Love Has Many Faces
A Conversation with Heather Reichel of Pet Recovery Center
Heather is a long time animal lover and veterinary assistant. She saw a need for a facility that would offer a safe space for dogs, or any pets, recovering from surgery and needing round the clock care—perhaps hourly medications, bandage changing, and other services in those first, critical 3-5 days after surgery-- that a pet parent might not be able to manage without some help.    The Pet Recovery Center also works with reactive dogs. Some dogs are unable to stay in regular boarding facilities due to reactivity but Heather has a history of working with reactive pets and offers them a safe place to stay while their families are away.   The Pet Recovery Center is located in the Spanaway/Pierce County area but will accept pets from all over the region. Love Has Many Faces
Beloved Pets Past and Present/A Conversation with host Marilyn Milano and producer Eric Reidar
The holidays can often bring out feelings of nostalgia, some sweet and some more melancholy. We often reminisce about some of those who have left us, while still appreciating what we do have. Today Marilyn spoke about the wonderful pets she has had throughout her life and how each one brought something different to the table and co-created their own “story”. And how the dogs she has now are doing what they do best—being themselves, showing love, and bringing smiles. The main thought—each animal we bring into our lives will bring us something unique and special if we just give it time to develop and grow. Wishing all peace, joy and love this holiday season! MM   Along with the podcasts you can also hear “Love Has Many Faces” on 1150 KKNW from 9 to 9:30 Pacific Time on Tuesday mornings—either on the air or on www.1150kknw.com See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A Conversation with Bonnie Harlan of “Prevent Pet Suffocation”
Many well-meaning and loving pet parents do not realize that their beloved pet can suffocate within 3 to 5 minutes in a snack bag, cereal box, peanut butter jar, or even a dog treat bag, just to name a few “culprits”. Bonnie started her non-profit when she lost her own dog in 2011 to pet suffocation. Now her goal is to educate, raise awareness, and prevent as many of these losses as possible. There are simple things one can do to protect their pets and you can learn more, and learn how you can also help them spread the word at www.preventpetsuffocation.com Please take the time to learn about this and how we can prevent it, and share as widely as you can. Thank you! Love Has Many Faces
A Conversation with Jeff Evans of “Angels With Misplaced Wings”
We are thrilled to bring Jeff Evans back for some updates on this wonderful organization. Angels with Misplaced Wings is a home-based, non-profit sanctuary located in the Vancouver, Washington area. It was founded by Jeff Evans who was inspired by his childhood experience with animals. The name reflects a loving sentiment, as Jeff’s mother would refer to animals with flipped-back ears as “angels with misplaced wings”. This sanctuary focuses on caring for animals that are often overlooked due to their special needs or age, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment.   Visit www.angelswithmisplacedwings.org to learn more, and also to find out about their current (December 2025) fundraiser—this is a creative and unique partnership where you’ll be able to provide kids with Lego sets AND help the sanctuary at the same time! Love Has Many Faces
A Conversation with Melanie Ryan of Beck’s Place
Imagine that you are in a situation where you are unable to care for your pet temporarily. Maybe you are in the hospital for surgery or treatment. Maybe you are trying to leave a domestic violence situation, or get help for substance abuse.. Or perhaps you are facing losing your home due to rent being raised or your building being sold. It makes it MUCH harder to deal with these situations when you’re worried about what will happen to your beloved pet. Many people choose not to get treatment they might need unless their pet is safe. Beck’s Place helps place animals in temporary foster homes throughout the Puget Sound region while their owners are getting the help they need. 90% of these pets are reunited with their owners once things get better.   Beck’s Place serves clients in Snohomish County and they are having a special event on Monday Sept. 15th. Join in person, or online for the auction only. And learn more about this event, and their wonderful ongoing work, at www.becksplace.org See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A Conversation with Lori Cohen of The Beagle Alliance
The Beagle Alliance is a rescue and advocacy group working to reduce and eventually end animal testing, and also working to find homes for animals who have been released from laboratory research. Although The Beagle Alliance operates in Canada they also work in tandem with rescue and advocacy partners in the US. Our conversation touches on reasons why animal testing is still being done even though it’s often not relevant or useful, and on what we can each do to help educate and inform more people about viable alternatives. Learn more at www.thebeaglealliance.org See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Love Has Many Faces
A conversation with Rise (rhymes with Lisa) Windell, Photographer at Windell Portraits.
A conversation with Rise (rhymes with Lisa) Windell, Photographer at Windell Portraits.   In 2021, after losing her beloved black Lab Layla suddenly and unexpectedly, Rise found a way to channel some of the profound grief she was feeling. Since Labs are often known for being hungry food lovers, she remembered thinking “NO one should go hungry” so she set out to raise money for the Nourish Pierce County Food Banks, so far raising over $23,000.    Rise uses her PawPrints promotions periodically to raise money for the food banks. She is a pet photographer and PawPrints is the name she coined for a style of photography she does. To quote: “ I lie under a glass platform with my camera and photograph pets from underneath them for a unique perspective. I collaborate with Notre Dog Academy owner/trainer Stephanie Beausoleil. She positions the pets on the glass and gets them to look toward the camera for me. Lots of treats are involved. So much fun.”   Rise also loves to photography pets with their humans so that long after they have left us we will still have beautiful and heartwarming photos to help remember them.   Learn more at www.windellportraits.com See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A conversation with author Rebecca Schaper
AFTER THE SUDDEN, UNEXPECTED PASSING OF REBECCA'S DOG GUS She consulted animal communicator Sunny Mann, beginning a lengthy and revealing correspondence. Sunny reported her dialogue with Gus in the afterlife at various times throughout the next year. This moving story includes the transcripts of those psychic sessions, along with Rebecca's notes from her daily journal as she responds to both earthly and spiritual guidance from Gus. His spirit describes his life in both worlds, and he urges her to embrace fully her life contract as a shamanic practitioner and healer. Rebecca’s book is called “Roses to Rainbow: My Dog Gus in the Afterlife.” Learn more about Rebeca’s work at www.rebeccaschaper.com See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A Conversation with Jenny Hubbard of The Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation
We are always so pleased to welcome back returning guest Jenny Hubbard of the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation. This organization was founded in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook tragedy, where Catherine lost her life. Catherine was a lover of all animals and living creatures and always wanted the animals to know that she was kind and they’d be safe with her. Support grew and donations of money and land led to the creation of the sanctuary. Today’s conversation focuses on the work the foundation is doing, which emphasizes kindness and compassion for all creatures, the first building about to be completed on the property (Catherine’s Learning Barn) and Catherine’s Butterfly Party which is held on the Saturday closest to Chaterine’s birthday each year. This year it will be held on June 7th. There are opportunities to volunteer and donate and to learn more please visit www.cvhfoundation.org  See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
