Episode 58: Sobriety, Purpose & Life Design with Guest Nisha Patel

DOWNLOAD YOUR FREE GUIDE TO LIVING ALCOHOL-FREE HERE

Megan sits down with special guest, Nisha Patel, LPC, the founder of The Nishe — a counseling and coaching practice rooted in helping people heal, grow, and design lives aligned with their values.

Long before she became a therapist, she knew she wanted to help others. As a child, she would often say she’d grow up to be a teacher — and in so many ways, she did… just not in the way she originally imagined.

After getting sober at just 24 years old, Nisha gained the clarity that changed the course of her life. She left behind a marketing career and pursued her true calling, earning her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health and becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor over a decade ago.

In this episode, we talk about:

✨ How sobriety creates clarity and opens doors to purpose
✨ Navigating identity shifts after quitting drinking
✨ Career changes and major life transitions
✨ What it means to design a life around your values
✨ Moving beyond survival and into a life that feels meaningful and grounded

Nisha began her clinical work as a DBT therapist and has since expanded her approach to include hypnotherapy, brainspotting, and Life Design & Transition Coaching.

Nisha’s coaching supports not only individuals in recovery, but also those navigating major life transitions — including career changes, identity shifts, and seasons of reinvention.

Her work helps clients anchor into their core values while stepping into new chapters with clarity, intention, and confidence.

Through counseling, coaching, workshops, and speaking, Nisha blends evidence-based therapy with creativity and compassion to help people move beyond survival and into lives that feel meaningful, grounded, and fully lived.

Episode 57: From Alcohol to Sobriety Empowerment: Sheila's Story

This is an extra special episode. Sheila was a private coaching client of mine, so it was pretty cool to sit down with her and reflect back on her journey and growth during our time together. It was a proud full circle moment for the both of us.

She is a mom, a wife and is now over 6 months Alcohol-Free.

Sheila reflects on her childhood perceptions of alcohol, her early experiences with drinking, and the impact of societal norms, particularly the 'mommy wine culture.'

She discusses the consequences of her drinking habits, the pivotal moment that led her to commit to sobriety, and the importance of community and accountability in her recovery.

Sheila emphasizes the positive changes in her life and relationships since becoming alcohol-free and expresses her desire to help others on similar journeys.

Episode 55: Logan hits 3 years SOBER- Pilates, Mocktails and a Dry December

In this empowering new episode, Megan sits down with Logan Hutt, a long-time SobahSistahs community member and dedicated Pilates instructor, whose alcohol-free journey began with our Dry December Group Coaching Program. At the moment of recording, Logan was celebrating her 3-year sober birthday — that very day.

Logan’s evolution over the past three years is nothing short of extraordinary. After spending nearly 20 years struggling with alcohol, she shares how sobriety helped her reconnect with her mind, body, and identity — both personally and professionally. Her story is filled with clarity, growth, and the kind of truth that inspires women everywhere who are questioning their own relationship with alcohol.

In this episode, Logan reflects on the turning point that brought her into the SobahSistahs community and how she has remained sober for three years without a single relapse. She opens up about the fear she once had of being alone with her thoughts — and the powerful realization that, without alcohol, her mind is not the dark or chaotic place she once believed it was.

As a Pilates instructor who teaches women to connect with their bodies, Logan explains how sobriety has amplified her personal alignment, emotional stability, and sense of purpose. She speaks about the freedom she’s discovered after dedicating decades to drinking and how she now sees the idea of ever going back as pure insanity.

Her insight is real, relatable, and deeply moving — especially for anyone who is still in the early stages of rebuilding trust in themselves.

Episode 54: The 4 Stages of Sobriety Awakening

Host: Megan Wilcox, Alcohol-Free Empowerment Coach & Founder of SobahSistahs — Crowned Best Sober Community

In this solo episode, Megan breaks down the Four Stages of Sobriety Awakening — her powerful framework for understanding where you are in your alcohol-free journey, how to move forward with compassion, and how to support others who might still be “asleep” or in the slipping loop.

This episode will help you see that sobriety isn’t just about quitting drinking — it’s about waking up to yourself, your truth, and your peace.

You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of your growth, a sense of self-compassion, and a renewed belief that you’re not behind — you’re awakening. 🌙

The truth behind the 4 Stages of Sobriety Awakening and how it mirrors the psychology of change.

  • You can’t change what you can’t see — awareness always comes before transformation.

  • Discomfort is not failure; it’s a sign you’re evolving.

  • Sobriety is less about willpower and more about awakening.

  • Everyone awakens at their own pace — hold empathy, not judgment.

  • When you reach awareness, you’re not better — you’re blessed.

Episode 53: Sobriety is the new EPIC with Sarah Treacy @TheSoberSherpa

In this episode of the SobahSistahs Podcast, I sit down with Sarah Treacy, better known as @TheSoberSherpa, founder of the Sober Adventure Collective and visionary behind Sobriety is the New Epic.

Sarah’s story is one of bold change and radical honesty. After two decades in corporate marketing, she made the life-changing decision to quit drinking in 2020 during COVID—a moment that gave her the space to reflect on the red flags she had ignored for too long. Now, she’s on a mission to prove that recovery isn’t boring, isolating, or restrictive—it’s adventurous, connected, and full of purpose.

We dive into what those first 90 days of sobriety really feel like, the joys and challenges of sharing your journey publicly, and how building a supportive sober community can transform not only your recovery but your life. Sarah also shares about her mentorship programs, retreats, and the global Sobriety is the New Epic speaker series that’s inspiring thousands to reimagine what alcohol-free living can look like.

  • Why recovery is anything but boring—it can be your greatest adventure.

  • How COVID gave Sarah the chance to reevaluate her relationship with alcohol.

  • The crucial role of the first 90 days in shaping your recovery journey.

  • Why noticing red flags early matters—and how ignoring them keeps you stuck.

  • How social circles change (and often deepen) when you quit drinking.

  • The importance of mentorship, retreats, and support programs in recovery.

  • Why sharing your sobriety story can inspire others and create ripple effects.

  • “COVID saved my life.”

  • “You can’t skip those hard days.”

  • “I thought sobriety was boring.”

Sarah’s wisdom and adventurous spirit will leave you inspired to see sobriety not as a limitation, but as the gateway to a life that’s bigger, bolder, and more connected than you ever imagined.

Episode 41: Seek: First at-home lab test that measures how alcohol impacts women’s health

30-Day Free Trial to the SobahSistahs Community

    Free Guide to Alcohol-Free Living

Katie Garry is the founder and CEO of Seek, the first at-home lab test that measures how alcohol impacts women’s health. Before starting Seek, Katie spent years trying to understand how alcohol impacted her own health.

After working her way through the traditional healthcare system, booking dozens of specialist appointments and spending thousands of dollars on medical bills, she ended up with more questions than answers, and decided to do something about it.
Seek measures how alcohol impacts our health the same way we use fitness trackers to monitor things like our heart rate, glucose levels and menstrual cycle. Katie founded Seek with the belief that it should be easy and affordable for every woman to get information about how alcohol impacts her health and track how it changes over time.

No surprise medical bills, no confusing lab reports, no struggling to fit in a doctor's appointment, and definitely no gaslighting. Just actionable insights, unique to our own bodies, on our own timelines.
Before building Seek, Katie spent over a decade working in marketing with brands like Modern Fertility (acquired by Ro) and Mirror (acquired by Lululemon). She started her career researching and writing about issues related to women’s health for Prevention magazine.

Katie has a B.S. in journalism and minor in creative writing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In her free time, you can find her on a yoga mat or walking around her neighborhood in Brooklyn with her dog, Polly.Take the Seek Quiz today and use code: sobahsistahs30 to receive 30% OFF

Episode 39: Azure's Sober Story and losing her little sister to alcohol related consequences at 29 years

30-Day Free Trial to the SobahSistahs Community

    Free Guide to Alcohol-Free Living

Grab the tissues for this one.

I sit down with Azure, the creator of sober.chronicles.

Azure is a mom, a wife, a hospice nurse and a sobriety advocate.

Azure recently hit 18 months of sobriety. Yay!

Her main inspiration that led her to examining her own relationship with alcohol, came after losing her little sister, Karenza, at only 29 years due to complications of liver failure.

"The kindest, funniest, clumsiest soul I have ever known suffered so silently that nobody, and I mean NOBODY knew. You would have never guessed when she walked into a room with her infectious smile and laugh.

She suffered from anxiety and insomnia and tried everything in her power to just try to sleep. Using prescription and over the counter sleep aids, in addition to wine, she tried desperately to calm her mind and rest.

But her liver couldn't handle it. She woke up one morning in full-fledged liver failure and battled it for 5 months before she died.

This entire account, all of the effort I put into making sure this doesn't keep happening to people, is to honor my sister. I will continue to educate about the harms of alcohol. I will continue to advocate for sobriety.

I will continue to use scare tactics if I have to.

Because this shit is REAL. And alcohol should scare you.
ESPECIALLY if it's used in conjunction with any type of anxiety medication and/or Tylenol PM.

I recover out loud so nobody like Karenza has to die in silence.

If you are struggling, PLEASE reach out. You are not alone.

You don't have to do this alone.

    You are loved."
