Welcome to the RVCC Podcast, where we embark on a journey to "Read Scripture Responsibly." In this series, we delve into the depths of biblical texts, uncovering their historical, cultural, and theological layers to better understand their relevance today. In our inaugural episode, join hosts Krystal, Jeff, and Joe as they explore one of the most debated passages in the New Testament: 1 Timothy 2:11–15. Often cited in discussions about women's roles in the church, this passage may seem restrictive at first glance. However, when examined within its historical and cultural context, it reveals a richer and more nuanced message.
Discover the challenges faced by the early church in Ephesus, the groundbreaking encouragement for women's education, and the importance of character over gender in church leadership. As we break down this passage, we aim to equip you with the tools to read Scripture with depth and responsibility, ensuring that its teachings empower rather than restrict.
Join us as we uncover the richness of God's Word, challenge preconceived notions, and inspire a deeper understanding of faith. If you find this episode enlightening, share it with a friend or leave a review. Let's continue the conversation and grow together in our journey of faith. We are told angels are ultimately created to support/serve humans, not for humans to be dominated by the control of spiritual forces such as angels. Jesus identifies with us by becoming human (Hebrews 2) and being subject to those forces isn’t overcome by them (see the Gospels and Jesus interacting with any demon). Passages: Hebrews 1-2

Unity matters more than uniformity. We need to realize that how we embody the Gospel, how we treat each other, how we love people who are different than us is essential to our witness.
Passages: John 17:20-23
In this family...
Following matters more than winning. Let’s be faithful to Jesus and love one another as he loved us.
Discernment matters more than dogmatism. Let’s be lovers of the truth and speak the truth in love.
Kingdom matters more than country. Let’s seek the prosperity of our shared home, without forgetting where our citizenship truly resides.
And in this family, unity matters more than uniformity. Let’s commit to honoring and fellowshipping with those who are different than us, so that we may compel the world to see that Jesus truly makes a difference.

Jesus wants to save Americans but He has no interest in ruling America. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about America (or any other country for that matter). it just means his kingdom is bigger than just our country. Join Joe and Jeff as they have a conversation about Christian Nationalism and what that means, how we can be aware, and why kingdom over country is best.
