Lyndsay Ely was the second author ever to be featured on On The Shelf all the way back in 2021 during our second year of programming. A lot was different back then, for starters I wasn’t the sole voice or producer behind the show, there was a group of us working with our local indie bookstore. But I was the one to bring her to the show. We’d met at that same bookstore years before that when Ely’s debut novel Gunslinger Girl came out in 2018 . Ely was the first author I had ever met in the flesh and ever since I had been waiting for her literary return. The Lost Reliquary is that return.

Last year, I got to interview Alex Segura about the 2024 companion novel to 2022’s Secret Identity, Alter Ego. It was a release day chat, riddled with some technology issues that left it brief and to the point but the fan in me both of comics and their history still had many questions left unanswered about the world of Triumph Comics and Carmen Valdez.
