Chapters 46-48 of Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami. We’ve done it, we’ve reached the end! Technically the fic was already over, but we’ve got three(!) epilogues to cover, in which the author answers all of our burning questions about the story. Per podcast tradition, we’re taking a look at the reviews this fanfic got in our second segment, and then finally it’s time to announce what we’ll be covering next!
Content warnings: The usual for this story.
Chapters 43-45 of Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami. This is the end of the fic, sorta! We’ve still got the epilogues (there are three of them) to cover next time, but we’ve reached the end of the story proper. There’s also a big, awesome, epic twist that the author would like to remind you is very epic and awesome, so you’d better look forward to it. For our second segment, we’re getting into the spooky season a little early and taking a look at Darker Yagami - Dark Yagami gets Dark, a side story which is far far too scary by far.
Content warnings: You know the drill by now.
Chapters 39-42 of Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami. We’re nearing the end of the fanfic, so naturally there’s some sort of epic showdown happening and the cast is killing each other more than usual. We also listened to Death Note: The Musical during our hiatus, and we’ve got a lot to say about it (including some Frozen 2 hot takes, mostly unrelated).
Content warnings: As usual for this story.
Chapters 35-38 of Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami… except that according to the author, these are chapters 32-35, since he wrote himself into a corner and had to back up to an earlier point in the timeline. Will things play out differently this time? Will any of it make any sense? (No.) In the second segment we continue digging into the author’s Twitter account to look at some EPIC fanart and even read some poignant quotes from the author himself.
Content warnings: As usual there's some mild cartoon violence and some vague references to nudity and "sexing."
Chapters 30-34 of Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami. As usual, there’s a lot going on in this story: we’ve got mind control, Lego coffins, time-traveling trains, a cyberspace adventure, Soichiro Yagami going to McDonald's, a chapter allegedly so sexy you will get too turned on and die, and so on. We also discovered the author’s old Twitter account, so for our second segment we read through a choose-your-own-adventure story told through Twitter polls.
Content warnings: Same as usual for this author, plus we spend a little time investigating a Death Note parody that’s mostly just a series of fat jokes.

Chapters 27-30 of Light and Dark The Adventures of Dark Yagami. Intermission is over! We’re back to the world of Death Note, and the cast is disguising themselves as other characters, killing each other, and “sexing” as per usual. However, we’re not quite done with Metroid High School yet, either — it’s time to check out 111SAMUSRIDLEY4EVA2006-chan’s final story, Tio Juan: Fusion.
Content warnings: Usual warnings for Light and Dark (cartoon violence, death, mild sexual content, etc.). Tio Juan: Fusion is a little bit weird about the main character being Mexican, as in Metroid High School, but probably nothing too egregious.
Now that we’ve finished reading the fanfic, watching the fanime, and playing the video game, it’s time to take a look at Blood Raining Night as a whole and give some closing thoughts! We talk about the video game and also spend some time going through the author’s DeviantArt account looking at her older journal entries, as it appears Rachael went through a little character arc of her own and became more mature over the course of creating BRN. Then we reveal what we'll be tackling next on the podcast!
Content warnings: brief mentions of sensitive material present in the previously covered chapters including violence and sexual assault, plus some casual racism from our weaboo author.

Our New Game + run of Maid Madness:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tZ2zCho8wk
Chapters 27-28 of Blood Raining Night. We’re closing in on the end of the story! This week we learn a lot of new information that it sure would have been nice to know earlier, Reicheru learns to practice self-love in a surprisingly literal fashion, and we have a nice relaxing island getaway with no murder involved at all, definitely not! We also finished up watching the fanime this week.
Content warnings: death, gore and violence, body horror, some fairly mild sexual content, uh… clone sex? If that bothers anybody.
Chapters 25-26 of Blood Raining Night. We only cover two chapters this time but there’s still a lot to dig into here — like curvy meatloaf, questionable fiancé behavior, suspicious boys of indeterminate age, and dildo arms. In the second half we discuss episode 9 of the fanime, which reveals Reicheru’s tragic backstory and explains why her dad hates her, but doesn’t explain why we’re supposed to be on her side about it.
Content warnings: ableism and racism, both within and outside the context of the story, in addition to the fanime version of the previously covered nonconsensual abortion that doesn't work.
Chapters 19-21 of Blood Raining Night. This week we go shopping for some "maid's dresses," invite a lesbian couple to witness an epic wedding murder prank, and learn why you shouldn't order burritos on a first date. Afterwards we cover episode 7 of the fanime, which is probably the weirdest yet.
Content warnings: mentions of blood, gore, and other bodily fluids, creepy and suggestive dialog, an instance of ableist language, and the protagonist being incredibly, cruelly unsympathetic to multiple characters who have suffered abuse.
Chapters 7-8 of Forbiden Fruit: The Tempation of Edward Cullen. We don’t want to spoil anything that happens in these final two chapters of the story, as things go in some… rather unexpected directions this time! We also watched the second and final season of the My Immortal webseries, which we discuss in the latter half of the episode.
Content warnings: sexual assault again, as well as some apparently consensual but still very strange bestiality (it’s hard to explain).
Chapters 4-6 of Forbiden Fruit: The Tempation of Edward Cullen. This week we go to the beach, attend a high school talent show, and learn about why Ewdard is promised to Bella (it's because he made a promise). In our closing segment we discuss the first season of the My Immortal webseries.
Content warnings: there are more references to sexual assault this week (as stated before, it’s not something we can avoid talking about with this story), though nothing as explicit as the previous episode. There's also a brief mention of self-harm.
