It's About The Difference Between Book and Movie: 1994's "Little Women"

Whoever said a movie had to be the exact copy of the book has never seen this movie. Where parts agree wholeheartedly with the ethos of the novel, independent changes creates a new story where our protagonist figure seems to be more defined by the influences of men rather than venturing into a world that remains ever-changed from her perspective. Both rebellious and staunch in its comment to the realities of girlhood and womanhood, I am reminded that every woman has their own life to live. I hope you watch and enjoy my commentary on the topic. BYYEEE!!!!

It's About Womanhood for Girls: Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women"

While I may not be happy that young girls are referred to as "little women", there is something unavoidable about it all. That girls live as future women, and the learning comes daily in life, blurring the line between the present time and a future obligation. Sobering and delightfully written, enjoy this week's episode of The Novel Ideas Podcast. You won't regret it! BYYEEE!!!!

It's About Me Adopting Kevin McAllister: "Home Alone"

I never thought I'd be willing to abduct a kid to save them from their horrible family, yet hear I stand after watching "Home Alone" again. Neglectful parents egging on an eight-year old, snotty siblings, AND robbers trying to burglarize your home in the guise of a cop? Sounds like the holidays to me if I've ever had it told. Enjoy me truly screaming in the microphone that everybody except Kevin can suck a mean at the end of it all. I hope you enjoy the holiday cheer oozing from this episode of another classic. Happy Holidays! It's officially the start of the winter season, and what better way to start then with the lessons of cutting off your hair and selling your gold watch for your partner's gift? Imagine you're in an age of cybernetics and cloning, and debt collectors are still hounding you about a measly two-million dollars you still? It's About a Life of Choice: Anthony Burgess' "A Clockwork Orange"

In a modern world of ultraviolence, is it any wonder our fictional rumination of the future is contextualized by a world inundated with it? A 15-year old boy remarkably steeped and well-versed in its utility for pleasure, just as the State weaponizes it for their own means, the lines blurring amidst warranted scrutiny in Alex and the government own machinations that further the cycle of pain. Do humans deserve the ability to choose when observing such baseless violence or gluttonous pleasure and its effect on others? Sometimes I wonder whether we should, even though nothing will stop us from having the ability to decide for ourselves. I hope you enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!

It's About Unknowing What You Don't Know: Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Left Hand of Darkness"

In a world where everyone presumes to know everything, reading a book about the implications of ignorance as an opportunity to understand reevaluates the paradigm we operate from, and encourages a new point of view if we are to imagine, or more appropriately surmise a new way of seeing the world to survive in the process. It's About the Spirit of Racism: Rivers Solomon's "An Unkindness of Ghosts"

How do you navigate the cosmos in perpetuity? If you answered with the legacies of Antebellum South and chattel slavery in a futuristic, generation ship held up by a stratified caste-system, I would've thought you'd already read the book. Follow Aster and their relationships as they navigate secrecy, truth-seeking, and the cruelties of a system built against them. Hope your enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!

It's About The Terror of Man: Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein"

Through my sleepy stupor, deep reflections are found underneath the "monstrous" visage of the creation forced to life. Victor Frankenstein is a tragic figure befalling consequences of his own hubris reflected back by a more tragic figure of his own creation. It's a story for all looking for the mirror to humanity's soul. Let's just say we aren't as good as we'd like to imagine. Enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!

It's About A Haunting of the Spirit: Toni Morrison's "Beloved"

The legacy of America enshrouds the crimes and traumas present within the survivors of slavery. Its history soaks the land and raises the dead; no wonder Toni Morrison felt it necessary to utilize the horror genre to elicit the masked tragedies of those still living and dead in Sethe and Denver's experience in their haunted home. It's About Becoming a God: Scott Hawkins' "The Library at Mount Char"

If there was anything I could do, it would to learn to become a god. Turn into jet, cast pizzas down from the sky, delete every spam email without having to individually unsubscribe from each. All-powerful, you know? But if I had a Father lock me up and hide the proverbial key in a metaphorical lock to figuratively keep me tied, I'd imagine I'd rethink the whole idea. Carolyn didn't have much of a choice though, at least at the beginning. But becoming a God must require consistency and a dutiful mind, in spite of resurrecting old, dangerous gods on your way. C'est la vie! Hope you enjoy tonight's episode! BYYEEE!!!!

It's About The Easy Way Out: Agustina Bazterrica's "Tender Is The Flesh"

To say Agustina put her foot in this book would be a poor, but accurate, choice of words for a book about humanity's commitment towards government-sanctioned cannibalism. From abhorrent conditions for "meat" and "flesh" for sale, we follow the steps of a deceptive protagonist who offers subversive, and complicit accounts of the everyday life of Carlos Tejo, a meat runner leading us through this world of disgustingly parallel sentiments on consumption of one's humanity and the complicity for such madness for our safety. Rage with me as we bring in October for a month of horror and disgust. Enjoy! BYYEEE!!!!
