Watch this video to discover the BEST & WORST times to visit Orlando - https://youtu.be/ze5G2rqAFzQ
I’m recording this on 12th August 2024. And today, there’s only one thing to talk about. And that’s the tons of news at D 23.
On Saturday, August 10, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, hit the stage at D 23 for the Disney Experiences Showcase. they spent nearly three hours sharing some super exciting news about what folks can look forward to at Disney parks and resorts, plus some cool updates for Disney Cruise Line in the near and distant future!
Let’s start at the most visited theme park in the world - Magic Kingdom. What if it doesn’t end with a fairy tale? Get ready! Disney just dropped the news about a new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom Park. This place is gonna be all dark and twisty, featuring two big rides, plus spots to eat and shop. My guess is that this will be around the back of Frontierland and Fantasyland. They haven’t given us a specific timeline yet, but they’re definitely working on it!
There’s a brand-new spot coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, all based on the "Cars" movies! They’re adding not just one, but two awesome rides. One's gonna be a super exciting race through the mountains, and the other is more family-friendly. They’re kicking off the construction in early 2025, but we don’t know when it’ll actually open yet.
Now something we do have a date for. And it’s pretty soon too. Get ready for a fresh nighttime parade called "Disney Starlight" that's hitting Magic Kingdom Park in summer 2025! With some cool tech and a sprinkle of magic from the Blue Fairy, you'll see characters from "Peter Pan," "Frozen," "Encanto," and a bunch of other favorites!
We just got another peek at the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge that's set to open in Magic Kingdom in 2025! It's gonna be in Adventureland and will continue the story from that classic ride.
But that’s not all—there's also a lounge themed after Spaceship Earth on the way to EPCOT next year!
And sticking with Epcot and again, scheduled for next year, the reimagined version of Test Track. The Imagineers and folks from Chevrolet have taken a trip down memory lane to the original World of Motion, trying to capture that whole vibe of positivity for this classic ride. This will be the 3rd version of Test track and I’m looking forward to seeing all the new changes
Over in Hollywood Studios, the big news is monstrous. humans can finally check out the Monsters, Inc. world at this new spot coming to Hollywood Studios. If you’ve always wanted to cruise through the door vault, you’re in for a treat! Disney Park's first-ever suspended coaster is gonna have you flying through the monster factory, just like in the film. They’ll kick off the work on this project in 2025.
Let’s head on over to Animal Kingdom. There's a fresh new show called "Zootopia: Better Zoogether!" launching in winter 2025 at Disney's Animal Kingdom, right at the Tree of Life Theater! You'll get to check out different biomes from the movie alongside Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and a bunch of other characters from Zootopia.
But the big news there we’ll be saying See ya later, Dinoland, U.S.A.! And Hey there, Tropical Americas! Once you stroll across the bridge from Discovery Island, you’ll hit Pueblo Esperanza, where two awesome attractions are going to beThey’re kicking off construction later this year, and it’s set to open in 2027. This cool new area will also have a huge fountain right in the middle of the village, one of the biggest quick-service spots at Disney World, and a carousel with all your favorite Disney critters!
There'll be the first-ever ride inspired by "Encanto," and it kicks off right after Antonio gets his special gift and his room transforms into a wild rainforest. Tag along with Antonio as he checks out his new digs, and you might run into some of his family members along the way.
Get hyped for a fresh Indiana Jones adventure! Indy’s caught wind of a legendary creature hiding out in an old Mayan temple, so naturally, he’s ready to dive in and explore. This ride’s gonna have a totally original storyline. Oh, and just a heads-up: snakes might be involved, but that’s not a guarantee!
Let’s hop on over to California now. Avengers Campus is about to get a whole lot bigger with two awesome new attractions coming your way. Construction kicks off next year! In Avengers Infinity Defense, you’re in for a wild ride through different worlds like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City. King Thanos has snagged the tech that lets the Avengers hop between these places, and you’ll be teaming up with them to take him down.
And that’s not all—there’s also the Stark Flight Lab, featuring the one and only Tony Stark (yep, Robert Downey Jr. is back!). You’ll hop into these two-person pods and head to a test station where a robotic arm will lift you up for a simulated flight. No two flights will be the same, so get ready for some epic adventures!
Get ready for the first-ever "Coco"-inspired experience heading to Disney California Adventure! Kicking off in 2026, it'll whisk you away on a vibrant journey to the Land of the Dead.
They're also working on the first-ever Audio-Animatronic version of Walt Disney for a new show called "Walt Disney — A Magical Life" at the Main Street Opera House. Set to premiere in 2025
Get ready for a brand new Avatar experience that’ll take you to a cool water spot in Pandora, inspired by the second movie, "Avatar: The Way of Water," and even the upcoming films. This awesome ride is going to be at Disney California Adventure.
Also, mark your calendars for 15th november 2024, because Tiana's Bayou Adventure is launching in a totally revamped Bayou Country. This area will also feature The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, and the newly updated Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.
Let’s set sail now with the news coming out of Disney Cruise Line that they’re rolling out FOUR new ships between 2027 and 2031! With five ships already sailing and four more on the way, that’ll bring the fleet up to a total of 13! They’re still figuring out the names, designs, and where these ships are gonna go.
The Disney Destiny is gonna have a cool new stage show all about "Hercules." Plus, we got a sneak peek at the upcoming "Disney The Tale of Moana" show on the Disney Treasure, which is set to launch later this year.
Back on land and let’s head to Asia where Shanghai and Hong Kong will both be getting Spiderman themed rides.
And finally at Disneyland Paris. For the first time in forever, defrosting in 2026 is the World of Frozen. you’ll be able to meet Elsa and Set sail with Frozen ever after which is an updated version of the ride in Epcot.
Adventure Bay will feature a Tangled tea cups style ride and Regal View Restaurant and Lounge along with another quick service and snack spots. Adventure Bay will also feature a state of the art nightime show. Featuring one of a kind water drones, this new show will feature some of your Disney favourites. It looks amazing.
Disneyland park is getting a brand new and exclusive nighttime spectacular in January 2025! The show is gonna have immersive projections on Main Street for the first time, which is something that’s been a big hit at US Resorts for ages. And, of course, there’ll be drones too!
They’ll be using all sorts of cool media and special effects to bring those classic stories and nostalgic vibes to life. Can’t wait to get more info and check out this new show in just a few months!
We finally got the scoop on the new land coming to Disney Adventure World, and guess what? All those rumors were spot on! We're headed to the Pride Lands in an awesome new Lion King-themed area! The land doesn’t have a name just yet, but it’s going to have a major attraction: a super cool boat ride that will take us through the story of the classic 1994 animated film. Expect animatronics, huge sets, Pride Rock, and more! There will also be chances to meet characters, plus spots for eating and shopping. No word on when it’s opening yet, but construction kicks off in 2025!
I’m recording this on Monday 29th July 2024. Today, Disney's newest cruise ship, Deadpool in the parks and some Lightning Lane tips. Plus, a special announcement just for podcast listeners.
Get ready to set sail with the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet - the Disney Destiny! Joining the Disney cruise ship fleet, the Destiny will be the third of its kind in the Wish-class lineup. Don't forget, the Disney Wish made its debut in 2022 and the Disney Treasure is set to embark on its maiden voyage this December. With the same basic structure as its sister ships, the Destiny is sure to bring even more magic to the high seas.
They will be unveiling details about the ship's restaurants, lounges, spas, and more over three days. The Destiny will have a thrilling "Heroes and Villains" theme, and you can learn all about it during the event on July 30, 31, and August 1 at 10:00 a.m. Orlando time each day.
The Destiny will embark on her inaugural journey in December 2025, just one year after the Treasure set sail. Mark your calendars for August 9, 2024, when booking opens with priority given to Castaway Club members. Get in touch today to find out more about sailing on Disney's latest ship. Visit Orlando Insider dot co dot uk or use the links in the show notes. Don't miss your chance to be one of the first to experience this incredible voyage!
Dead pool is taking over Disneyland Paris and Disney's California Adventure. Throughout the day, you can see him wandering around Avengers Campus.
He's also joining the guardians of the galaxy for a dance off. It's a great addition to an already fun show. And yes I got up and danced.
Plus in California, you can join Deadpool as he reads from his big book of super special stories. These family-friendly tales delight, charm and inspire in the way only Deadpool can. And keep an eye out for Wolverine who may be dropping by “Story Time with Deadpool.” (Really, these stories are suitable for all ages.)
At night, if you're really lucky, you can do something very cool. Hidden at Disney's hotel new York the art of marvel in Paris, is a Deadpool speak easy. But you can't just wander in. Find mysterious QR code and made a date with Deadpool. Then follow the secret instructions to discover the location and how to get into this exclusive club. Once you're let inside, The speak easy is decked out with props from the latest film.
There are 3 alcoholic cocktails and 2 mocktails to pick from. All created by the talented team at the hotel and inspired by Deadpool himself. We tried 3 of the drinks including the Canadian candy concoction and from the mouth of the Merc. This was our favourite. Like Deadpool it's a mix of sweet and spice with TEQUILA, GINGER, , BLOOD ORANGE, PEQUIN PEPPER AND HIBISCUS.
Yes, the drinks are pretty pricey, but we all felt that the experience was worth it. These aren't cocktails you're going to get anywhere else. Plus the fun of getting into the speak easy was brilliant.
We get a lot of questions each week from our listeners and we wanted to help you have the best trip to Orlando. That's why we created the free Orlando Insider Academy. And as a listener, you can join the wait list now. It'll guarantee you a place when we open the doors.
The Orlando Insider academy will be packed full of videos, tips, tricks and guides to help you plan and book your perfect trip to Disney World and Universal Orlando. It's completely free and could be the difference between a good and an amazing holiday. Use the link in the show notes to join now.
The new lightning lanes came out on the 24th. If you're familiar with Genie +, it's an updated system. Once it's your turn to buy, jump onto the app and tap purchase. This will then let you choose the date of your visit. Next you'll be asked with park or parks you want to buy for. For example, you could do Multi pass for Magic Kingdom, but do Guardians in Epcot as an individual lightning lane.
Let's chat about how the multi pass works. For example, if I picked Hollywood studios, once picking the park, it'll ask me to pick 1 ride from tier 1 and 2 from tier 2. Tier 1 rides are Slinky Dog Dash, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Millennium Falcon and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. All of the other rides and shows are in tier 2.
So, you might pick Runaway Railway as your tier 1 pick, then the Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania from tier 2. Tap to confirm and it'll bring up some pre-picked times. If there's availability, you can pick a different time. If you're happy with everything, you just go through and pay for everything. It's good that you can see what 3 rides you'll be getting before you buy anything. We'll be doing a podcast soon with our strategy and top picks so make sure you're subscribed to this podcast.
Tons of you have already been in touch asking questions so here are a few to help you.
Can I refresh and rebook ride reservations like it was with FastPass?
Absolutely! Making changes and rebooking ride reservations with Lightning Lane Multi-Pass is just as effortless as it was with FastPass+ or Genie+. Thanks to the modify button, you can easily play the ‘refresh game’ to secure better or more convenient return times, and even explore availability at other attractions without forfeiting your current Lightning Lane ride reservation.
Have you noticed any increase in the number of available options throughout the day?
It looks like it to us! It's no shock at all that both FastPass+ and Genie+ had consistent patterns when it came to ride reservation refills or drops. You can find the detailed rules for Ride Reservation Refills at Walt Disney World.
It's too early to predict how often ride reservation refills will occur with Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, but I've already noticed refills for various attractions under LLMP. These were definitely refills, not cancellations, as numerous times became available - a clear indication of a refill.
With the modify button, searching for ride reservation refills is a breeze. By combining these two strategies, you can secure extra Lightning Lane selections throughout the day. Just a heads up: it can get quite addictive, like a video game. Like any game, be careful not to lose track of real-world time as you get caught up in the screen.
Can I park hop?
Unlock the possibilities of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass without any extra fees for Park Hopping! remember to use your first Lightning Lane before switching parks. This is necessary because pricing varies at each park.
So, if you use your Lightning Lane early on (like for Everest at 8:15 am), you can then start booking Magic Kingdom Lightning Lanes.
I’m recording this on Monday 22nd July 2024. Today, we’ll be talking about singing bears, Lightning Lanes and answering one of your listener questions.
In Magic Kingdom, an old classic had a makeover. The Country Bear Musical Jamboree has been updated. I’ll be honest with you. I think I’ve only ever been there once. And that was for the same reason I went into the Hall of Presidents. It was raining hard and I was close. I think it’s something that older Americans will do, but us Brits just don’t really get it.
For those that haven’t done it, it’s a show featuring animatronic bears who perform in a band. You might recognise Big Al. He’s sometimes wandering around the park and weirdly, is sometimes in Disneyland Paris.
So to try and appeal to more people, it’s now a Celebration of the Disney song catalogue. But, mainly focusing on the more newer hits. There are only 2 songs that came out before I was born.
There's no songs from the 30s, 40s and 50s. 2 in the 60s, none in the 70s, 1 in the 80s 2 in the 90s and the rest from 2000 onwards.
The tunes are performed by the bears in a country style and include:: Try Everything” from “Zootopia. Kiss the Girl” from “The Little Mermaid. A Whole New World” from “Aladdin. Fixer Upper” from “Frozen, And of course, The Bare Necessities” from “The Jungle Book.
Some of those songs seem like a good choice for a band of singing bears. Kiss the girl, I’m not so sure about. I’ll be in Orlando soon so I’ll be checking it out. Even if it doesn’t rain.
The good ol' Country Bear Jamboree at Walt Disney World lasted over 50 years! With this new version, younger Disney fans can keep groovin' with the bear band show for many more years.
The new Lightning Lane packages start tomorrow on 24th July. These replace Genie +. Once we’ve seen how these work, we’ll be putting together new guides on the best rides and strategies so make sure you hit the subscribe button so you don’t miss out.
Just to recap, there are 2 versions now. Lightning Lane multi pass and Lightning Lane individual. If you’re staying onsite or at a selected hotel such as the Drury Plaza, you can buy up to 7 days in advance and 3 for off site guests.
The new Lightning Lane Multi Pass system is bringing back the FastPass+ system where you can book Lightning Lane Passes before your visit. You'll still need to pay for this service, but now you can schedule up to three rides per day in advance instead of just one. This means you can plan out your day in the park instead of running around trying to snag whatever Genie+ offers.
Big shout out to Jess and Landon at Vacation grocery deliveries. I recently had a good chat with them for one of our podcasts. And if you’re heading to Orlando soon, check out these guys. They’ll deliver everything you need from snacks, sun cream and even sandwich platters directly to your Disney or Universal hotel. Even if you just need some water, they can deliver that too. Check out the podcast and find out all about them.
Thanks to everyone who’s got in touch to ask us a question. As a Disney travel professional, I get asked a lot of interesting questions and here’s one from Linda from Manchester. She wants to know if February is a good time to visit Orlando.
So it depends on when in Feb. Let’s start with when not to go.
From the 14th to 24th, I’d say it’s not a great time to go. Get ready for a wild weekend with Mardi Gras, President’s Day, and UK school holidays all colliding. Brace yourself for huge crowds, it’s gonna be nearly as busy as last New Year’s Eve. The chaos kicks off on the Thursday before President’s Day. Hotels and buses at Disney World are going be packed, so be prepared for a squeeze.
Other than that, Feb is a nice time to visit Orlando. Between the insanity of President’s Day and the chaos of Spring Break, around the 9th March, there’s a perfect little breather. The Orlando weather is just right, with hardly any rainy days in sight. Spend quality time in the parks without worrying about crowds. It’s the ideal time for couples, it’s one of the best times to visit Orlando.
Universal Epic Universe, opening in 2025 at Universal Orlando Resort, will open new portals to fantastical worlds – one being The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic! Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Universal Epic Universe is the much-anticipated new theme park coming to Universal Orlando Resort, where fans can traverse five different immersive worlds, including Celestial Park, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™, and Dark Universe.
From the dazzling elegance of 1920s Paris to the classic British charm of the 1990s British Ministry of Magic, enthusiasts will be able to explore iconic settings from the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter films, teeming with authenticity. Fresh shops, fresh restaurants, fresh entertainment, and a fresh thrill ride - all with a continental flair? Absolutely.
Let’s start in 19 20s Paris
Fans will be instantly whisked away to a different time and place as they step into Place Cachée: a magical enclave of Paris. Inspired by the opulent settings from Fantastic Beast, this is the French capital with a wizarding twist. Visitors can stroll down cobblestone streets lined with shops, cafes, and enchanting details. Every tiny element has been meticulously crafted: you can even overhear conversations between French witches and wizards as you wander through the streets!
As showcased in Fantastic Beasts, prepare for an extraordinary recreation of the enigmatic wizarding circus, Le Cirque Arcanus. Fans will have the chance to explore the theater, encountering live performers, puppets, and special effects, just like a real circus. However, this one has a unique twist.
Here, you’ll encounter magical creatures and meet characters such as the Ringmaster and a brand-new character exclusive to the park. And who knows, perhaps a certain person might make an appearance as well. You’re in for quite a show.
After all that excitement, you’ll likely need a moment to recharge. Extend your Parisian adventure with a visit to Café L’air De La Sirène, a stunning eatery decorated with art nouveau mosaics and carved marble accents. Herbology enthusiasts will appreciate the display of magical flora and fauna from the wizarding world. And since this is Paris, don’t forget to treat yourself to a delectable pastry.
For a hearty dinner, head to Le Gobelet Noir, nestled deep within the wells of Place Cachée. This enigmatic tavern is known to attract Dark witches and wizards. Inspired by medieval architecture, the pub features ancient beams and timeworn relics, with carvings left by past patrons.
Or perhaps you’re in the mood for a magical libation. If so, Bar Moonshine is an American-styled bar designed to be a home-away-from-home for visiting US witches and wizards. Yes, they have an Ex-Pat bar. And before you ask – of course you’ll be able to enjoy a friendly flagon of Butterbeer during your visit! That is simply the wizarding way.
After your adventures in 1920s France, it’s time to head towards the Paris Métro-Floo station, where you’ll arrive in 1990s London. During this stopover, you’ll experience the sensation of traveling via the Floo Network—the magical transport method of witches and wizards through fireplaces. You’ll be engulfed in the Métro-Floo before arriving at your next destination: a familiar grand atrium known as the heart of British wizarding government, the Ministry of Magic.
And now for the ride! Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. This groundbreaking new attraction is set in the period just after the Battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Here's the story: order has been restored at the Ministry of Magic after its corruption by Lord Voldemort’s followers, and now it's time for those responsible to be held accountable. And here’s something you'll love: the despicable Dolores Umbridge is finally being put on trial!
Yes, you’ll get to witness the cruel, pink-loving former Headmistress of Hogwarts stand trial for her crimes during Lord Voldemort’s rise to power. Board a lift to the courtroom where you’ll see many familiar characters at the hearing (as if Harry, Ron, and Hermione would ever miss this!)
Imagine this: the delicate balance is constantly shifting, with Umbridge managing to escape the Ministry with the help of Death Eater survivors. Their sinister plan involves Time-Turners to bring back Voldemort’s reign of terror.
But fear not, for you have a crucial role to play. Join forces with the golden trio and Higgledy to capture Umbridge and set things right. It promises to be an exciting journey ahead.
As much as we hate to say goodbye, there’s one more stop on your wizarding adventure. Tour En Floo awaits you, where you can collect some magical keepsakes.
So from Paris to London, get ready for a magical blend of the familiar and the new. There are countless enchanting details waiting to be discovered.
I'm so excited for this to be opening at Epic Universe. If you haven't already done so, get in touch using the links in the show notes to start planning your trip Epic Universe. Your Orlando Insider gurus are waiting to help you have a totally magical experience.
I’m recording this on 8th July 2024. Today, I’ll be letting you know about the lineup for the Eat to the beat concerts at Epcot along with an important update for UK guests about the changes to Genie+.
Let’s start with something musical. Every year, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival brings food from around the world to the parks. Just like all the other EPCOT Festivals, Food & Wine has live shows every day on the America Gardens Theater stage. The concert series for the Food & Wine Festival is called Eat to the Beat and they have famous artists performing on the weekends and local acts during the week. Shows are at 5 30, 6 45 and 8pm daily.
This year, there's a mix of bands I like, some I've heard of and completely unknown. It all kicks off on 29th August with Finesse finishing on 18th November with 98 degrees. Big name include boys to men, Hanson, Billy Ocean, Aloe Blacc, The Wanted, Tiffany and the fray.
The only way to make sure you get a seat at one of the concerts is by getting a dining package. EPCOT has 8 restaurants where you can get an Eat to the Beat Dining Package. Most of them require a reservation in advance, except for one. Whether you book in advance or do a Same-Day package, you'll get a guaranteed seat at the concert on that day. The restaurant will give you a time for the show after you finish your meal. Just remember, you can't get dining packages on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
Prices start from $56 for an adult and $21 at Spice Road Table in the Morocco Pavilion. And go all the way up to $99 for an adult or $39 for a child at Le Cellier Steakhouse in Canada. I'd probably be most tempted with Garden Grill character dining at The Land Pavilion.
This year, the only place you can get a same-day dining package is at Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue in the American Adventure Pavilion. It'll cost you $36 for adults and $21 for kids.
I’m going to be in Orlando this September for 3 weeks so I’ll be checking out who’s performing.
Last week was 4th July and it wouldn’t be Independence day without fireworks. Epcot presented Luminous With the Heartbeat of Freedom. Over in Magic Kingdom, guests enjoyed Disney’s Celebrate America, along with DJs and dance parties. As always, it can be a really busy time to visit Florida. If you’re not sure when to visit next year, check out the YouTube video link in the show notes.
A lot of you have been in touch to ask about the changes to Genie +. At the moment, you need to be within the US to be able to buy it. So if you’re planning on buying it 7 or 3 days in advance, you’ll need to be in the US. This could change, but from what we’re hearing, it’s all to do with tax and VAT which could be a problem. Disney has now confirmed that people in Canada will be able to buy it, but so far no word about us in the UK.
We’re waiting until it launches as we should have a work around for guests who’ve booked with us. This should let you buy and book it before you arrive. We’ll have an update soon for our guests.
I’m recording this on Monday 1st July 2024. Today, massive changes are coming to Lightning Lane, Tiana’s opens and Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Preview.
Let’s start with the big news from Orlando. Genie plus is no more. From 24th July, say Hello to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass.
Single Pass rides are the most popular attractions such as TRON, Guardians and Rise of the Resistance. These are separate to the multi pass. It’s pretty simple. you buy a return time for one of these rides, go at your return time, do the ride and that’s it.
Multi pass is a bit more complex. This includes most of the rides that aren’t on Single Pass. You can make 3 reservations in advance in one park. If you’re staying at a Disney or selected hotel, you can do this 7 days in advance. For anyone else, it’s 3 days.
For 3 of the 4 parks, there’s a tier system. You can book 1 from tier 1 and 2 from tier 2. It’s only Animal Kingdom that’ll have no tiers so you can book 3 of whatever you like.
For example, in Magic Kingdom, the tier 1 rides are: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain & Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. So for example you could pick Tiana’s as your tier 1 pick and then Haunted Mansion and Pirates as your tier 2 rides.
Your first 3 reservations need to be all in the same park. Once you use one on the day, you can then start making return times for rides in another park, as long as you have a park hopper ticket. If you’re coming from the UK and booked with us, you already have park hopping included.
My top picks for each park are the ones that will save you the most time, not necessarily the best rides over, but the ones that will save you waiting for ages in the standby queue.
At Magic Kingdom, my top tier picks are Jungle Cruise, Tiana’s and Peter Pan in tier 1 And Haunted Mansion, Winnie and Pirates tier 2. In Epcot, I’d go for either Remy or Frozen tier 1. In the studios, I’ll be booking Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway or Rock n roller coaster in tier 1. Then Tower of Terror, Toy Story mania and Alien Swirling Saucers from tier 2.
Over at Animal Kingdom, there are no tiers and I’d be going for Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest and the River Journey in Pandora.
If that all sounds a bit fiddly, if you’ve booked your Orlando holiday with us, don’t worry. Your Orlando Guru will help you sort everything. Just use the link in the show notes to get in touch.
Get excited, because Disney Cruise Line just dropped some major details about their upcoming ship, the Disney Treasure! This ship will be packed with all your favorite characters from Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel, as well as attractions from Walt Disney World and Disneyland. We've got all the insider info on important dates, concept art, and more to give you a sneak peek at what this new addition will bring to the DCL fleet. Stay tuned for our commentary on all the exciting features the Disney Treasure has in store!
Just like the magical Disney Wish, the incredible Disney Treasure is currently being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and will run on environmentally friendly liquefied natural gas. With a weight of around 144,000 gross tons, the Disney Treasure will be slightly bigger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
Exciting news for all adventure seekers! The Disney Treasure will set sail on its very first journey, a thrilling seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral on December 21, 2024. Following this, the Treasure will offer an amazing inaugural season of seven-night trips to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean departing from Port Canaveral
And we have more news to share with you too with the thrilling new addition to the Worlds of Marvel on the Disney Treasure - the "Guardians of the Galaxy" dinner show called "Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix."
Join Groot on an epic quest to throw the ultimate surprise party for Rocket, all while enjoying a delicious meal to the rhythm of popular songs. Test your Marvel knowledge with fun trivia that the whole family can participate in.
This incredible new show will be available on select nights at Worlds of Marvel, alongside the popular "Avengers: Quantum Encounter" show that premiered on the Disney Wish.
I am incredibly excited for Plaza de Coco, the first-ever theatrical dining experience inspired by the beloved Disney and Pixar film, "Coco." Miguel and his family will come to life in Mariachi Plaza, treating guests to two unforgettable nights of vibrant music and storytelling that honours the importance of family and traditions. The modern twist on traditional Mexican cuisine and live entertainment will truly make this a magical experience.
Plaza de Coco is set to be the must-see attraction on the Disney Treasure, offering unique dining a bit like Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure on the Disney Wish. From the sneak peeks we've seen, the design and atmosphere of Plaza de Coco promise to be just as amazing.
Tiana opened the doors to her Frontierland adventure this week. So far the reviews have been mainly positive. However, the ride does seem to be going down a lot more than Disney probably thought might happen. I discussed the problems the ride was having during previews on a previous podcast. It seems to be mainly to do with the animatronics not working. Hopefully the problems are solved pretty quickly. Orlando is in full summer mode with the parks packed out most days. Not sure when the best time to visit is? Check out our video on YouTube. The links in the show notes.

I’m recording this on Monday 24th June 2024. This week, Christmas, Monsters, Test Track & price increases.
The big news from the week of course came from Universal Orlando. As I predicted last week, lots of details were released about Dark Universe. This is Epic Universe’s land dedicated to the Universal monsters.
Universal Orlando is world famous for its Halloween Horror nights so it's going to be interesting to see what they get up to all year round.
The land will feature classic spooky tales of Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein's Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, and others with fresh new monsters and characters. One of them is Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, the great-great-grandkid of the infamous Henry Frankenstein who's carrying on his wild experiments.
When you stroll through Darkmoor – the spooky village in Dark Universe – you'll come across all the creepy characters and crazy experiments in a theme park setting that's like nothing you've ever seen before.
“We created a village and a world beyond it where not only can these stories come together, but new stories can come in as well,” explains Pete Carsillo, senior creative director for Dark Universe. “Now you’re in the same place where all those stories come together, but it’s the current day.”
Dark Universe is where you can find two cool attractions and meet some of the famous (or infamous) folks from Darkmoor. At Frankenstein Manor, you can brave the thrilling dark ride called Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment.
Dr. Victoria Frankenstein lives in the manor and she wants you to witness her latest experiment. She has already brought her own creation back to life and now she's trying to fix all the monsters causing trouble in the village - and make her family name look good again.
You'll see her plan to tame the most dangerous monster of them all, Dracula, go wrong in a big way. Things get crazy as you're chased deeper into the catacombs by a bunch of Universal Monsters.
“What I want guests to say is, ‘That was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done in my life — and you have to try it’,” says Greg Hall, Dark Universe’s creative director. “It’s hard to scare people these days. We want to make sure they have fun, and they see something they’ll never forget.”
The 2nd ride is a rollercoaster. Curse of the Werewolf, a thrilling family coaster can be experienced in the vibrant village of The Guild of Mystics.
Racing through the woods, you'll find yourself relentlessly pursued by the menacing werewolves lurking in the shadows. It's not long before you come face to face with these creatures, dodging their ferocious attacks with lightning-fast reflexes in the ancient Darkmoor armory. And when you finally return to camp, you'll be forever changed, living in constant fear of the full moon's eerie glow.
Sounds pretty spooky for a family ride doesn't it!
In Dark Universe, you can meet a bunch of cool Universal Monsters characters like Frankenstein's Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, Igor, and the Invisible Man in Darkmoor. Ok, I mean I could be looking at the Invisible Man right now? No idea how that's going to work. Maybe things move by themselves when you meet him?
Alright, let's check out the food at this place, it looks really awesome. A long time ago, an angry group of villagers burned down the old mill during the famous “Frankenstein incident.” Now, the mill has become the hangout spot for Darkmoor’s monster hunters. Along with enjoying some tavern food, guests can check out the hunters’ trophies and listen to stories from some of the village’s most interesting and unique residents. Wondering why it's called The Burning Blade Tavern? Well, the mill on top of this restaurant catches on fire every 20 minutes. So, if you like your bratwurst well-done, you're in luck. Can't wait to visit this place myself in 2025!
Buried deep beneath Darkmoor lie the creepy catacombs where vampires reside. Sitting on top of these catacombs is Das Stakehaus (get it? Like steak-house), a quick and casual eatery ruled by the minions of these blood-sucking creatures. The place is adorned with elegant art and ancient artifacts that give a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of vampires.
At Das Stakehaus, you can indulge in kebabs, burgers, sandwiches, and ribs, among other options. And as for what the vampires are feasting on? Well, you might want to cover up with a turtleneck when dining here.
Epic Universe will be opening in 2025. If you’re thinking about planning a trip, speak with your own Orlando Guru. Just use the links in the show notes to get in touch.
They're working on revamping Test Track at EPCOT right now. The ride shut down on June 17 for its big makeover, taking inspiration from the old World of Motion ride that Test Track replaced.
You can't miss the eye-catching construction walls that are blocking the Test Track building in World Discovery. Decked out with the ride's fresh logo and promising that the updated attraction is on its way, these walls are definitely making a statement. Peek behind them and you'll find a mishmash of materials, with plywood taking center stage.
Towards the rear of the attraction, you'll spot some scaffolding set up right next to the track. The construction crew wasted no time in bringing equipment to this spot as soon as the ride shut down.

Big news coming from Walt Disney World regarding changes to the Fantasmic! Dining Packages starting in August 2024.
Currently, guests can enjoy an entree, appetizer or dessert, non-alcoholic beverage, and guaranteed seating at the show with their dining package. But brace yourselves, because as of August 29, 2024, appetizers are out and alcoholic beverages are in for the 21 and older crowd.
Adults, get ready to shell out an extra $6 for your dining package at select restaurants, while kids can breathe a sigh of relief knowing their prices remain the same. But is the dining package seats worth it? Check out our video on YouTube. I review Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant so see if the seats are worth getting. Just search Orlando Insider on YouTube.
Disney World just spilled the beans on their Christmas plans, but hey didn't give away the exact start date. Makes sense though, because each park likes to kick off the festivities at different times. So, mark your calendars for November 8, because that's when the unofficial start of Christmas at Disney World is rumored to begin with the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the season. It'll be held on select nights in Magic Kingdom from early November through the week of Christmas 2024. Parties take place at 7PM to midnight.
Join Mickey and his buddies at the Cinderella Castle stage for the ultimate Christmas extravaganza you don't want to miss – “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration.” Minnie Mouse puts on a dazzling show at Magic Kingdom with “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks,” complete with castle projections, fireworks, and festive tunes. Santa Claus will fly in with his reindeer to join Mickey Mouse and pals in the must-see “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade” as it parades through the park.
And who doesn't love treats? Enjoy complimentary cookies and hot cocoa in various locations throughout Magic Kingdom – in Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and more. Santa isn't the only one with a sweet tooth during the holidays! Get ready for a frozen surprise in front of Cinderella Castle, starring Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and those adorable Snowgies. It'll be a holiday spectacle you won't want to miss during regular park hours and at the Christmas party.
Get ready for some Jollywood Nights action kicking off on November 9th! With over 20 quirky character encounters, you'll have the chance to hang out with old faves like Phineas and Ferb, as well as get to know new pals like Bo Peep and Lotso. Plus, keep an eye out for Santa Duffy and Stitch making an appearance too! Over at EPCOT, Santa Claus will be spreading holiday cheer alongside storytellers from across the globe during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, running from November 29th to December 30th. Indulge in diverse holiday traditions from around the world with fantastic storytellers, tasty treats, unique souvenirs, entertainment, and more. It's a celebration of cultural diversity that you won't want to miss!

Welcome to Orlando Holiday planning podcast. This week, we’re leaving Florida & heading over to Japan. My name’s Martin, I’m a former Disney Cast member & now a Disney travel professional. Today we're diving into one of the most amazing Disney parks on the planet—Tokyo Disney Sea & Tokyo Disneyland.
Tokyo DisneySea is often hailed as the most amazing theme park in the world. But before you pack your bags & set sail for this incredible place, there's one crucial element you need to get right — timing. Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea are the 3rd & 4th most visited theme parks in the world.
As a Disney travel agent, I’m often asked when the best time to visit Japan is. But, let’s start with when are the busiest & worst times to visit.
First up, New Year's Celebrations. Starting right after December 25th, when the Christmas event ends, Tokyo Disneyl& sees a surge in visitors during the first week of January. The festive atmosphere & special celebrations attract hordes of people eager to ring in the new year. If you’re planning a visit around this time, be prepared for large crowds & long wait times.
Next, Spring Break, which typically is the end of February to March. It’s a popular time for families & students on school breaks. The exact timing can vary depending on the schools in Japan, but expect increased crowds during this period. If you can, try to avoid these weeks.
Now, let’s talk about Golden Week. This is considered the busiest time at Tokyo Disneyl&, from the end of April to the first week of May. Golden Week has several national holidays, & many locals take advantage of the long break to visit the park. The result? Large crowds & longer wait times. If possible, steer clear of Golden Week to avoid the heaviest traffic.
July & August bring summer holidays, along with hot & humid weather, to Tokyo Disneyl&. Tourists flock to the park to escape the heat & enjoy various indoor & outdoor activities. Expect significant crowds during these months. If you must visit during the summer, try to go on weekdays to minimise wait times.
Regardless of the season, weekends & public holidays are consistently busy. It’s always a good idea to plan your trip for weekdays if you want to avoid the worst of the crowds. Trust me, your feet will thank you!
In Japan, schoolchildren have Mondays off due to Sports Days, where they participate in various athletic activities. As a result, Mondays can be just as busy as weekends at Tokyo Disneyl&, with families taking advantage of the long weekend. Keep this in mind when scheduling your visit.
Finally, the first & last days of seasonal events at Tokyo Disneyl& tend to draw larger crowds. These events often feature unique experiences or limited-time attractions, & many want to be among the first or last to enjoy the festivities. If you’re not keen on battling the crowds, try to visit in the middle of these events.
First up, let's talk about mid-January. If you’re looking for a less crowded time to visit Tokyo Disneyl&, this is your best bet. Right after the New Year’s break, the park is much quieter.
So shorter wait times & less hustle & bustle. Imagine having more room to explore & getting on your favourite rides without the long queues. Sounds perfect, right?
The weather during April is also warm & inviting, allowing you to explore the attractions comfortably. Be sure to check the specific dates for cherry blossom festivals & events within the park. Witnessing the beauty of the cherry blossoms in full bloom adds an enchanting touch to your Tokyo Disneyl& experience.
Moving on to after May 7th. Post-Golden Week, which ends on May 6th, the crowds go down, making it an ideal time to visit.
For those who love festive celebrations, visiting from the end of October to November is a must. The park hosts both Halloween & Christmas events, providing a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
Now, if you don’t mind a little rain, consider visiting Tokyo Disneyl& during the typhoon season or the rainy season. Typhoon days occur between July & October, & rainy days are more common in June, which is the rainy season in Tokyo.
These weather conditions often discourage visitors, resulting in significantly lower crowds, shorter lines, & a unique experience at the park. Don’t let a little rain dampen your Disney spirit; it might just be the perfect opportunity for a quieter adventure.
Finally, a pro tip for all you early birds out there—arrive at the park 1-2 hours before it opens. This strategy gives you the opportunity to be one of the first visitors inside. You’ll get to experience popular attractions with shorter wait times & explore the park before it gets too crowded.
I’m going to break it down month by month, giving you an idea of what to expect throughout the year. Let's start with January.
The year kicks off with high crowds, especially during the first week. But don't worry, from the second week onwards, the low season begins. This means fewer tourists & shorter queues. Perfect for those who prefer a quieter experience.
While February brings cold temperatures to Japan, it also brings student discounts. This can make the crowds a bit unpredictable. Be prepared for some queue times, but overall visitor numbers remain relatively lower this month.
Ah, spring break! March sees students flocking to the parks, resulting in higher crowds. Many attractions offer student discounts during this time, so expect popular spots to be busy.
Warmer weather & cherry blossoms in April —what's not to love? To avoid the start of Golden Week, one of Japan’s busiest holiday periods, it's best to visit before April 29. April is also popular with international tourists eager to witness the stunning Sakura.
The rainy season begins in May, but don't let that dampen your spirits. Rainfall can be hit or miss, so keep an eye on the weather forecast & pack an umbrella just in case.
June is Typhoon season! High winds & heavy rains are common, but surprisingly, this leads to lower crowds. Most outdoor attractions remain open during storms, & indoor ones continue to operate, offering alternative options for visitors.
In July, the heat & humidity can be unbearable, but crowds are typically lower at the beginning of the month. However, summer vacation kicks in towards the end, leading to increased visitor numbers.
Into August, Expect scorching heat, humidity, & large crowds. Summer holidays & Obon Week attract maximum capacity, resulting in longer waiting times.
With summer holidays over, the crowds start to diminish in September. The weather remains warm, making it a more peaceful time to explore popular attractions without the overwhelming crowds of earlier months.
Halloween brings higher crowds due to its growing popularity in Japan. Typhoons can still occur, so be prepared for potential disruptions.
Cold weather begins in November, making it an excellent time to visit before the New Year holidays. Avoid the period between December 25 & early January, as it is one of the busiest times in Japan.
December is Cold & festive! Experience a winter wonderl&, but like November, avoid the crowds between December 25 & early January due to the New Year holidays.
Our team is ready & waiting to help with your trip to Japan.
