2020 Stephen received the Commander of the Order of the British Empire award for his contribution to Dance. His outstanding career and support for the arts and musical theatre, in particular, he has had a positive impact inspiring many. He received an Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreography in 2010 Regent's Park Open Air Theatre Production of Hello Dolly! His biography so long it could be made into a book.
