Episode 162 - Pink Floyd Part 22, A Momentary Lapse of Reason Remixed and Updated 2019
Episode 162 – Pink Floyd Part 22, A Momentary Lapse of Reason Remixed and Updated 2019 In this episode the group considers the updated version of Pink Floyd’s A Momentary Lapse of Reason. This is an album that was originally made to be “of its time.” It seems that Gilmour and company thought that maybe it didn’t quite stand the test of time that way. Does this update and remix create a “timeless” sound or does it remove some of the original magic? Follow along with us as we consider these ideas and so much more. Episode 161 - Pink Floyd Part 21, Animals 2022 Remix
Episode 161 – Pink Floyd Part 21, Animals 2022 Remix Upfront apologies for the tense energy at the beginning of this otherwise charming episode considering the 2022 remix of Pink Floyd’s Animals. The backstory of this remix involves some now-standard drama from the band members. Once past that, however, the Palaver group find this remix to be a breath of fresh air for an album that deserved some upkeep. The sound is enhanced and the songs benefit from the treatment, making this a welcome update. Special Concert Series 36 – The Sisters of Mercy in Dallas, Oct 2024 A blast from the past on a tangent! In October 2024, Joe and Sarah went to see The Sisters of Mercy in Dallas. This is decidedly not prog, but still of interest to the members of the Palaver. Here we share this short conversation about a very interesting and fun concert from a band we think is worth your consideration. SCS35 - Marillion Weekend Bonus Chat with Planet Marzipan Guest, Graeme
Special Concert Series 35 – Marillion Weekend Bonus Chat with Planet Marzipan Guest Graeme Here is a brief, fun look back to the Marillion Weekend in Port Zelande 2025. Joe had the immense pleasure to meet Graeme and his son on the bus from the airport to Port Zelande. An immediate friendship was born that was confirmed as the two kept running into each other throughout the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, before the final show, Joe and Graeme took a few minutes to chat about the weekend. We hope you enjoy going back to this fantastic event with us for some light banter with adequate background noise. Cheers! Episode 160 – Fish Part 12, Internal Exile 2024 Remix The group continues with the second of Fish’s 2024 remixes, covering Internal Exile. While presenting a more light-handed remix this album still reveals some surprises. The Palaver generally finds a lot of joy in revisiting this classic Fish record that really showed him coming into his own. We hope you enjoy this exploration and comparison. Episode 159 - Fish Part 11, Vigil In a Wilderness of Mirrors 2024 Remix
Episode 159 – Fish Part 11, Vigil In a Wilderness of Mirrors 2024 This episode of the Progressive Palaver is the first in a short segment where the group considers some of the myriad remixes and remasters that have been released in the past few years. This 2024 remix of Fish’s debut solo album presents a dramatic departure from the original. Cleaner and more focused, this remix fits right in with the latest Fish albums while maintaining the charm of the original. This treatment, for the most part, allows these songs to take on a new and vibrant life. We hope you enjoy our discussion. Special Episode - Interview with Paul Bielatowicz, May 2025
Special Episode – Interview with Paul Bielatowicz – May 2025 The Palaver had the distinct pleasure of interviewing the amazing guitarist Paul Bielatowicz. We were able to discuss a wide variety of topics ranging from Paul’s gig in the Carl Palmer ELP Legacy to all of his other wide-ranging projects. Paul was able to give us a glimpse into his enticing Patreon community and we were happy to hear his (somewhat) unorthodox approach to guitar playing. Paul is a true gentleman and we very much enjoyed out time speaking with him. We hope you all enjoy it too. paulbielatowicz.com X: @progpala Facebook: www.facebook.com/ProgPala YouTube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCw_Xxit3D8wbv-AcJ_7Z__w/featured Theme music provided by: Dave DeWhitt

Special Episode – Interview with Fenando Perdomo – January 2025 At long last we had the privilege of speaking with Fernando Perdomo! You can’t be in the prog world in the 21st century and not know of Fernando. We were thrilled that he was able to make time to discuss many topics including his massive, ambitious Waves project, influences, writing and recording style, and, of course, the devasatating LA fires. For a man who is going to release 12 albums in a year, Fernando still managed to find time to help his friend and neighbors. Check out Fernando’s Waves and MusicCares! Episode 157 – Styx & Kansas Part 10, 1986 to 2000 Technical Note: apologies for the stalker breathing throughout this episode In this episode the group considers the decade plus where both Styx and Kansas search for who or what they are. Both bands see significant lineup changes resulting in albums that, while enjoyable, didn’t seem to capture the previous magic. This period ends for both bands by trying to recapture the intangible aspects of their heyday personnel. We loosely cover the four albums in this period, Edge of the Century, Brave New World, Power, and Somewhere to Elsewhere.
