Hark, we have a coach! Today's episode is a recording of the live episode we did on did earlier in the day on Friday, after the news came out that Penn State was finalizing a deal with now-former Iowa State coach Matt Campbell (this should explain why the first 20 seconds or so are so weird).
Since then, Penn State has gone on to announce Campbell as its new coach. And on today's show, Bill and Nick discuss targeting Campbell, his fit in Happy Valley, the process that led to his hiring, and what we can learn from the leaked audio of a meeting between Pat Kraft and a collection of Penn State players that leaked earlier in the day on Friday.

Well, that's unfortunate! On today's episode of the podcast, Bill and Nick discuss Kalani Sitake opting to stay at BYU, which elongates Penn State's search for a coach and led to egg all over Pat Kraft's face. Is this a disaster? How do we feel about Kraft right now? And where should he turn now as he tries to save face?

Well, that wasn't fun. The losing streak continues for Penn State, and Nick and Bill are back to break down this week's loss to the Buckeyes in Columbus. It wasn't ALL bad for the Nittany Lions and there were some flashes of hope, but overall, things are still bad.

It's Penn State's second bye week, so we decided to do something a little different and get a national perspective on [gestures at everything that has happened since the Nittany Lions fired James Franklin]. On today's episode, Bill sat down with Chris Vannini of The Athletic to discuss the decision to fire Franklin, where Chris believes the Penn State job sits in the college football hierarchy, and who Pat Kraft should target as he tries to identify the next coach of the Nittany Lions.

On today's edition of the pod, Bill discussed the game, both sides of the ball, and why despite the fight the team showed on Saturday, things are probably going to get worse before they get better.

Penn State's strangest week in quite some time can only end in one way: A trip to Kinnick Stadium to play Iowa at night with an interim head coach and a backup quarterback leading the charge. On today's episode of the pod, Bill and Nick share some further thoughts on the decision to move on from James Franklin before discussing the Nittany Lions' game against the Hawkeyes — will the team rally and pick up their first Big Ten win of the season, or are they in for a long 60 minutes in an always difficult place to play?
