We focus a lot on looking at our children's future, seeing their potential, and moving them toward their destinies--as well we should! This is a key part of raising them! Today I'm encouraging us to not forget to cherish and treasure our children right where they are today. They are already special and wonderful, and a gift from heaven.

I'm excited to tell the story of my ONE HOUR, accidental unassisted home birth today! After a challenging fifth birth and then a miscarriage, I had a lot of questions and concerns about my body and my ability to birth more babies. God answered all the questions and assuaged my fears with a new wonderful pregnancy, and the most fabulous birth I could imagine--with just my husband and my mom in attendance. SPOILER ALERT: the midwife didn't make it!

Then we have one, two, three, etc. They're all tiny, then suddenly they can all tie their shoes and buckle themselves into the car. "Nice" tends to be code for "do whatever you have to do to keep the peace." We don't want to raise our kids to be nice, rather, we want to help them get to know the Holy Spirit personally so that the fruit of the Spirit can flow out of their lives. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control are far superior to being nice.
