorite episodes and provide some commentary on them.
Looking ahead at next year, we’ve got some really fun shows lined up and we are excited to share them with you. We thank you for time in listening to our show. We are excited to see what this next year brings for everyone.
