2019-01-06 - Love Is Not Easily Angered Love is a harbor for peace, disallowing the residence of frustration andirritation that enables a quick display of anger.A quick outburst of anger is evidence of a longer residing annoyance.Love cannot hold onto frustrations long enough for them to bedisplayed in anger.With a display of anger is severing of the relationship where love is in needof demonstration.With love is short-lived anger.Anger is the outward evidence of an intense self-focus that cannot see theneeds of others or any way of loving them.It will wreak havoc if not eradicated immediately. It can be with the helpof the Holy Spirit. Application:Prayer Create in me a heart that is free from any place for frustration,irritation or pride to reside. Keep me from the outbursts of anger thatwould threaten relationships and disable the demonstration of love in mylife. When I do respond in anger, lead me quickly to its resolution so thatlove can dominate and be seen once again.Intentional action: On purpose become sensitive to growing frustrations,and instead of defending and owning them, see them as the powder kegfor anger that they are. 2018-12-09 - Love Is Not Self-Seeking Love takes responsibility for getting in position to meet the needs ofothers.The motive for developing and improving your self is not for thepurpose of promoting self but serving others.It is not possible to serve in love when the motive is self.It is not possible to serve in love when self has not been cared for.Where self has been cared for in Christ, it is enabled to be completely freefrom self-seeking to pursue whole-heartedly loves mission.Self is only sought after when it has not already been cared for. Application:Prayer - Father, I desire to become free from self-seeking. Help me toknow your love so much that I no longer have a need to seek what hasalready been secured for me in You. Position me in Your love to pursueeverything Youve enabled me to be in Christ so that I will be ready andable to serve others with no concern for myself.Intentional action: In considering an opportunity to serve in any way, takecare of self first rest, spiritually, attitude, resources, practice, study, etc. so that at the time of service it will not be about you, but sincerely aboutbringing everything God has prepared in you to serve the needs of others.Allow a time of prayer to grow in you a spirit of excellence with a motivethat is far removed from self. Show me how to act in a way that wouldonly be honorable, valuing and loving them above self.Intentional action: Consider someone that is from a different culture or wayof life and find out more how they might expect to be treated.While praying in the Spirit, ask for help in becoming more and moresensitive to how actions are received by others. 2018-11-25 - 5 - Love Is Not Proud In pride there is a perception of someone else - their status, physicalappearance, intellect, possessions, gender, race, etc. that places them ina position of lesser worth or honor than us.In love there can be no pride in the same eyes that are used to see asthe Father sees those He desires to love through us.Love disables pride to the point that those who were once unworthy of asecond look now receive our very best and even our lives laid down inlove.Love transforms Im better than to Im here for them.Love places us on the side of God with regard to lifting up and valuingespecially the lowly ones. Application:Prayer Where my eyes would fail to see others and value them as Youdo, I pray that You would help me to see each one as worthy of Jesus andmy own sacrificed life.
