Pre and Perinatal Somatics w/ Kate White

Welcome to today's episode where I am excited to introduce one of my current teachers, Kate White.

Kate White is an award-winning educator, advanced bodyworker and trauma resolution therapist. She is trained in somatic therapies, prenatal and perinatal health, lactation, brain development, infant mental health, and has specialized in parent-baby dyad care using somatic prevention and trauma healing approaches for over 20 years.

She is a registered biodynamic craniosacral therapist and a somatic experiencing practitioner. Her work combines somatic therapy, birth preparation, trauma prevention resolution, and neuro-developmental support to provide families, babies, and small children with the best possible start.

Kate runs a private practice and offers seminars and trainings as the founder and director of the Center for Pre and Perinatal Programs. In 2018, she also founded the online school Prenatal and Perinatal Healing, where she focuses on skills training in prenatal and perinatal somatic therapies for professionals.

In this episode, we discuss somatics, pre and perinatal somatic trauma resolution and how to understand birth and postpartum from the baby's experience. We also dive into our own birth experiences and how they can create a ripple effect into our daily lives, as well as introducing the concept of double binds.

Kate shares that pre and perinatal work is about bringing people into consciousness, pausing, slowing down, and feeling the present. When we are present in our bodies, the things that were once triggering and activating can become integrated and can become a gift or an asset in our adaptation to life. Through pre and perinatal somatic healing, we can access our true nature and become more empowered in our lives, making conscious choices.

I believe pre and perinatal somatic healing is cutting-edge work, but most people are not aware that this work exists. I also believe this work is necessary because birth trauma is an epidemic in the United States. When we can start to address our earliest memories and create a sacred space for mother’s to give birth, this world will change. To me this is the foundation and one way to start to change the broken birthing system in the United Stats. Which is why I am so happy to share my teacher with you.
