How We Plan the Perfect Festival RV Road Trip 👉 Harvest Hosts

In this episode, I share my firsthand experience traveling as a full-time RV festival roadie, including a deep dive into how the AMAZING Harvest Hosts app has already transformed my travels. This episode was shot on the way down to the Sunshine Hootenanny Music and Arts Festival in Brooksville, Florida — and we'll cover more on that next week. But this week, I break down the unique perks of Harvest Hosts for festival goers on the road—think free overnight stays at charming farms, vineyards, and breweries—and talk about how these hosts, like Blake from TnMtn Farm, offer both hospitality and fresh local products for RV travelers. I sit down with Blake to hear the fascinating history behind his family’s farm and his pivot from commercial farming to hosting RV travelers through Harvest Hosts. We talk festival memories—from acoustic jam bands to Dave Matthews Band road trips—and dive into how live music creates community for people who chase their favorite bands around the country. Plus, stick around for a special clip from the Sunshine Hootenanny live stream featuring  @danieldonato  and the rest of the Cosmic Country players, including a sit in from Artist at Large  @WillowOsborne  . Whether you’re an RV adventurer or a festival fanatic, this episode brings together travel, music, community, and a touch of Tennessee country hospitality. 🫠------Download Harvest Hostshttps://bit.ly/harvest-hosts-MFPSUBSCRIBE 📺 @musicfestivalspodcast  SIGNUP UP FOR LIVE STREAM ANNOUNCEMENTS 🎟️https://musicfestivalspodcast.com/TOP PLAYLISTS 📺https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9vKuhye8V3-yWS7sAMyHaV3pRzO4vrhchttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9vKuhye8V391v4kJ4IDnkP5iN_V1IyvEhttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9vKuhye8V39d0mTjS0sKUbfczHl_I5qaKEY MOMENTS ⏯️00:00 Episode Intro3:11 Manage Better Festivals with Eventeny (http://bit.ly/eventeny-MFP)03:46 Affordable Stays at Farms/Breweries07:10 Widow Secures 1931 USDA Loan10:44 Dave Matthews Band Superfan Gifts13:34 Choosing Quality Friendships18:43 Drink DLaw Coffee20:05 "Festival Updates & 2026 Plans"23:07 Rolling in Sweet Baby’s Arms (DDCC & Willow Osborn)27:29 Universal Inclusion------------------------Production Credits 🙏Music Festivals Podcast is a Production of NRMedia Group, LLC https://www.nrmedia.bizIntro Music Bed 🙏Holly Bowling - Dark Star Jubilee 2024https://bit.ly/holly-bowling-set-DSJ24https://www.hollybowling.com/ @HollyBowling  -------------------------------#harvesthosts #tenessee #tnmtnfarm #musicfestivals #musicfestival2025 #musicfestivalspodcast #florida #floridamusicscene #floridamusic #livemusic #musicfestival2025 festivals

In this episode, I’m back after a couple weeks away with a big life update and an inside look at Whippersnap 2026!

I’m recording all the way from my new home base at Berkshire Lake Campground in Ohio and sharing some personal changes, while also announcing exciting plans for more live streams and festival content coming your way. Then, I welcome Shane LaVigne and Dylan Conway, the masterminds behind Whippersnap, to preview what’s in store for the upcoming season at Florida Sand Music Ranch. We dive into how they bring this nonprofit venue to life with top-tier lighting, diverse activities for families, creative art installations, and a music lineup that’s truly next level.

Shane and Dylan talk through the unique vibe of Whippersnap, the challenges and fun of moving the festival from Illinois to Florida, and how they’re creating a festival experience that’s as much about the culture and community as it is the music. We discuss the incredible production value, their approach to camping options (including VIP RV setups), accessibility for families, and the importance of making everyone feel at home. If you want to get the inside scoop on one of Florida’s best music and arts festivals, plus a little peek behind the scenes at how it all comes together, you won’t want to miss this episode!

Pickin' on Picknic 2025 🪕10th Anniversary Festival Recap

In this episode of the Music Festivals Podcast, I recap my trip to Missouri for the 10th anniversary of the Pickin' on Picnic Music Festival at Lost Hill Lake.

It was my very first visit to Missouri, and this festival was packed with highlights, from a magical hickory grove venue to some of the best bluegrass and jam grass music around. I share my experiences at this incredibly well-organized event, covering everything from family-friendly activities, the unique outdoor amenities, and the big role that community and mental health initiatives play at this festival. Plus, I talk about the expansive wellness and green initiatives, standout food vendors, and the festival’s one-of-a-kind custom merch options.

The real treat of the weekend was getting to sit down for an afternoon coffee and Q&A with the legendary Del McCoury and his sons, Rob and Ronnie, where they shared stories about their music, working with Richard Thompson, and even their favorite festival moments. Del’s performance in the heat was inspiring, and seeing him command the stage at 86, in a full suit, was unforgettable. Make sure to watch for clips from their set, behind-the-scenes moments, campfire jams, and a quick word from our partner, D Law Coffee Company, headed by Drury Anderson of Mountain Grass Unit. Michael Cleveland & Jason Carter — A Long Friendship, Twin Fiddles & The Watermelon Pickers Festival

In this episode of the Music Festivals Podcast, I sit down with two true bluegrass legends—Jason Carter and Michael Cleveland—to talk about their brand new collaboration and the stories that have defined their unique journeys. From the start, the festival’s small-town charm and sense of community were clear—local history, welcoming people, and a laid-back, family-friendly vibe really set the tone.

It was a privilege to see Billy Strings return to his roots, sharing heartfelt stories about his first experiences at the festival as a child and performing a special homecoming show—something longtime attendees and newcomers alike could appreciate. The festival offered a genuine bluegrass experience with jam sessions around the campgrounds, art installations, and lots of family traditions.

This year’s event took an emotional turn after the sudden passing of Billy’s mother, but it became a powerful reminder of the community’s support and spirit.

I break down the performances, the unique atmosphere, and why this gathering remains so important in Michigan’s musical landscape, making clear that for all its music and talent, it’s ultimately the people who keep the festival alive year after year.

Hookahville 60 Music Festival Recap — Get Inside Ohio’s Longest Running Jam Band Festival

In this episode of the Music Festivals Podcast, I recap Hookahville 60, an Ohio music festival that has run twice annually (Spring and Fall) for 30 years.

Get an inside look at this Ohio-grown iconic jam band festival, with this in-depth recap. I review standout performances including memorable sets from Ed McGee and other special guests, and share my thoughts on the Roost on the River venue, touching on everything from logistics and camping to amenities. You’ll hear behind-the-scenes stories, plenty of shoutouts to the Hookahville community, and highlights of unique festival traditions like creative theme nights and crowd activities.

The band Ekoostik Hookah, born in a smoky Columbus basement back in ’91, has become a cornerstone of the Midwest jam scene. Known for weaving together psychedelic rock, blues, funk, jazz, and bluegrass, their signature “hookah” sound is built on improvisation and that electric energy only a live crowd can bring. For over 30 years, they’ve toured relentlessly, hosted the legendary Hookahville festival since '94, and kept fans dancing coast to coast. Founding members like Dave Katz, Steve Sweney, and Eric Lanese have steered the ship while welcoming a rotating crew of talented musicians.
