Instead of the same intro week after week, if you're new, start here!
Maybe you're new here, maybe you've been around since the beginning. Either way, times are changing. In this episode, we're summing up what our deconstruction and podcast have meant and where we are now. Most importantly, we talk about where we're going and what that means for you. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Happy 50th Episode!!!!! And happy 10,000 downloads! We are so so so honored you're wondering along with us. Thank you so much for supporting our conversations with your engagement! To honor this milestone we decided to do a follow up to Becka's story and share Amber's story of deconstructing and reconstructing. Amber has been actively deconstructing since the start of this podcast but because she and her husband were employed by a ministry she kept her story private until now. We hope you enjoy getting to hear more from her on this!

While we're finishing up some technical changes and shifts, we're jumping back in with some backlogged conversations. In this episode, we talk through how religion and capitalism have impacted our need to feel like we've accomplished enough. Amber specifically brings up some issues with growing up focusing on having a large impact in ministry, and now figuring out what success means with that new void. If you've wondered "what's next" or "what do I do with my life now", this is a great conversation for you. Join in and wonder with us.

We're back with another conversation about sensuality, sexuality, and all the ways growing up in early 2000's purity culture affected our development of both of those things. In this episode, we go over some of the reactions and questions Amber got when she did an anonymous Q&A on her instagram and her story of coming out, identifying as queer while in a heteronormative monogamous relationship, and her perspective on unraveling sexuality and orientation as a woman in your 30's. Join in and wonder with us.
Happy New Year Wonderers! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and we are so excited to be back for another season of Prone To Wonder. Join us today as we sit down together for our first recording of the year and Amber shares about a midlife existential crisis she's currently in and we jump all over from topic to topic related to how sometimes in a deconstruction journey it spirals way beyond just deconstructing our religious beliefs. If you've ever felt like you were deconstructing everything, this episode is for you!

If the midterm elections left you feeling chaotic and frustrated, you're not alone. Politics are tricky to navigate in general but if you've switched sides or are in a deconstruction or faith transition that is leaving you with differing perspectives than your family, friends, or previous community it can feel extra tricky and frustrating. Listen in as Amber shares her perspective being a deconstructed evangelical living in the south in Georgia.
*18+ convo*
For those of us who grew up in the early 2000's height of purity culture and are now raising kids of our own, navigating the conversations around sex, safety, expectations, and respect with our kids can feel especially tricky. Most of us don't have a positive roadmap of how to have these conversations and it can be a battle against fear when we are trying to figure out what to say and how to approach things. As parents of preteens who are growing up in the age of tiktok, Amber and Becka are navigating this in real time and in today's conversation share how they are approaching it and what they think is the number 1 most important thing to remember in these conversations no matter where you fall in your beliefs. Listen in and let us know your thoughts!
Becka and Amber dig deep into the concept of "EMBODIMENT" and what it means to them in their deconstruction and reclamation journeys. Embodiment and somatics are a popular topic but what does that mean for those of us who were taught not to trust our bodies or that our natural urges were evil? Listen in as the ladies dig deeper into the big feelings they were taught they shouldn't feel and how they've been working to reclaim a sense of embodiment.
Welcome to our new release day! Thursdays are where its at! Hope you're hanging with us today because this is a topic we hear in conversations a LOT! How do we deal with doubt during deconstruction or a faith transition? That little voice in the back of our mind that says, "But what if you're wrong about all this?!" In this week's episode we talk about how we work though this, the verses that have helped us, the books and resources that help, and more. Let us know your thoughts after! We are so excited to share this hilarious conversation with you guys. In it, we talk about the experience of "The Audacity" and what it feels like and has meant for us in our reclamation of our sensuality. We are now considering getting matching tattoos over this. Listen in and let us know what the audacity means to you!

In this episode REMIX we pull out of our archives one of our first episodes in which Amber shares about her fears (and possible heart attack) surrounding her first experience in a New Age bookshop and we address the very blurry lines between things we experienced growing up in the church and things we were told were evil by the church. Have you ever thought about how similar some of these things like manifesting and prayer, prophecy conferences and tarot readers, speaking in tongues and channeling, laying on hands and energy healers are? Join us as we question everything in this week's episode.

In this week's episode, we tackle an instagram voted on topic which is the problem of spiritual bypassing in reguards to mental health both in the western evangelical church AND in the new age spiritual communities which so many of us who deconstruct find ourselves among. It can be challenging to feel like we are coming up against stigma and judgement no matter where we go and when Becka brought this topic up on Instagram it was unanimously voted on as a topic to talk more about. So in this episode we share about Spiritual Bypassing, what it is, what it looks like, and the truth of mental health self care. We'd love to hear your thoughts. In this week's BONUS episode (which Becka has decided is her new favorite of all of season 3!) Amber brings up the topic of vanity and pride and how sometimes she struggles with the blooming confidence she is experiencing as she reclaims her sense of self after growing up in purity culture in the evangelical church of the 90's and 2000's.
This unscripted chit chat style episode invites you into what it's like to just sit around with us and hash out a topic. We hope you love the silly twists and turns as we help each other navigate the sticky feelings of "is this cringe?" "is this okay?" and "why is this an issue for me!?"
We cover everything from thirst traps to the emotional labor we felt like we were trained to manage as young women to tinted moisturizer. Come along and wonder with us.

*TW* This episode is a response episode to the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade. In it we openly discuss 18+ topics such as abortion, reproductive rights, sex, the sanctity of life and use a lot of adult language. Listener discretion is advised.
Amber and Becka both ended up on the pro-choice side of the Roe v. Wade discussion but how we got there was two very different paths. For anyone in the midst of their own deconstruction, faith transition or even just reclamation of their personal sovereignty, we hope that hearing our candid discussion after the ruling helps you feel less alone and perhaps inspires you to think outside your own box, take action where needed, and have grace for more people than you did before. With love, Amber & Becka

In today's BONUS episode we are responding to YOUR comments from our "Praying For You" episode. We loved hearing your responses to the conversation and the responses formed the most beautiful spectrum of experience. We thought it was too good to skip over so today we are digging more into your remarks and clarifying for you our stance on deconstruction, what we hope for you, and the container we are building for our community with these conversations. When you go through a faith transition like deconstruction, one of the most universally unsettling experiences that no one talks about is when you lose jargon that at one point was so comforting to you. What do you say when you can't say those things anymore? Why are those phrases so engrained in us? Why do they make us feel better? And what do we do and say now? Join us as Becka and Amber share about navigating these strange shifts and share what helps them make sense of it all and move forward to find new ways of expressing care and concern.

We're back with a special conversation you asked us for- How do we navigate modesty and sex positivity in parenting? For those of us that are reclaiming our own spiritual and sexual autonomy after a deconstruction or faith transition it can feel overwhelming trying to parent young people through a stage of life we don't have a model of parenting for or that we are just now figuring out for ourselves since we were not allowed to when we were younger. If you've felt the tension of this situation, we hope that this conversation makes you feel less alone and leaves you with a feeling of hope that you're already doing a great job just by caring about getting better at this.
