Autumn Proctor is a second-generation artist, Bob Ross Certified Instructor, and the owner of Traveling Art Parties — a mobile art experience serving the greater Tampa Bay area. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and raised in Spring Hill, Florida, Autumn grew up surrounded by creativity as the daughter of a tattoo artist. After overcoming addiction, trauma, and a near-death liver failure experience, she rebuilt her life through painting, teaching, and helping others rediscover their creative spark.
For nearly a decade, Autumn has taught college students, seniors, beginners, and children — guiding people who swear they “can’t paint” into discovering real confidence and creative joy. She specializes in oils, but her toolkit spans acrylics, charcoal, graphite, tattooing, and custom commissions. Through Traveling Art Parties, she brings art directly into communities, fundraisers, homes, and recovery spaces, making creativity accessible for all.
In this episode, MP and Autumn dive into:
• Her upbringing in a family of artists & early entry into teaching
• Sobriety, recovery, and art as a healing force
• The transition from tattooing to painting to business ownership
• How Traveling Art Parties became a community movement
• Raising funds for veterans & storm victims through art
• The magic of watching someone who “can’t paint” create a masterpiece
• What it means to keep a diverse artistic toolbox
• The emotional, spiritual, and therapeutic power of creativity
• How Bob Ross shaped her teaching style & confidence-building approach
This is an inspiring, funny, and deeply human conversation about healing through art, creating community, and finding purpose after pain.
