In our second episode, French Citizens and Religiosity on the Other Side of the Atlantic, our participants discuss religion, spirituality and non-religion. In particular, they share how their relationships to these matters have influenced their migratory path, their choice of province, and their settlement on this side of the Atlantic.

Dans notre premier épisode, « Les Français et la laïcité au-delà de l’hexagone, » nos participants installés à Montréal et Toronto partagent leurs opinions sur la laïcité, et sur la manière dont la province dans laquelle ils vivent gère les questions de diversité religieuse. Les questions autour de la laïcité sont particulièrement importantes pour nos participants installés au Québec puisque cette province a récemment légiféré sur le sujet.

In our first episode, “French Citizens and Secularism Beyond the Republic,” our Montreal- and Toronto-based participants share their views on secularism, and how the province in which they live manages issues of religious diversity. Questions surrounding secularism are particularly important for our participants in Quebec, as this province has recently legislated on the subject.

Les Français sont aujourd’hui le premier groupe migratoire au Québec et le neuvième au Canada. La série balado ‘Les Français en Mouvement’ explore cette récente migration. Vous y entendrez les voix de certains Français qui ont participé à notre projet de recherche, la Laïcité en mouvement, et qui nous explique pourquoi ils sont venus s’établir au Canada, et comment cette migration influence leur compréhension de la place de la religion dans nos sociétés, ainsi que leur propre relation avec la spiritualité, la religion et la non-religion.

The French are the leading migratory group in Quebec and the ninth largest in Canada. This podcast series 'The French on the Move' explores this recent immigration. You will hear the voices of some of the French people who took part in our research project, Secularism on the Move, as they explain why they came to Canada, and how this migration has influenced their understandings of the roles of religion in our societies, as well as their own relationships with spirituality, religion and non-religion.
