Your Default Isn’t Broken: Healing Habits, Triggers, and Returning to Your True Self

We often hear that our “default behaviors” are the problem : that we need to break bad habits, fix our coping mechanisms, or override our nervous system. But what if default behavior itself isn’t the enemy? In this episode, we explore a gentler and more truthful idea:Your current defaults may be survival-based, but your original nature : your true self : was never broken. Before trauma, before coping, before behavioral adjustments meant to keep you safe, you had a natural way of being. Curious. Connected. Responsive. That version of you still exists : and the more you reconnect with yourself, the more your system naturally wants to return there. We talk about:How trauma reshapes the Default Mode Network and creates automatic behavioral patternsWhy triggers and coping mechanisms aren’t failures : they’re adaptationsThe difference between survival defaults and your true self’s natural tendenciesWhy breaking bad habits doesn’t work without self-connectionHow replacing old habits with healthier ones happens through integration, not forcePractical ways to reconnect with yourself and gently rewire default behaviorHow nervous system regulation supports real, lasting changeThis episode reframes healing as remembering rather than fixing. When you stop fighting yourself and start listening, your system begins to choose healthier patterns on its own.You don’t need to become someone new.You need to come back to who you were : before you had to survive. If you’re healing from childhood trauma, relationship trauma, or stuck in cycles of triggers and default behaviors, this episode will help you reconnect with your true self and build change that actually lasts.

Overcoming the Past: Healing Childhood and Relationship Trauma Without Shame

Overcoming the past isn’t about erasing what happened : it’s about loosening the grip it still has on how you see yourself and the world. For many of us healing from childhood trauma or relationship trauma, our ways of thinking were shaped by moral rules, rigid belief systems, and survival-based coping that were never chosen...only inherited. In this episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, we explore why asking “why?” is not rebellion : it’s a foundational act of healing. Questioning the narratives you were handed is how you begin to find your way back to yourself and into a life that actually feels like thriving. We talk about:How shame is often used to force behavioral change : and why it leaves us stuck in internal spiralsWhy vulnerability is the antidote to shameHow to practice vulnerability with yourself when offering it to others isn’t safe yetWhat it means to sit with your feelings without fixing, judging, or abandoning yourselfHow two seemingly opposing truths can coexist at the same timeWhy being unloved, unseen, or mistreated was never proof of your worthlessness : only proof of others’ limitationsThis episode gently reminds you of a truth trauma tried to erase:Just because they couldn’t love you well doesn’t mean you weren’t worthy of love. You prove your worth now : not by perfection, but by every breath, every effort, and every moment of self-compassion you offer yourself. If you’re navigating healing childhood wounds, recovering from unhealthy relationships, or learning how to release shame and rebuild self-trust, this episode will meet you where you are : and walk with you forward, one baby step at a time. You are worthy. And you’re proving it to yourself every single day.

Healing Isn’t Linear: Panic Attacks, Progress, and Learning to See Your Wins

Healing isn’t linear: and this week, I’m sharing a real example of that truth. I had three panic attacks, and it was still a good week. Not because the anxiety felt good, but because woven inside the struggle were signs of real, meaningful growth.

In the middle of a hard situation, I showed up as my regulated self: calm, grounded, present. I responded instead of reacting. I stayed connected to my body instead of spiraling into old trauma patterns. And that matters.

This episode explores how progress in trauma healing, nervous system regulation, and emotional resilience rarely looks “pretty.” Sometimes it looks like shaking hands, deep breaths, and choosing compassion after panic. Sometimes it looks like surviving the wave and still choosing yourself afterward.

You are not failing because your healing feels messy.
You’re becoming.
And the more you train your mind to notice your wins: your regulation, your awareness, your self-compassion: the more they expand.

You are worth the effort of creating a life where you feel safe, supported, and deeply loved… especially by yourself.

This episode walks with you gently through panic, progress, and the truth that healing is anything but linear: and that’s okay.

Post-Holiday Triggers: How to Regulate Your Nervous System and Return to Your True Self

The holidays can stir up every part of us : old wounds, family triggers, exhaustion, resentment, sadness, and that familiar feeling of emotional chaos.
If you’re feeling cracked open after a gathering, you’re not broken. You’re human, and you’re carrying the echoes of past pain that deserve attention, not shame.

In this episode, I walk you through the exact trauma-informed practices I use after emotional overload : tools that help you create space for all your feelings, soothe activated parts, and come back to your true self with compassion.

We explore:

  • How to recognize emotional triggers without spiraling

  • Why your nervous system reacts so intensely after family gatherings

  • Gentle somatic tools to regulate in the moment

  • How to sit with activated parts without suppressing or judging them

  • How to rebuild internal safety after chaos

  • Ways to cultivate peace and grounding during the holiday season

  • How self-compassion moves you out of survival mode and into healing

This episode blends nervous system regulation, inner child work, trauma-informed coping, and emotional resilience to help you navigate post-holiday overwhelm without abandoning yourself.

You don’t have to fear the chaos inside you.
You can listen to it.
You can tend to it.
And you can return home : to yourself.

Choosing Your Inner Truth Over Your Inner Critic

In this gentle, deeply human episode, we talk about what it really means to prioritize your own voice after a lifetime of being shaped by your parents’ expectations or your inner critic’s loud survival strategies.

If you’re beginning to notice the difference between your inner truth and the critic that was trained into you : that awareness alone is huge. Truly. That is something to celebrate.

So many of us grew up believing that safety came from meeting others' needs, reading their emotions, and silencing our own. Our critic was born to protect us, not punish us. And in this episode, we explore how to approach that part of you with grace instead of hostility.

Inside the episode, we walk through:

  • Why your parents’ voice or your inner critic still feels like the “default”

  • How your critic was an act of protection, not failure

  • Why separating from those old priorities is a complicated journey : not a simple formula

  • The power of sitting with your critic compassionately instead of fighting it

  • What it looks like to care for your body, your feelings, and your nervous system as you learn to show up for yourself

  • Different ways feelings may show up in your body and how to sit with them without shutting down

  • Tools to soften your self-talk and strengthen your connection to your real voice

This episode blends trauma-informed gentleness, emotional attunement, and practical support for healing CPTSD patterns, rewiring self-abandonment, and learning to trust yourself again.

It’s an invitation to come back home : to the voice you’ve been missing, and the truth that has always belonged to you.

Productive Doesn’t Mean Product: Redefining What It Means to Thrive

We’ve been told that productivity equals worth : that we must do to matter, achieve to belong, and produce to prove our value. But what if that’s never been true?

In this episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, we peel back the layers of hustle culture and explore what it really means to live a productive life : one measured not by output, but by aliveness.

Your joy is productive.
Your rest is productive.
Your healing, your laughter, your moments of simply being : they all count.

When we untangle our identity from the “product” of our effort, we make room for peace. We remember that thriving doesn’t come from constant striving : it comes from contentment, connection, and the quiet art of existing fully.

This episode invites you to release the “do more” conditioning of capitalism and come home to the truth that your existence is already enough.

Feelings Aren’t a Casket: Learning to Let Emotions Move Through You

We spend so much of our lives running from our feelings : afraid they’ll swallow us whole, afraid they’ll last forever. But emotions aren’t the casket we’re buried in… they’re the expression of our experience. In this episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, we dive into what it really means to feel again : after years of surviving, suppressing, and pretending. Because the truth is, emotions don’t destroy us; resisting them does. When we let our feelings rise, breathe, and move through us, they pass like weather — sometimes fierce, but always temporary. When we suppress them, they stay buried inside, eroding our peace, our health, and our connection to self. This is your reminder that it’s safe to feel.To cry. To rage. To ache. To laugh.Every emotion that surfaces is a message, not a punishment. And when you learn to meet your feelings with compassion instead of fear, you reclaim your freedom to live : fully, openly, and alive.#HealingJourney #CPTSDRecovery #EmotionalHealing #TraumaHealing #SelfCompassion #InnerHealing #EmotionalIntelligence #FeelToHeal #ComplexPTSD #HealingPodcast #EmotionalAwareness #ShadowWork

Tired of the Triggers: Turning Emotional Exhaustion into Healing

If you’re tired — tired of the triggers, the emotional spirals, the anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere — you’re not broken. You’re human. In this episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, we explore what’s really happening when you feel exhausted by your emotions. Those reactions — the panic, the shut down, the overthinking — aren’t proof of failure. They’re signals from the battlefield of pain you’ve already survived.Your body isn’t betraying you. It’s reminding you. That ache, that reaction, that fear — it’s not this moment demanding attention, it’s the past asking to finally be met with compassion. You have a choice: to treat your feelings with the same rejection they once received… or to offer them what they needed all along — your care, your company, your calm.Every time you soften toward yourself instead of shaming the trigger, you prove something sacred:You are worth loving. You are safe with you.You are building the bridge home.#HealingJourney #CPTSDRecovery #EmotionalHealing #TraumaRecovery #SelfCompassion #NervousSystemHealing #TriggerHealing #InnerHealing #ComplexPTSD #EmotionalRegulation #HealingPodcast #InTheNudePodcast

Beyond the Boxes: Finding Freedom in Flexibility

We were taught to fit inside boxes : good or bad, success or failure, right or wrong. But life, healing, and growth were never meant to be that small.

In this episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, we talk about what happens when we finally let those boxes fall away — when we stop seeing life in binaries and start allowing space for both/and.

Because real healing happens in flexibility. Just like a body that only lifts weights without stretching, a heart or mind that refuses to bend eventually breaks.
Here, we explore how releasing old rules and rigid expectations opens the door to more joy, peace, and authenticity.

What if failure was just a beginning?
What if loss could hold both grief and rebirth?
What if you could feel sadness and hope, and both could be true?

It’s time to move past either/or thinking and step into the expansive, nuanced, deeply human truth of living fully alive.

When You’re Just So Tired: Honoring Melancholy, Burnout, and the Need to Rest

There are seasons when your soul just feels tired — when even hope feels heavy, and all you want is to stop trying for a while. In this In the Nude episode, we’re talking about the quiet ache of melancholy and emotional exhaustion — how it often comes after giving too much, caring too deeply, and pushing far past your window of tolerance.

This isn’t about “fixing your attitude.” It’s about honoring your humanity. We’ll talk about why this drained, numb, foggy place shows up — how it’s a natural signal from your nervous system, not a failure — and how to refill what’s been emptied through gentleness, creativity, rest, and tiny glimmers of joy.

You don’t need to be perky or positive to be healing. You just need to be honest — and kind to yourself in the quiet.

Coming Home to Yourself: Healing Dissociation, Trusting Your Body, and Rebuilding Inner Safety

For so many of us with trauma, “home” has never been a place—it’s been something we’ve searched for in other people, in achievements, or in fantasies. When life felt unsafe, we learned to disconnect from ourselves, to dissociate, to silence our gut instincts just to survive. But true healing begins when we return home—to ourselves. 🌱In this episode of *In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing*, I share how to begin finding home within your own body and mind: learning to hear yourself again, reconnecting with your gut, and practicing grounding so you can stop abandoning yourself. This isn’t about perfection—it’s about learning the human, normal things we missed along the way, and choosing presence over old coping. When we rebuild that inner safety, we stop surviving and start thriving. Grieving the Fantasy: Letting Go of What Could Have Been and Embracing What Is

Sometimes the hardest loss isn’t a person—it’s the story we told ourselves about what life should look like. The relationship we thought would save us. The dream that didn’t unfold the way we planned. The fantasy version of life that felt safer than reality.

In this raw episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, I share the painful but powerful process of mourning the fantasy, facing what is, and finding a way forward. Healing after trauma often means realizing we fell in love with an idea, not reality—and sitting in the grief of that truth can feel unbearable.

But when we come back home to ourselves, when we accept reality with all its warts and cracks, we finally gain the power to choose. From that place, we can take the next step—not from illusion, but from truth.

If you’ve ever felt stuck between the life you imagined and the one you’re living, this episode is a reminder that healing begins with honesty, acceptance, and compassion for yourself in the mess of it all.

Reflecting Back, Dreaming Forward: How to Step Into the Future You Desire

Welcome to Season Two of *In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing*! 🌱 In this first episode, we’re looking both backward and forward—because healing and self-growth require both reflection and vision.Part of reaching the *“there”* we long for begins with pausing to notice how far we’ve already come. Reflection reminds us of the growth we’ve earned, the resilience we’ve built, and the ways we’ve already shifted. But creating the future we desire also means learning to sit in it, feel it, and act as if it’s already here.In this episode, I share how to practice embodying your dream reality now, and how to choose aligned actions that bring that vision to life. Because the “there” you’re moving toward isn’t built in the distance—it’s created in the present, choice by choice.#HealingJourney #SelfGrowth #CPTSDRecovery #PersonalTransformation #Manifestation #InnerHealing #AlignedAction #ReflectAndGrow

Moving Past Your Old Self: Healing CPTSD, Letting Go of Perfection, and Growing with Compassion

When we’ve lived in unsafe environments, we learn to survive by shaping ourselves around others—picking up their feelings, anticipating their moods, and giving away pieces of who we are just to feel safe. Even when we grow, heal, and reach safer places in life, those old patterns don’t just disappear. They can still be triggered, pulling us back into an “old self” we thought we’d outgrown.

In this vulnerable episode of In the Nude: The Naked Truth of Healing, I share personal stories from my own journey and break down what it really takes to move forward. It’s not about becoming “perfect” or never slipping back. It’s about sitting with ourselves in those moments without judgment, accepting failure as part of the process, and offering compassion to the parts of us that once kept us safe.

Healing CPTSD and self-growth aren’t about erasing your old self—they’re about honoring it, understanding it, and choosing to move forward with gentleness and truth.
