Does your life feel like a stump right now? When we look at a stump, we usually see an end—judgment, destruction, or a life cut short. But in the Kingdom of God, a stump isn’t a sign of death; it’s a setup for a miracle. As we near the end of our Jesse Tree Advent series, we explore the powerful prophecy of Isaiah 11. Just as the mighty nation of Israel was cut down to a stump, many of us feel “cut down” by poor decisions, grief, or the weight of the world. But deep within the Stump of Jesse was a Root that couldn’t be killed and a Shoot destined to change the world—Jesus. Join us as we discover how Jesus is the Root (our divine source), the Shoot (the humble baby in a manger), and the Branch that bears Fruit in our lives today. If you feel overlooked, undervalued, or left behind this Christmas, this message is for you. It’s time to see your “stump” as a place of redemption, restoration, and renewal. The thing that looks like the end of your story might actually be the place where God is about to bring new life. Choose hope Choose life Choose Jesus Scripture List: Isaiah 11.1-11 John 1.3 Isaiah 7.14 Romans 11 John 15.5

The Jesse Tree: A Better Priest & King
✨ A Priest. A King. A Mystery. ✨ Most Christians know about David the king… Aaron the priest… and Abraham the patriarch. But tucked inside Psalm 110 is one of the Bible’s greatest mysteries—one that unlocks why Jesus had to come, who He really is, and how He brings hope right into the middle of our deepest struggles. This year we're using the idea of the Jesse Tree to walk through Advent. It's an old way of tracing the family line of Jesus through the Old Testament to show how everything in the OT is pointing forward to the arrival of Jesus. Today we’re diving into a wild, prophetic Psalm that reveals a Messiah unlike anything Israel ever expected. A better Priest and a better King, one who conquers evil without and cleanses the evil within. And yes… we’re even talking about Melchizedek. In This Message You’ll Discover: Why Psalm 110 is the most quoted Old Testament passage in the New Testament How a mysterious priest-king named Melchizedek foreshadows the coming Messiah Why no human king, leader, pastor, or politician can fix what’s wrong with us How Jesus is both the perfect King AND the perfect Priest—unlike any ruler or leader in history What it means to surrender your brokenness, shame, and battles to the only One who can truly heal you If You’re Struggling Right Now… This message is for you. Wherever you feel surrounded— a broken relationship, an uncertain future, a draining job, a deep wound, a nagging sin— Jesus wants to rule right there. Not after things get better. Right in the midst of it. ⸻ Watch Until the End If You Need: ✔ Real hope ✔ A renewed vision of who Jesus truly is ✔ A reminder that you are represented in heaven ✔ An invitation to surrender everything to the King who won’t fail you Don’t Forget If this message encouraged you, hit LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and SHARE it with someone who needs hope today. Jesus is our better Priest. Our better King. Our only Savior. And He is worthy of our praise. Merry Advent. Let’s lean into the wonder together. Scripture List: Psalm 110 Genesis 14.17-20 Hebrews 7

The Jesse Tree: The Shepard Boy Who Would Become King
From the Fields to the Throne - David’s story is a powerful reminder that even though he became Israel’s greatest king, he was never meant to be the ultimate King. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, David defeated the EVIL WITHOUT—standing boldly before Goliath and the Philistines. But years later, on a quiet rooftop in Jerusalem, he was confronted by the EVIL WITHIN—the internal enemies of pride, lust, and self-reliance. As “a man after God’s own heart,” David’s victories and failures reveal three truths we desperately need today: 1. When David relied on the Holy Spirit, he could defeat both the EVIL WITHOUT and the EVIL WITHIN. When he didn’t, he fell hard. 2. Despite deep failure, David always returned to God through confession and repentance - And you can too! 3. God’s promises never fail. His promise to send a King through David’s line was fulfilled in Jesus—the true Shepherd King who conquers sin and evil forever. This message is Part 4 of our Advent series: Jesus in the Old Testament. Follow the series to see how every part of Scripture points to Jesus and the hope we have in Him. The Jesse Tree: The Day of Atonement
Is your sin REALLY that serious? And why does the Old Testament talk so much about animal sacrifices—were they really necessary? In our Jesse Tree Advent series, where we uncover how every story points to Jesus, we’re digging into one of the most important (and strangest) holidays in the Bible: Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement. We'll unpack the raw reality of sin and death, and then reveal the incredible, world-changing good news: Jesus isn't just a covering for sin; He is the perfect, once-for-all sacrifice. Discover how His work on the cross tears the veil, gives you direct access to God, and means you can finally stop striving and rest in His finished work. In this message we discover: Why God’s presence was both good and dangerous Why sacrifices were necessary—and what they taught God’s people The powerful symbolism of the two goats What is a scapegoat? How Jesus became both our Great High Priest and our perfect sacrifice Why the tearing of the temple curtain changes everything for you today Why you can stop striving… and rest in Christ’s finished work If you’ve wrestled with guilt, shame, or feeling distant from God, if you’ve ever worried you’re ‘not enough’this message will breathe fresh hope into your soul. The Jesse Tree: Jesus Revealed Through Abraham and Isaac
Long before Bethlehem. Long before the manger. Long before a cross was ever lifted on a hill, God was already revealing Jesus. In today’s Advent message we dig into one of the most powerful foreshadowings of Christ in the entire Old Testament. From God’s call to Abraham, to the faith test on Mount Moriah, to the breathtaking moment when “the angel of the Lord” (the pre-incarnate Christ!) speaks from heaven—this story prepares our hearts to see Jesus in a whole new way. This sermon walks through: How Abraham's life foreshadows Jesus's coming and sacrifice The remarkable story of Isaac carrying wood up a mountain (2,000 years before Jesus did the same) How Christophanies (pre-incarnate Christ appearances) reveal Jesus in the Old Testament Why this ancient story matters for your faith TODAY How God's promises extend to you if you've placed your faith in Jesus As continue through The Jesse Tree this Advent season, we trace the family line of Jesus back to its roots—and discover that God’s PROMISES, His FAITHFULNESS, and His PROVISION have been pointing to Christ from the very beginning. The Old Testament isn't just ancient history—it's a love letter revealing Jesus. If you need a reminder that God is still at work in your life even when you’ve messed up, this message will encourage your heart. TOGETHER REFRESH: Grace, Generosity, & Gratitude
Grace. Generosity. Gratitude. What happens when you put your money — and your heart — in God’s hands? Today we're looking at a life-changing truth from pastor and author Tim Keller: “There can be no significant spiritual growth in your life unless you put your money and your attitude toward money in God’s hands.” That's super challenging but this sermon will help you see giving not as an obligation but as an overflow of grace and gratitude. Today's scripture, Corinthians 9:8–11, shows how: • God’s grace motivates us to give • Our generosity impacts lives for eternity • Our gratitude turns blessings into worship This message is part of our TOGETHER Refresh Initiative, where our church family is stepping forward in faith to expand our capacity to reach the Roanoke Valley and beyond with the Gospel. This isn't about guilt or obligation—it's about freedom, joy, and understanding that everything we have flows from God's generosity. Whether you're new to faith or have been walking with Christ for decades, this message will challenge you to examine your relationship with money and discover the abundant life God designed for generous givers. TOGETHER REFRESH: The Cheerful Giver
Are you a cheerful giver? Do you ever feel anxious about giving money to the church or a charity? You’re not alone. We’re often tempted to hold onto our finances, thinking, "I need to save more," or "What if I run out?" But what if the secret to true financial freedom and lasting joy isn't in hoarding, but in letting go? In this message from 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, we are challenged to move beyond hesitant, obligatory giving and step into the abundant life of a "cheerful giver." We’ll unpack the profound truth of sowing and reaping — not just with our money, but with our time, energy, and love. We'll see that giving is not about an amount and why a mindset of generosity transforms your heart. God’s grace and abundance make it possible to live open-handedly. TOGETHER REFRESH: The God Factor
What if generosity wasn’t about how much you have — but Who has your heart? Can you believe it's been a year since we started our Together Initiative to fulfill the vision God gave Orchard Hills Church to expand our reach, deepen our faith, and live out radical generosity. We have another year to go to reach our goals so this week we are kicking off a Together Initiative Refresh over the next five week with a focus on 2 Corinthians chapters 8 and 9. Focusing on 2 Corinthians 8:1–5 today, we see how the Macedonian churches who, even in extreme poverty, begged for the chance to give. Why? Because they had experienced the transforming power of God’s grace. We're reminded that true generosity isn’t a formula of wealth and abundance — it’s the supernatural equation only God can create: Overflowing joy + extreme poverty = rich generosity None of us desire extreme poverty. Extreme poverty is not good. But, if you combine extreme poverty with a relationship with God you begin to see God as your provider and your absolute dependence on Him. You become more thankful for the simplest of things that we, who have so much, often take for granted. This TOGETHER INITIATIVE is about more than a building. It’s about how we give ourselves first to God and then to others. It’s about using the time, talent, and treasures that God has entrusted to us for His eternal purposes. It’s about us becoming more like those Macedonian Christians. Scripture List 2 Corinthians 8.1–5 Acts 2.42-47 Mark 12.30-31

The Book of Jude: Jude's Doxology
Is Jesus too good to be true? He promises to to take all our faults and blame, but is there a catch? Watch now to find out what it is and be reminded of the greatness of our God! We’ve reached the end of our series in Jude—and what a journey it’s been! Jude has warned us about false teachers, challenged us to stay faithful, and encouraged us to confront with care. But he closes with one of the most powerful doxologies in Scripture—*a reminder* of God’s power, His glory, and His unmatched ability to preserve us, present us blameless, and give us eternal hope. Jude 24–25 shows us why we can trust God completely, even in a world filled with chaos, conflict, and discouragement. Instead of withdrawing in fear, Jude calls us to lift our eyes and rejoice because of who God is. If you’ve been feeling weighed down by the brokenness of our world — wars, division, violence, and discord — this message will lift your heart and remind you of the greatness of our God. Don’t miss this encouraging reminder that God is worthy of all glory, majesty, power, and authority—yesterday, today, and forevermore! Scripture List: Jude 24-25 1 Timothy 2.5-6a 2 Corinthians 5.10

The Book of Jude: Caring Enough to Confront
Confrontation It's the most UNCOMFORTABLE thing Jesus asks christians to do but it's so important, it's actually the most LOVING thing you can do. If you've ever watched a friend make a destructive choice and stayed silent because you didn't know what to say? You're not alone. Confrontation feels awkward, judgmental, and just plain hard. We're afraid of ruining a friendship or being seen as a "holier-than-thou" Christian. On the other hand, a "come as you are" message without a call to change can become cheap grace. So, where's the balance? How do we speak the truth in a way that is full of grace? In this message from Jude 22-23, we find the biblical balance between grace and truth - learning to "care enough to confront" while also "confronting in a caring way." This isn't about being the church police or enabling sin through cheap grace - it's about loving people enough to have the hard conversations and loving enough to pull each other back from the fire. Are you keeping yourself in God's love? Jude tells us to, but what does that even mean—and how do we do it? Today we continue our series on Jude and discover a shift from defense to offense. Jude challenges us to be active*, *intentional*, and *daily in building our faith. In verses 20-21 he gives a clear game plan for staying in God's love: •Build up our faith* •Pray in the Holy Spirit* •Actively and expectantly wait for Jesus* This isn’t something we do once a week for an hour or two on Sunday. Jude is calling us to a DAILY way of life that transforms everything. Are you ready to take your faith to the next level? The Book of Jude: Remember to Be Careful
⚠️ Are you protecting your faith? In Jude 17–19, we are reminded to remember what Jesus warned us about. That we need to protect our faith from the danger of being led away from God by lies, deception, and false teaching. In this message we dig into this sobering warning in Jude and see how it applies to our daily lives: How To Recognize Spiritual Danger Jude tells us there will be people who make fun of God’s truth, live for their own desires, divide others, and are not led by the Spirit. These voices may come through culture, media, relationships, or even within the church. How can we identify them? How To Remember the Word The only way to recognize a lie is to know the truth. Jude calls us back to the words of the apostles—preserved for us in Scripture. We can’t “remember” what we don’t first know. Practical Steps for Everyday Faith • Establish a rhythm of opening God’s Word in your home. • Commit to Scripture memory—individually or as a family. • Pay attention to what voices are shaping your worldview—friends, coworkers, media, music, or social feeds. Friends, the Christian life is not lived on autopilot. There is a battle for your soul. But God has given us His Word and His Spirit so we can stand firm, recognize deception, and cling to the truth. If you want to strengthen your faith, guard your heart, and lead your family in the way of Jesus, this sermon will encourage and equip you to stay careful, stay grounded, and stay faithful. The Book of Jude: Stop the Grumbling
Are you a grumbler… or an encourager? In Jude 16, we’re warned about people who creep into the church with destructive attitudes—grumblers, fault finders, sin seekers, and smooth talkers. Left unchecked, these habits don’t just poison our own hearts… they spread, divide, and destroy communities. This 2,000 year old warning has never been more relevant than today. In this message we look at a better way: being encouragers, way makers, freedom finders, and Bible teachers. We're reminded that contentment is found in Christ alone, and His Spirit—not our words—has the power to change lives. If you’ve ever struggled with negativity, discontentment, or chasing fulfillment in the wrong places, this message is for you. Let’s stop the grumbling and start encouraging. Which of the four traits do you find most challenging? Share your thoughts in the comments below! Scripture List: Jude 14–16 Philippians 4.10–13 1 Corinthians 1.31 1 Corinthians 2.1–5 Isaiah 55.11

The Book of Jude: God Will Judge
"Only God can judge me." We've all heard it, maybe even said it. It's used as a shield to deflect criticism. But what if that phrase isn't the comfort we think it is? What if the reality of God's judgment is the most sobering and terrifying truth in the universe? In this message, we continue our study through the book of Jude with a sobering reminder: God will judge! From the ancient prophecy of Enoch to the words of Jesus and Paul, the Bible makes it clear that a day is coming when God will set everything right. But here’s the good news: because of Jesus, judgment doesn’t have to be the end of your story—it can be the beginning of eternal life. The Bible is clear: a day of reckoning is coming for everyone. But it's also clear there is one, and only one, way to find refuge. This is not a message of condemnation, but a desperate and loving plea to run to the only One who can save you from the judgment you deserve. The Book of Jude: Don't Be One of These People
What if the greatest danger to your faith isn't outside the church… but sitting right next to you? In Jude 12--13, God gives six vivid warnings about people who secretly slip into the church, look spiritual on the outside, but leave destruction in their wake. They're like hidden reefs, selfish shepherds, waterless clouds, fruitless trees, wild waves, and wandering stars -- and if we're not careful, we can become just like them. In this message from our study in Jude, you'll discover: How to recognize false teachers and dangerous influences in your life The spiritual "red flags" every believer should watch for How to anchor your life so you don't drift into deception Practical steps to live, love, and lead like Jesus every day This is more than a warning -- it's an encouragement to examine your own heart, guard your faith, and stay rooted in the truth of God's Word. The Book of Jude: The Rebellion of Korah
Is your ambition leading you closer to God... or toward disaster? The Bible tells a shocking story of a man named Korah whose ambition led to him and his followers being literally swallowed by the earth. It's a terrifying and sober warning about a sin we are all susceptible to: rebellion born from pride. We dive deep into the story of Korah's Rebellion from Numbers 16, one of the most dramatic divine judgments in the Old Testament. Jude uses this historical event as a critical warning for the church today, and it's a message we can't afford to ignore. If we're not careful, the same spirit of discontentment, comparison, and selfish ambition that destroyed Korah can slip into our hearts, our homes, and our churches. In this message, you will learn: - The 3 fatal mistakes Korah made that we still make today. - The dangerous link between comparison, discontentment, and pride. - What the Bible really says about submitting to authority If this message blessed you, please LIKE the video, SUBSCRIBE to the channel, and hit the BELL icon so you never miss a study.
