Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible | Week 8: Part 1 | Luke 12–19 | The Kingdom Within You

Welcome to this calming episode of the Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible, where I read from the King James Version of the Holy Bible accompanied by peaceful, soothing music. Tonight’s reading continues in the Gospel of Luke, chapters 12 through 19, where Jesus teaches, heals, and shares parables that reveal the heart of God and the beauty of His kingdom.
In these chapters, Jesus warns against hypocrisy and greed, urging His followers to store up treasures in heaven rather than on earth. He calls His listeners to repentance and faithfulness, reminding them that the Son of Man will come at an unexpected hour. Through beloved parables—the Lost Sheep, the Prodigal Son, and the Rich Man and Lazarus—He reveals the compassion of a Father who seeks and saves the lost.
We also witness Jesus healing ten lepers, blessing children, and teaching that the kingdom of God is not something to be observed, but is found within you. His journey toward Jerusalem continues, filled with mercy, truth, and eternal wisdom.
📖 Highlighted Verses

  • Luke 12:34 — “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
  • Luke 13:29 — “And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.”
  • Luke 15:7 — “Joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”
  • Luke 15:20 — “But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion.”
  • Luke 17:21 — “Behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
  • Luke 18:16 — “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”

As you rest, may these timeless words bring comfort and peace, reminding you that the same Lord who taught in parables still speaks tenderly to your heart today.

Sleepy Scriptures
Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible | Week 7: Part 3 | Genesis 49–50 & Exodus 1–6 | From Joseph’s Blessing to Moses’ Calling

In tonight’s readings, we conclude the Book of Genesis and begin the Book of Exodus. In Genesis chapters 49 and 50, Jacob blesses his sons and prophesies over the twelve tribes of Israel before peacefully passing away. Joseph’s faith shines as he forgives his brothers once more, assuring them that though their intentions were for harm, God meant it for good.
As we enter Exodus chapters 1 through 6, a new generation of Israelites arises in Egypt. They multiply greatly, but soon face oppression under Pharaoh. In the midst of their suffering, God raises up Moses, preserving him from danger and calling him to deliver His people. Through the burning bush, God reveals His name—“I AM THAT I AM”—and assures Moses that He will be with him.
These chapters remind us that even when God’s promises seem distant, His plan is always unfolding. The same God who guided Jacob and Joseph and called Moses to freedom still works powerfully in our lives today.
Highlighted Verses:

  • Genesis 50:20 — “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”
  • Exodus 2:24 — “And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.”
  • Exodus 3:14 — “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM.”
  • Exodus 4:12 — “Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.”
  • Exodus 6:7 — “And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God.”

As you drift into rest, let these timeless words remind you that God never forgets His promises and His presence is with you always.
