Step through the door with us as we unpack the weird, whimsical and wonderfully creepy world of Coraline. We're talking all things spooky, smart, and what we learned from this blue haired little girl. Last spooky season movie for the year!
Wouldn't be spooky season without one of our all time faves, M. Night Shayamalan's Signs. If you're looking for a reason to leave out all your water cups, we got you on this one. This one is a little more feel-y, but with good reason.
PUT. ZE CANDLE. BACK.
This movie is horrifying in a completely different way than it was intended. We may not have grown up with this one, but as one of our dad's all time favorites, it was time to bite the bullet. Listen as we wrestle with the horror, humor, and as Kara continues to incorrectly pronounce words.
A truly terrifying, beautiful, confusing and not at all "classically Disney" Disney film is the focus today. Flames of hell! Wine guzzling Gargoyles! A one shouldered dress! We get into why we love this one, and also ponder if it's actually a movie for kids.
In this week's episode, we see if just Ricky and Kara can carry the episode. Major topics include Kara annoying Ricky, good vs evil, and the charms of Han Solo and Ewan McGregor.
We know we always say
"We're back."
But here we are again. We bring you another movie we were NOT allowed to watch, but that was a giant part of our childhood. Mike Myers, his hair, meats, and murder make up today's episode.
PS for the ladies : don't smell like soup.
Could this be the most all around Christmas film?
We put it to you, that maybe it could be. A true Alcantar kid classic and favorite, this one really has all the feels.
Merry Christmas! Our first Christmas movie this year is Batman Returns. What's that? You didn't know it was a Christmas movie? It is. It has tinsel, lights, trees, boys raised by penguins (?), women with the souls of cats (??), vigilantes dressed as bats (???) and also Christopher Walken.
Was our dad right to NEVER let us watch this? YES. Yes he was.
Well hey there pilgrim! This week we're covering the John Wayne classic (classic??) McClintock. It's probably the only John Wayne movie inspired by a Shakespeare play. It has fist fights, mud fights, one-liners, chess, spankings, and many many people falling down stairs.
BONUS: We discuss why Kara hates monkeys so much and how we'd fare in a post-apocalypse scenario.
Now, don't say it's a fine morning or we'll shoot ya!
Ninety percent of the people in the world are fools and the rest of us are in danger of contamination. This pod is no exception and this musical has EVERYTHING -- matchmaking, extravagant choreography, backstage rivalries and fights, Louis Armstrong's million dollar smile, snubbed director Gene Kelly. BONUS: The sibs decide which creature they'd least like to see Godzilla-sized. Do us a favor and share this pod with a friend because podcasts, like manure, they're not worth a thing unless they're spread around encouraging young things to grow.
CHAARRRRGGGEEEE! This movie has everything: a newlywed couple starting a new life, a man who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt, nice old ladies luring men to their doom, a homicidal brother who looks like Boris Karloff, and surprise revelations of parentage. Oh, and did we mention this movie is hilarious? It is. You know all the dark dramedy shows and movies that have been the rage for the last decade? They all trace back to this. This one did it first, and better. BONUS: The sibs discuss things taken away from them by their parents that scarred them forever.
