She is also the author of the Justine Byrne Historical Mysteries and the Faye Longchamp Archaeological Mysteries, which have received awards including the Oklahoma Book Award, the Benjamin Franklin Award, the Mississippi Book Award, three Florida Book Awards Bronze Medals, and a Will Rogers Medallion Awards Gold Medal. Her essays on science and the environment have appeared in publications including The Atlantic’s Technology Channel, EarthLines, and Flyway. She is a former University of Oklahoma professor, where she taught fiction and nonfiction writing, and her scholarly interests center on Agatha Christie’s depiction of justice and gender.
