James van Riemsdyk is on a career-long 4-game goal streak, and has scored in 6 of the last 7. He is Detroit's hottest scorer, but he isn't alone. Detroit has scored 3+ goals in 11/14 games and ranks 3rd in total goals for in the last 14 games. Is it sustainable? Previewing the Calgary Flames. #LGRW
John Gibson has had struggles this season, so i'm sure this 39 save shutout for his 1st with Detroit felt very cathartic. And Detroit surely appreciated it, as the offense responded in kind. James van Riemsdyk, Nate Danielson, Andrew Copp and Dylan Larkin all found twine. #LGRW
Patrick Kane had a vintage clutch moment late in the third period, ensuring Detroit left Seattle with at least a point. But it was the man drafted just after him in 2007, James van Riemsdyk, who has been clutch the last week in a half. Meanwhile, Seider and Edvinsson have been hands down the best pair in the league. #LGRW
Pride and disappointment. The Red Wings overcome two seperate defecits and take a 3rd period lead, showing a ton of heart. But, Cam Talbot struggled in net, continuing to exaperate Detroit's goalie woes as the Blue Jackets win in the shootout. Moritz Seider has 200 career points. #LGRW
The Vancouver Canucks have indicated they are willing to listen on their veterant. And even though they have said they are NOT shopping Hughes yet, NHL insiders can't help but utter the Detroit Red Wings and Quinn Hughes in the same sentence? Does the fit make sense? Previewing the Columbus Blue Jackets. #LGRW
The Red Wings generated 5 goals in this hockey game. 3 of which off the rush and 1 on the power play, providing catharsis as Detroit finally found the back of the net in ways they had been struggling. Moritz Seider's three points helped lead the way for the Red Wings, as they snap their 4-game losing streak in their win over the Boston Bruins. #LGRW
The Detroit Red Wings are in a funk right now they can't seem to snap out of. Friday's noon game against the Lightning was a loss like we've seen a lot lately, where simple defensive lapses cost them. Saturday against the Bruins was a much better performance defensivley, but Detroit struggled to get and offense going. Michael Rasmussen came back from injury and had a good weekened with 2 goals and an assist, and Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin stayed hot. #LGRW
The Red Wings have no scoring down their forward group and no ability to score on odd man rushes. The Red Wings commit simple mistakes that prove largely costly. The Red Wings allowed 5 goals in the 3rd to the LAST PLACE Nashville Predators, a team that has not scored five in a game all season. #LGRW
The Detroit Red Wings have been playing the most consistent hockey they have in years. But they still are not without flaw. One of those flaws is how thin their defense is past the top pair. Is there more cavalry on the way? Or can they maximize what they have? #LGRW
Travis Hamonic had one of the worst defensive games i've seen, and it hurt the Red Wings at every turn. Despite that, Detroit carried the game and pushed real hard to comeback, but just fell shot. Tempers flared between the teams too as New Jersey took exception to a hit to Nico Hischier, and the Red Wings to Lucas Raymond. #LGRW
The Red Wings made a late comeback over the Blue Jackets thanks to third period goals from Ben Chiarot and Moritz Seider, but could not have been possible without Cam Talbot making a huge save on shorthanded breakaway just prior to the game-tying goal. Alex DeBrincat then sealed the win with an incredible shot. On Sunday, Erik Gustafsson was recalled, and Elmer Soderblom was placed on IT. #LGRW
The Detroit Red Wings were bound for a stinker, but it coming while John Gibson is in net is becoming all too common. Gibson allows 4+ goals in 7 of his 12 starts, and while the Red Wings poor puck management and deflections certainly didn't help, he needs to be better. the Red Wings play Columbus Saturday. #LGRW
Nate Danielson collected his 1st NHL goal and assist in a nice win over the Kraken, and arguably should have had one more as well. Emmitt Finnie broke his drought as well and Dylan Larkin score his 600th career point with an ENG. The Detroit Red Wings sit atop the Atlantic Division. #LGRW
Trey Augustine and Max Plante are dominating the NCAA. Augustine is pimping a .943sv% with #1 ranked MSU, while Plante is leading the NCAA in scoring with Minnesota-Duluth. In the AHL, the Griffins are off to a 10-0-1 start, the best in franchise history, despite top prospects being called up or hurt. Detroit hosts the Seattle Kraken Tuesday. #LGRW
Lucas Raymond is red hot, scoring 5-points over the weekend helping Detroit secure 3/4 points. While we will take `1-0-1 weekend, how it happened can't be ignored. A blown 4-1 lead against the Sabres on Saturday meant getting just 1 of a possible 2 points. But, on Sunday the Red Wings grinded out a win in New York against a very tough defensive team in the Rangers. #LGRW
The Red Wings FINALLY break through for 6 goals, and did it by going to the net. DeBrincat scored twice, while Berggren, Seider, Raymond and Larkin all had multi-point games. Special teams also bounced back going 3/3 on the PK and 2/4 on the PP. Gibson plays great, but is replaced in the 3rd with an injury. #LGRW
The Red Wings scoring drought is well documented at this point. With three days off Todd McLellan has had plenty of time to experiment with new looks to try and wake up the offense. One of those is to blow up and reassemble the PP units. Nate Danielson is promoted to PP unit 1, while Kane and Cat are on PP2. #LGRW
The first month of the NHL season has been anything but chalk in the Atlantic Division. Montreal has surged to 22pts and the top of the Atlantic Division, while the Maple Leafs are fighting it out in 7th. But the gap between those two isn't as big as you may think. Which teams in the Atlantic is real, and which are pretenders. #LGRW
During Sunday's media availability Todd McLellan mentioned how they called Nate Danielson because they needed to see what they had in him before making decisions on other players. Does this mean someone is getting waived? Or does it mean something more significant is coming? What did we think of Danielson's debut, and what do we hope he can provide to the team? #LGRW
