General Sullivan has served as an Army JAG Corps Officer since 1996, serving nine years on active duty before transitioning to the reserves in 2005. In his civilian practice, General Sullivan has been a Department of Justice prosecutor, worked in procurement law positions for the Veterans Administration and Army Futures Command, and, earlier this year, transitioned to private practice at Clark Hill in Austin, Texas, where he focuses on government contracts law.

While deployed to Iraq in 2006 as the V Corps Chief of Justice, Brad Huestis prosecuted soldiers for war crimes violations involving the murders of Iraqi detainees. His newly released book, The Big Bad, is a fictionalized account of his experiences confronting issues concerning the rules of engagement, wartime ethics, and the role of JAG attorneys that continue to resonate today.

After twelve years in private practice and volunteering with the Coast Guard Auxiliary for several years, John attended Reserve Officer Candidate Indoctrination earlier this year and earned his commission as a Coast Guard Reserve Officer. Bryan served for over 30 years in the Infantry with multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Bosnia. He also served as a Foreign Area Officer and met his wife while attending Command and General Staff College in Brazil. During his last assignment, Bryan attended law school at night and now focuses on commercial litigation and business law at Dinsmore and Shohl in Tampa, Florida.

Pat Regan served eight years as an active-duty JAG, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Pat’s work as a trial counsel and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney enabled him to initially transition to a litigation role with Progressive Insurance. His experience advising military commanders later assisted him as he moved to in-house regulatory roles, including his current position with Mercury, a financial tech company.

Raj, an Army Engineer, spent five years on active-duty building bridges. After obtaining an MBA from Rice University, Raj became an investment banker, working 80 to 100 hours a week. The demanding pace caught up with Raj and contributed to his divorce. When Raj was served with the divorce paperwork, though, it sparked an idea that led to him becoming the owner of Lonestar Attorney Service.

After playing college baseball at Newberry College in South Carolina and graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law, Steven served in the Marine Corps, including a deployment as part of Security Assistance Group—Ukraine. Last fall, Steven transitioned to Jenner and Block in Washington, D.C., where he is a member of the firm’s Investigations, Compliance, and Defense Practice. His experience motivated him to start the Vets to Big Law LinkedIn group.

After ten years of active-duty service, including two deployments to Iraq and two tours in Korea, Kenny decided to go to law school.
