Montréal-born, Berlin-based artist Jeena is the latest DJ in the spotlight for SceneNoise’s Select series, delivering a mix that reflects her multidisciplinary approach to sound. A composer, practitioner and founder of the neuroacoustic platform Aurras, Jeena operates at the intersection of music and ritual, crafting environments designed to alter perception and foster collective presence. Her work often blurs the line between the dancefloor and the ceremonial, drawing on an eclectic palette that ranges from ambient and psychedelic textures to the driving rhythms of techno and trance. With a portfolio that includes performances at DGTL Festival, Roskilde and ADE, as well as collaborations with Vogue Scandinavia and Intercept Records, Jeena’s practice extends far beyond traditional DJing. Whether through large-scale sonic installations or meditative sound journeys, her focus remains on deep listening and the transformative power of vibration. Select 369: Mixed by Shadzo by SceneNoise

Over the past 15 years, Montreal-based DJ, producer and sound engineer, Lio, has been meticulously refining his sound, blurring the lines between electronic subgenres with his hypnotic sensibilities. The Lebanese artist has come to be known for his stripped-back club sets and acoustic designs alike, using a plethora of aliases, such as Reakt, Digital Natives, Dubwiser, Spoken and Monosapien. Since co-founding Beirut-based collective and record label, Hypnotic LTD, he has been applying his technical precision to different areas, dabbling in a more fluid, jazz-leaning minimalism rooted in deep listening. His select set is a reflection of that current sound and exploration. A sun-drenched mix of jazz-inflected house and ambient grooves that will cure your winter blues, the set features cuts by artists like Tom Noble, Stewart Walker, Orient Expressions, Simon Psford, Nicola Conte, and Aris Kokou. “I recorded this set on a sunny Sunday at home, surrounded by my wife and our daughter, Yoko Jazz, which naturally brought a jazzy touch to the recording,” Lio tells SceneNoise of a mix packed with wonky synths, found sound samples, experimental transitions and atmospheric textures.

Over the last three years, Ram has emerged on Cairo’s evolving underground landscape with a sonic versatility that feels at home in both major clubs and obscure, alternative spaces. In 2024, he delivered a minimal house mix for Select 258, and for his return to SceneNoise’s long-running series, he wades into warmer waters - at least to begin with. Beginning with a foundation of funky grooves, Ram eventually guides the energy toward a grittier, heavier and more intense pace, trading smooth rhythms for sharp textures and stronger basslines that ease you into a high-energy vacuum - a transition anchored in standout tracks like Masarima’s ‘Freak with U (Egyptian Lover Remix)’, ‘My Japanese Friend’ by JNJS3, ‘Like I Like It’ by Mau P and ‘Ballan’s Patriatchy is Done (Romantic Mix)’.

Hailing from Beirut, Banx is a vinyl collector, DJ, and audiophile with a sprawling collection of rare jazz, funk and soul records, and a serious penchant for old-school hip-hop cuts. His skilful mixing style has earned him recognition across the region’s dance music circuit, performing at major venues like Honeycomb HiFi Dubai, The Ballroom Blitz, The Grand Factory, and B018, as well as Aegis Festival in Batroun. Outside his homeland, Banx also did his rounds at prestigious clubs across Brussels, Limassol, and Dubai, sharing the decks with prominent international artists like Lethal Skills and DJ EF. For his Select set, Banx delivers an eclectic house mix, blending hip-hop and its subgenres with deep grooves and uplifting funky rhythms, dropping a timeless classic here and there.

A familiar name in Cairo’s underground scene, OT has built a steady reputation as one of its most promising DJs and producers, crafting a hypnotic flow of ro-minimal, deep-tech, and progressive techno that’s as sleek as it is groovy. For Select 366, he delivers a deft deep-tech set that folds minimal techno pulses into warm, fuzzy house textures, all shaped by his signature stripped-back finesse. The mix features fresh cuts from his own catalogue, including 'Spacious' and '50 Years of Nothing', alongside tight remixes from standouts like Joey and Costin RP.

Hailing from Beirut, Chloë H has established herself as one of the most promising talents coming out of Lebanon’s electronic scene. Her sets move comfortably between underground grooves and pop-inflected tracks, weaving in humour and unexpected turns, whether through a nostalgic remix or a deep tech-house cut. Her musical selections are informed by a background that spans both pop culture and the city’s underground scene. Whether she's playing to a small group of friends or big rooms, she knows how to shape the energy of the space and keep things engaging from start to finish without ever feeling forced. For her set on SceneNoise’s Select mix series, Chloë opens with upbeat, melodic grooves that nod to familiar hooks, then transitions into tighter, percussion-led sections where the energy builds and shifts in unexpected ways, with tracks like ‘Do It Again’ by Chemical Brothers and ‘Cash Money’ by Justin Jay. By the close, she explores more spacious, hypnotic patterns, leaving a sense of openness and curiosity in their wake. “Over the past years, between the aftermath of COVID and the turmoil in my country and region, I often had to adapt, shifting toward more mainstream, open-format sounds that brought people familiarity, nostalgia and joy.” Chloë tells SceneNoise about her Select set. “But this recording is different. It’s me going back to my core, to the sound that has always been mine, unapologetically. It’s not about fitting in or meeting expectations.”

Having first cut her teeth playing for friends at London house parties before graduating to the equally intimate confines of speakeasies and small clubs, the journey of Jordanian DJ, Maya, has led her to be a proponent of underground genres and subgenres.  While she maintains her base in the English capital, Maya’s musical soul is still very much back home, as she channels her global influences into Jordan’s own burgeoning electronic music scene. This dedication extends to her role as co-founder of naqd, a popular Amman-based party series born from the collective vision of three friends. With a shared commitment to building community, naqd has become celebrated for fostering an atmosphere of intimacy and radical inclusivity within the city's nightlife. For her exclusive set for the latest episode of SceneNoise’s long-running Select series, Maya starts off with a focused energy that showcases breakbeat-heavy electro, characterised by nostalgic 90s and early-2000s breaks and layered with cosmic synthesisers. It then shifts subtly, moving into a section defined by deeper, percussion-driven sounds, before finally dissolving into the stripped-back, hypnotic rhythm of minimal house. This week on Select, we have Prïss, one the most exciting DJs and producers coming out of Beirut. Known for eclectic sets that weave through funk, soul, house, minimal, breaks and leftfield techno, Prïss is now based in Nairobi, where she has been exploring alternative music and sound design, collaborating with regional artists on live performances and releases that challenge conventional club frameworks. A familiar name on the global circuit, Prïss has shared the decks with international heavyweights like Dixon, Âme, Gerd Janson, A Guy Called Gerald, Nick Höppner, Éclair Fifi, and HVOB. Her versatile style has taken her from Beirut’s Ballroom Blitz, where she held a monthly residency, to stages across Paris, Austria, Jordan, Switzerland, Hamburg, and Berlin. Outside the booth, she runs Puzzle.ke, a Nairobi-based events brand known for pushing the boundaries of venue design, visual production, and curation, spotlighting musicians in immersive, experimental setups. For her Select set, Prïss delivers a glitchy, futuristic journey through deep-tech and minimal house, one of her favourite musical styles. Expect acid-tinted basslines, obscure samples, and flashes of Italian dream house, with tracks like Nicole Moudaber’s “A La Follie” and Onirik’s “Spencer Direct Line.” It is this kind of set that feels like staring out the window of a rocket ship zooming into space.

This week on Select, we tap into the raw energy of Tunisia’s underground scene with XZ5000. The Swiss-based DJ and producer’s sets are notorious for being abrasive and unexpected, weaving gritty textures with playful grooves that keep the dancefloor on all toes from start to finish. In this mix, XZ5000 spins a genre-hopping mix that kicks off with slow-burning ambient soundscape before unravelling into a labyrinth of jagged percussion, warped techno patterns and trance-flecked basslines, embellished with broken rhythms and noise textures. This week on our Select mix series, Egyptian DJ, Nu Sheirf, steps in with an exclusive tech-house mix. With a knack for wicked grooves, Nu has built a reputation in Cairo’s electronic scene with her signature tech-house-meets-old-school house mixes. Her Select set features a slick lineup of eclectic tunes like ‘Noche Y Dia’ by Fuego, ‘Ease My Mind’ by Chris Lake and ‘Who’s That Girl’ by Afterman. Musician, craftswomen, engineer - the latest DJ to step into the Select spotlight wears many hats. Salma Baset by day, DJ Khorda by night, the Cairo-based spinner takes us on a sonic ride that travels through everything from industrial club music to glitchy electroacoustic compositions, stopping off at the kind of genre-defying sounds that Khorda credits with indirectly inspiring her to make her own music. The set features music by the likes of Aylu, Sega Bodega, Sharar and Mika Oki, tracks that come together to give us a window into a unique musical mind whose selections offer her catharsis amidst chaos. This week’s select comes courtesy of DJ, style maven and party planner, Sarah Hardan. A regular at Dubai’s hottest parties, she has previously played alongside global major acts such as Kid Francescoli, Rampa, Honey Dijon and more. She brings us a chill, groovy house mix imbued with comic flows that feel like the perfect soundtrack for a late summer night friends gathering. The set features an eclectic selection of tunes, such as ‘The Psychedelic Sexperience’ by Nesta, ‘Always a Kid’ by Bootie Groove, and ‘Angel By My Side’ by Legit Trip.

This week on Select, we welcome Cyber Witch, a Palestinian DJ, producer and sound engineer, whose sets are an avant-garde patchwork of Mediterranean alternative influences, meshed together with experimental electronic, techno house and ambient textures. Cyber Witch is also a curator and resident at Radio Flouka, where she hosts ‘Witchy Hour’, a monthly show dedicated to spotlighting talents from the underground electronic scene across the region. For our number 355 of Select, she has cooked an hour mix of experimental techno imbued with layers of hypnotic rhythms, atmospheric textures and forward-thinking sound design. The set features a taste-making selection of tracks, such as Postdrone & Otteswed’s ‘Bir Ad-Dir’, BLANKA’s ‘Talk to Me’, Tsukuyomi’s ‘Hollow’, along with one of her own productions Hudood.

This week on Select, we welcome Palestinian jazzist and vinyl maverick, Felonious Funk. Her penchant for crate-digging has taken her to various record stores from Brooklyn to Mexico City, Paris and Dubai, accumulating over 1000 vinyls. For the 354th episode of Select, she spins a fully analog mix, weaving funky, jazzy and synth-heavy house cuts of both classic and new jams. The set kicks off with a sweltering synthwork with the unmistakable energy of Djoko, and closes with a soulful sample from the Jazz legend Marvin Gaye with a T.Markakis twist.

This week’s Select mix comes courtesy of a man who has gained a following for his unique grime, UK dubstep and experimental hip-hop influences. When he’s not wearing his DJ/producer hat, Palestine native Sami is the brain behind the Dasam party series, though he curates events that spotlight emerging, forward-thinking talents from both the local and international underground electronic scene. For Select 353, he brings us an unpredictable club mix of his sound, moving through grime, left-field bass and experimental trap, while making space for some of his own productions, such as ‘Sarmadi’ and ‘Mat3’anish’.

Hailing from Morocco, DJ and co-founder of Frangements collective Rikku has developed a niche mixing style, drawing influences from oriental classics, rock and metal, as well as disco, pop, old-school rap and R&B. In his takeover on our Select series this week, he brings us an exclusive mix of minimal, electro and house, packed with feel-good vibes and an eclectic selection of tunes, such as ‘1981’ by Deadmau5, ‘Try Again’ by Pierre Marty, ‘Love Lesson’ by HearThug, and ‘High Heavens’ by Big Miz.
