In this powerful message from Mark 2:13–17, Pastor Joshua Daniels reminds us that Jesus didn’t call the perfect — He called the willing. Just like Levi and the crowd of outcasts gathered at the table, “They Are Like Us” reveals how God sees beyond labels and meets us right where we are. This sermon is a call to compassion, community, and change — because grace is for everybody.

Have you ever had life humble you in a way that felt painful or even humiliating? Did it leave a scar, or did it make you stronger? In the sermon "Thankful for My Thorn", Pastor Joshua Daniels reveals how God's grace shows up in our hardest, most shame-filled moments. Instead of breaking us, those moments shape us into who we’re meant to be and remind us of whose we are. Just like Paul had his "thorn in the flesh," we all face struggles and challenges that highlight our weaknesses. But in those moments, God's grace is more than enough. His power shows up in our weakness, and that's something we can be thankful for. You don’t want to miss Part 2 of the Thankful series! She vowed to dedicate her son to the Lord if He granted her this miracle. This narrative showcases the power of persistent prayer and God's ability to bring forth miracles in unlikely circumstances. #divineintervention #GodsPromise #HannahAndSamuel

The show, “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace,” isn’t doing very well, but I enjoy it.
I enjoy it, because Chris is an excellent interviewer and he has special guest weekly from likes of Tyler Perry to Shania Twain.
Each week, I can hardly wait to see who Chris will talk to next.
Similarly, whenever I heard the words of Jesus I’m quite interested as to who He’s talking to.
For instance, in Matthew 7:21-23, He tells people who call Him “Lord” and who are doing what He does that He doesn’t know them nor will they be with Him in heaven.
Who is Jesus talking to?
Join us tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at the Olive as we listen intently for who Jesus is talking to and how do we make sure He’s not talking to us.

“All that glitters isn’t gold,” is an aphorism that means everything is not as pure or true as it looks.
In fact, gold has to be tested to determine its authenticity and genuineness.
Likewise, all teachers who speak God’s name are not sent from God.
What type of test does Jesus recommend in Matthew 7:15-20 for discerning true and false prophets?

Imagine that you have been given a road map that leads to an amazing, all-inclusive resort.
The road to it however, has pot-holes, loose gravel and is under construction along the way.
Would you endure the journey or seek an alternate route to it?
I have discovered that many people want the best life possible with little to no difficulty.
Throughout the Sermon on the Mountain, Jesus has given instructions about this life and the life to come.
He ends the message with four warnings for us to heed.
This message deals with the first warning, which is the importance of choosing the right path that leads to the best life.

On the night Jesus was to be betrayed, He knew every word He uttered in that moment would carry extreme weight in the lives of His disciples then, now, and always.
Christ gives us a new commandment, that, when obeyed, will make us into the most
effective witnesses to the truth of Christianity that we can possibly be. The
key to reaching our community - and our world - for Christ is found in this three-word commandment of Jesus.

Are you a good person?
Besides you, who else agrees with your answer?
What do you use to measure the goodness that is within you?
Is it by what you don’t do but others do?
Or, is it by what you do, but others don’t?
Asking and answering the above questions were necessary for the people of Jesus’ day, as well as for us, to see the major effect the Golden Rule is intended to have on human goodness.
Sunday’s sermon will speak to the relevancy of this ancient and most popular statement made by Jesus.

The late civil rights heroine, Fannie Lou Hamer, once said, “If I fall, I’ll fall five feet, four inches forward in the the fight for freedom.”
Here’s what we can learn: During our lifetime we’re going to fail, we’re going to trip up, and we’re going to get knocked off our squares.
So, the question isn’t, will we fall?
The question is: will we get back on our feet after a fall?
Join us on Thursdays, beginning September 15th, at 6:30am for the Prayer Call series, Don’t Just Lie There; Get Up!
Have you texted, written, emailed, or received an affectionate thank-you lately?
The letter of Philippians was Paul’s thank-you letter to the church in Philippi.
How relevant is this letter?
Consider this questions to demonstrate its relevance:
Is it easy to live out your faith in Jesus?
Where are you going for true joy?
Where will you find meaning and purpose in life?
Do you need deep and encouraging Christian friendships?
Does your church need to grow in strength, wisdom, and knowledge?
For the answers to the above questions and many more, read this letter with the Mt. Olive family.
The Bible Study series, Welcome To Philippians, begins Tuesday, September 13th at Noon, and Wednesday, September 14th at 7pm.
It’s almost time for us to study again!
Beginning Sunday, September 11th, our Sunday School resumes virtually!
This quarter via zoom in our traditional adult Sunday school class at 8:15am, as well as our classes for children at 11:30am and youth at 12 noon, we will trace the arc of salvation history from Abraham to Jesus and on to the early church.
Books are also available during office hours.

Time has several measurements. Chronological time focuses our past, present, and future. The quantity of time is measured by our clocks and watches. There are other measurements, but quality is most important. Quality time is measured by purpose and people. Join us for the class Quality Time as we consider Moses' poem in Psalm 90 for six weeks via zoom on Sundays at 8:15am. Although we don't know how much time we have, we can make the most of the time we have!

Life will change you, but it doesn't have to break you. God does not bring us through the valley so that we can merely exist. On the contrary, He wants us to live. Join us on Sundays at 11:30am via zoom for the class Life Happens. Live Anyway!!
