🎁 Episode 25 – All the Presents… 🎁
The Miller Morning Madhouse Advent Calendar (The Whole Damn Thing)
This is it. The big one. The entire Advent Calendar… unwrapped, dumped on the floor, and re-assembled into one glorious, unhinged, 2½-hour episode of Miller Morning Madhouse madness.
Every bit. Every joke. Every musical moment. Every rant, laugh, argument, accidental insight, and festive derailment from December all packed into one long, cozy (and occasionally chaotic) listen. If you missed an episode, this is your cheat code. If you heard them all… congratulations, you’re now legally part of the show.
More than anything, this episode is a love letter to Miller. To our friends, neighbors, collaborators, guests, musicians, sponsors, weirdos, and community institutions who showed up, jumped in, lent their voices, their time, and their patience to this very dumb podcast.
We truly love you all. This show only works because of the people around us the laughs in the room, the texts afterward, the “hey, I listened” comments in the wild. That’s the good stuff.
Thank you for spending December with us. Thank you for supporting local nonsense. Thank you for being part of the Madhouse.
We’re going to take a breath, drink some water, and we’ll be back this spring with a brand-new season; louder, dumber, and somehow even more heartfelt.
Until then…
Stay weird. Stay local. Stay Miller.
Episode 24 – Caroling… Caroling…
The episode features two festive musical moments: “The 12 Days of Miller,” performed by Jerry Pancake, Jen Pancake, and Josh Scramble, followed by a joyful rendition of “Feliz Navidad” performed by the incredible folks from the Miller Community Theatre.
Somehow, in the middle of a board meeting, the theatre crew grabbed songbooks, found their harmonies, and generously took time out of their night to help record for this dumb podcast — and we couldn’t be more grateful. It’s exactly the kind of community chaos that makes Miller, Miller.
It’s heartfelt, a little unpolished, unexpectedly beautiful, and ends exactly the way Christmas in the neighborhood should — with laughter, music, and someone urgently announcing that we need to leave the neighborhood immediately.
Huge thanks to the Miller Community Theatre for always showing up, pitching in, and proving once again that Miller has the best people anywhere.
Merry Christmas from all of us at the Miller Morning Madhouse.
Episode 23 – ’Twas 2 Nights Before Christmas… (Read by a Ghost)
On December 23rd, the Miller Morning Madhouse takes a quieter, creepier, and very local turn. Told in the spirit of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas and narrated from beyond the dunes by the ghost of Diana of the Dunes, this episode captures a perfect Miller Beach Christmas Eve.
From cars stuck in half-snow, half-sand… to Flamingo patrons holding drinks while tow trucks do their thing… from trivia night rage to pizzas flying out of Miller Pizza… from boaters blasting terrible music to locals losing their minds at stop signs — it’s all here.
This is Miller Beach as it really is: funny, messy, frustrating, lovable, and home.
No puppets. No yelling. Just a poetic snapshot of the neighborhood we know and love — ending the only way it can:
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Episode 22 – “Looking Back and Road Trippin’”
The Miller Morning Madhouse crew looks back at their favorite moment of 2025—and unsurprisingly, Flamingo Fest and the legendary porta-potty broadcast steal the crown. Josh, Jerry & Jen revisit country songs, bullshit, drunken confusion, and the golden-shower chaos that changed the podcast forever.
The gang also talks future road trips, listener call-ins, QR code surprises, Key Largo, Buc-ee’s brisket cowboys, Dr Pepper vs. Pepsi philosophy, kamikaze soda mixes, and why Miller people will scan anything if you ask nicely.

🎄 Episode 21 – Hire Someone Else… Like a Clown… 🤡
The Miller Morning Madhouse Advent Calendar rolls on with Chad Bacon Burton in studio, talking Christmas music, holiday gigs, and why asking for Christmas songs might mean you should hire someone else. Things quickly derail into Bee Gees debates, Burl Ives nostalgia, and an unforgettable childhood story involving Killer Klowns from Outer Space… followed by an actual clown showing up at the door. Merry Christmas, nightmare fuel included.

🎄 Part of the Miller Morning Madhouse Advent Calendar
🎄 Episode 20 – “It’s a Beautiful Pancake…”
The Advent Calendar rolls on with a surprisingly sweet opener as one of Miller’s own tiny children, Annie, kicks things off singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” From there, Jerry, Jen, Josh, and guest Chad Burton spiral into a very honest (and very funny) debate about Christmas decorating — or more specifically, why Jen Pancake does not see the point of it at all.
The conversation wanders from outdoor lights, attic mishaps, and near-death ladder experiences to hard rules about when decorations are allowed, holiday resentment, and Jerry’s general dislike of… well, most holidays. Along the way, we learn who actually decorates, who “helps” by drinking and watching, and why Christmas may just be an illusion of warmth for one night a year.
🎙️ Episode 19: Opening Gifts and That Vintage Smell…
December 19 – Miller Morning Madhouse Advent Calendar
What starts as a simple holiday question — did you ever just grab a random gift from under the tree? — quickly derails into a full-blown nostalgia spiral. Jerry, Josh, Jen Pancake, and special guest Chad Burton unwrap memories of mislabeled presents, fake blender boxes, prank gifts gone wrong, encyclopedias that smelled like cigarettes, and that unmistakable “grandma’s house” basement funk that somehow still feels like home.

Episode 18: A Musical Gift from Chad…
Today’s Advent Calendar drop is something special. We’re thrilled to feature “Christmas Wish,” an original song written by Darren Locasto and Chad Burton, produced and arranged by Chad Burton, and performed by Brian Hemstock and Chad Burton.
Chad joined us in studio to add his own musical magic to the Miller Morning Madhouse Advent Calendar, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the gift.
You can catch Chad performing all over the Region — both solo, with his wife Nicole Garza, and with The Ramos Band, including regular shows at the Hard Rock Casino and beyond.
🎄 Live Alert: See Chad this Friday, December 19th at the Isaac Walton League Miller Chapter for the Jingle & Mingle Adult Christmas Party! Doors: 6 PM • Chad hits at 7:30 PM.
This holiday season, sit back and enjoy this beautiful original track — a true Christmas wish delivered straight to Miller Beach.
🎄 Episode 17: We’re Sorry, Chad…
What was supposed to be a festive, musical Advent episode turned into a full-blown basement disaster. When professional musician Chad Burton stopped by the Miller Morning Madhouse, our wildly unprepared setup (vintage mixer, mystery cords, and loose tinsel everywhere) quickly exposed the gap between “professional recording studio” and “guys who bought equipment because it had cool lights.”
🎶 Go see Chad Burton live!
Catch Chad this Friday, December 19th at the Isaac Walton League – Miller Chapter for the Jingle & Mingle Adult Christmas Party. Doors at 6 PM, Chad hits the stage at 7:30 PM. You can also see him regularly around the Region, solo with his wife Nicole Garza, and with The Ramos Band, often at the Hard Rock Casino.

🎙️ Episode 16: “Oh Yeah…It’s Your Birthday…” (Dec 16) — The Josh Scramble Birthday Special!
It’s Josh Scramble’s actual birthday, so the Madhouse crew does what it does best: celebrates with love… and immediately turns it into a group therapy session for anyone born within blast radius of Christmas. Special guest local music legend Chad “Bacon” Burton drops into the (very mid) basement studio, roasts our setup with his manly radio voice, and joins the debate on the cruelest holiday tradition of all: the dreaded “one gift for both” birthday/Christmas combo. We also take a nostalgic detour through Service Merchandise, catalogs heavy enough to commit a felony, and the eternal rule: if a kid has a December birthday, don’t be a dick—give two gifts.
🙏 Huge thanks to Chad Burton for stopping by and making the Advent Calendar even better…and if you’re local, catch him Fri, Dec 19 at the Isaac Walton League (Miller Chapter) for the Jingle & Mingle Adult Christmas Party (starts 6:00pm, Chad on 7:30pm).

🎙️ Episode 15: The Elf, Diddy, and Carlin…
Today’s Advent Calendar micro-dose dives into the unhinged world of Elf on the Shelf, where the gang debates why parents ever signed up for a nightly surveillance doll with a criminal imagination. Jerry dreams of staging his elf in scandalous “sugar” situations, Jen wants nothing to do with it, and Scramble wonders why this elf needs a full PR department on Facebook every December.
Somewhere between naughty elf pranks and model-train disasters, the trio detours into Melissa McCarthy commercials, George Carlin’s dildo-based commandments, and Diddy’s current “toilet wine” era. It’s Christmas commentary wrapped in pranks, pop culture, and pure Miller Morning Madhouse energy.

🎙️ Episode 14: Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel…
Today’s Advent Calendar micro-dose takes a wonderfully chaotic dive into Hanukkah — or rather, the version the three of you thought you understood growing up in Indiana. The gang reflects on how Adam Sandler’s “Hanukkah Song” was basically their first Judaism crash course, why none of them knew anyone lighting a menorah as kids, and how blue-and-white Christmas lights accidentally made their house look like a synagogue.

🎙️ Episode 13: This Playlist Could Cause a 72 Hour Hold…
In today’s festive meltdown, the gang dives headfirst into the emotional minefield that is Christmas music. Jen Pancake declares she hates Christmas and its soundtrack, Jerry passionately defends “Dominic the Donkey” and “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” and Josh Scramble questions what the hell “Deck the Halls” even means and why anyone is still using holly in the year 2024.
From thirsty Santa Claus cameos to the questionable consent of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” from Jesus' nonexistent songwriting catalog to the Three Wise Men showing up uninvited, the trio dismantles holiday classics with the precision of buzzed carolers wandering Lake Street at 1 a.m.

Today’s micro-dose of festive chaos dives into the dangerous history of Christmas trees — real, fake, flammable, and always surrounded by a 1970s fog of cigarette smoke. Jerry recalls the Cutlass-topped tree deliveries of his childhood, Jen marvels that any houses survived the decade, and Scramble defends his family’s lifelong loyalty to fake trees.

From smoky polyester kid robes and creepy vibrating tennis statues to a Steelers jersey picked out by a random child, expired Chi-Chi’s gift cards, balsa-wood dinosaur “fun,” and cartons of Camels, Jerry, Jen & Scramble unwrap the absolute bottom-tier holiday gifts of their lives. Along the way they reminisce about flea markets, encyclopedias, and why no kid actually wants “educational” presents for Christmas—then point you toward the only gifts that don’t suck: weird shirts from SoCoolShirts.com.

Episode 10 – It Was the Best of Times…
A micro-dose of smart-ass notes to listen while it snows.
December 10th brings a burst of Christmas nostalgia as Josh and Jerry share their best childhood gifts—bikes of every flavor, from neon-orange Huffys to yellow-fendered BMX dream machines. Jen remembers her pink Huffy and the day four-year-old her taught herself to ride by grabbing parked cars and hoping for the best.
Jerry also recalls his ultimate 1980s Christmas: a Betamax, Mattel handheld games, and the mighty Atari 800—thanks to McCormick Place vendors who didn’t want to ship their demo units home. Of course, not every Christmas was magical… Pancake relives the trauma of receiving a stocking full of Slim Jims instead of the robot he desperately wanted.
A warm, chaotic trip through the best (and worst) gifts of childhood.

Episode 9 – What Would Bob Barker Do?
A micro-dose of smart-ass holiday wisdom to listen to while it snows… or while you regret every Christmas gift you’ve ever bought.
In today’s festive rant, Josh Scramble unleashes on one of the great holiday crimes: buying a pet for Christmas. The gang breaks down why tiny bunnies turn into land piranhas, why children should not be trusted with anything that breathes, and why Florida should NOT be selling souvenir-shop turtles to tourists who definitely can’t keep them alive.
Jerry revisits the saga of Kira Pancake’s doomed pet turtles, Jen relives the sadness of watching baby sea turtles march toward statistically certain death, and Josh questions every white person who has ever booked a “sea turtle experience.” The group concludes that the only morally acceptable Christmas pet is a stuffed animal, because it won’t suffer when you forget to feed it.
A warm, cozy holiday episode full of cheer, judgment, animal ethics, and bad childhood memories — just how the Advent Calendar intended.

Episode 8 – Nut Sack to Bunghole
A micro-dose of smart-ass notes to listen while it snows… and while LBJ gets fitted for trousers with more “presidential breathing room.”
Josh Scramble kicks off December 8th with a full rant about Christmas gift-giving: why he doesn’t do it, why adults should just buy their own crap, and why buying clothes for another human being is a guaranteed friendship-ending event. Jen defends her tragic jean-purchasing mistake, Jerry reveals he was a toddler obsessed with vacuuming, and the crew debates whether anyone on earth actually needs more pants.
A warm holiday episode filled with poor gift choices, childhood trauma, and presidential crotch geometry.

Episode 7 – The Trashy Sledding Hill…
A micro-dose of winter chaos, childhood stupidity, and the kind of “holiday magic” you only get when you grow up sledding on a hill decorated with leftover car parts and questionable life choices.
Jerry, Josh, and Jen take a downhill trip through their childhood sledding memories — from exploding inner tubes to metal-blade death sleds to the shocking revelation of what Pancake and his brother used to stash in the sewer pipe for “reading” breaks. Jen defends garbage-bag sledding, Josh questions her citizenship, and Pancake unveils the lost art of sledding-and-sinning.
It’s snowy nostalgia… Miller style.

🎙️ Episode 6: Jen Likes Pies…
The crew dives fork-first into the holiday season with a full spread of Thanksgiving and Christmas classics — turkey, ham, beef roasts, deviled eggs, fudge, lasagna, fruitcakes that go straight to the trash, and enough cream pies to send Jerry into a spiritual awakening.
Jen confesses to liking all the pies, Josh defends the honor of Mama Scramble’s donuts, and Jerry relives the trauma of a pecan-less pecan pie. From sugary goo to chocolate meringue, the Madhouse celebrates (and insults) every dish that ever graced a Midwestern holiday table.
It’s cozy, it’s chaotic, it’s delicious — and it's Episode 6 of the Advent Calendar.
