Whoever said a movie had to be the exact copy of the book has never seen this movie. Where parts agree wholeheartedly with the ethos of the novel, independent changes creates a new story where our protagonist figure seems to be more defined by the influences of men rather than venturing into a world that remains ever-changed from her perspective. Both rebellious and staunch in its comment to the realities of girlhood and womanhood, I am reminded that every woman has their own life to live.
