Matthew 7:5 Peacemaking begins in me. In a conflict, if I dont understand my own actions, Im not in a place to question the actions of others. Invite God to search my heart and mind. Test my actions, emotions, and beliefs against Gods true word. God tests our minds and hearts, often with gentle yet profound probing questions like these: Actions Genesis 3:913 Where are you? Genesis 4:9 Where is your brother? 1 Kings 19:9,13 What are you doing here? Genesis 3:913 What have you done? Emotions John 6:61 Do you take offense at this? Jonah 4:4,9 Do you do well to be angry? Beliefs Acts 9:4 Why are you persecuting me? Mark 9:33 What were you discussing? Genesis 3:913 Who told you that? Review these questions as you spend time with the Lord this week. Ask him to show you what needs attention in your actions, emotions, and beliefs. In Romans 7 Paul said, I dont understand my own actions. We can be triggered by the world, the flesh, and the devil. Then our actions come out of emotions that arise from true or false beliefs. Taking time to examine these helps us identify and surrender our own sin to God. You can make peace with God today by repenting of your sins. Part 1 - Today's sermon is part 1 in the new series "Equipped for Conflict", discussing how we can have peace with God. Peace is made. My conflict with God is called sin. Jesus entered our conflict. Jesus made peace by the blood of His cross. You can make peace with God by repenting of your sin today. Peace on Earth was a declaration announcing the birth of the Prince of Peace who came to make peace by the blood of His cross. Luke 2:14 We live in conflict with God, self, and others. My conflict with God is called sin. That conflict must be reconciled first, before reconciling the other conflicts. This conflict is older and larger than we realize: Genesis 3, 4, 6 The loving forgiving God of Peace will not clear the guilty. Exodus 34 We live in a society that excuses the guilty. That is peace-faking. Peace is made. Jesus entered our conflict to bring peace. Right? Matthew 10:34 Luke 2:34-35 Luke 3:17 In Isaiah 9 The Prince of Peace, the baby Jesus we celebrate at Christmas, was prophesied in the context of ending conflict. Jesus made peace by the blood of His cross. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. Colossians 1:19-20 The God of Peace will soon crush Satan under your feet, making eternal peace. Romans 16:20, Revelation 12:9-11 The ultimate conflict is the sinless Son of God dying for my sin.
