All new Rebel Republic with Coach Schuman, VOICE OF REASON FRANK CRISTIANO, and Steve Cully as we continue to dig into the government shutdown. Frank and Dave were disappointed with my hosting performance last week, so Frank took the reins. He started by asking whether we should provide aid and financial support to countries in Africa that need help. I said we have to take care of our problems at home before we do anything. Dave mentions how the longer the shutdown goes, the angrier people will become and we could see total backlash on all politicians, this was an intense episode of Rebel.
Coach Schuman, VOICE OF REASON FRANK CRISTIANO, and Steve Cully are back as we review election night. We break down the mayoral race in NY City, the Governors races in New Jersey and Virginia. Mamdani was victorious in NY but we firmly believe if Curtis Silwa had dropped out, Andrew Cuomo may have actually won, or had a better chance to. Sliwa took key votes away in important districts that would have made things interesting. Zohran Mamdani can sure talk the talk, but we are about to find out if he can walk the walk. Mikie Sherril is the new governor of New Jersey after dominating Jack Ciattarelli winning by 13 points. Both NY City and New Jersey had record turnouts for voters. In Virginia, democrat Abigail Spanberger was elected as the first female governor in the history of the state. Experts point out people and politicians are already fed up with Trump, this is only the beginning as midterm elections next year could change things significantly.
In a candid episode of the Small Town Life podcast, Village of Ilion Mayor John Stephens joined hosts Scott Kinville and Dave Warner to discuss pressing local issues.
Stephens provided an in-depth update on the village's ongoing water infrastructure project, which began in 2018 and is nearing completion with new filtration systems to address discoloration. He emphasized the need for patience from residents as flushing and repairs continue.
The conversation also delved into collaborative efforts among Mohawk Valley mayors, including shared services like code enforcement and office supplies to combat declining populations and rising costs.
Stephens highlighted challenges with the Remington Arms property, including security concerns, power needs for potential redevelopment (possibly as a data center), and the importance of holding owners accountable.
Stephens didn't hold back on regional struggles, from utility rate hikes to the potential dissolution of small villages if major projects fail.
In another episode of Carl Ulinski's Building Local Business podcast, electronics whiz Michael Taylor of Tailored Computer Care recounts his journey from self-taught coder and National Guard military police officer to full-time tech troubleshooter.
Kicking off as a 2009 side hustle amid deployments and night classes, Taylor hit pause on repairs—until a 2023 epiphany led him to ditch corporate gigs for good. Now thriving in Ilion's Central Plaza (next to LabCorp and Dollar General), he's rebuilt his shop bigger and better, partnering with the Ship & Print store for seamless shipping and printing synergies.
Seve Cully with Coach Dave Scuman, VOICE OF REASON FRANK CRISTIANO, and me as we continue to discuss the government shutdown. Small Business owners are unhappy and concerned as the shutdown enters its 5th week; they are losing billions of dollars in government funding. We talk about the outrageous cost of college tuition. For many schools, it's between 70 K and 90 K, and that's why this generation is disenfranchised. Kids are spending a small fortune, graduating with degrees, and expecting to start a 6-figure-income job. Frank and Dave discuss the loss of "sweat equity" as Frank shares that he grew up in a small house, while his father worked as much as he could to save money. After he scraped together enough cash, he started his own business, Tony's Pizzeria, in Washington Mills, which Frank runs today. Dave moved in with his father and built his company from the ground up, doing football camps. It took years to become successful. The guys believe social media has corrupted our society. Young people see these influencers driving nice cars, living in mansions, and they want it. Damn it, they spent $300,000 on a college education and deserve that lifestyle. They are impulsive and don't want to save money, work for that life; it has to happen NOW!
This week I talk about college football and the firing of coaches going on. Universities are spending so much money now on players, coaching salaries are high, they don't have time to wait. It has been hit or miss. We catch up on the NFL and do the NY Giants have a franchise QB in Jaxson Dart?
In the next episode, Judge Gregory Amoroso pulls back the curtain on a legal career that zigzagged from summer camp counselor to negotiating Woodstock '99 contracts at 3 a.m. On the latest episode of the Small Town Life podcast, host Dave Warner questions the lifelong Rome resident about his run for New York State Supreme Court – a seat covering six counties and over a million people.
With early voting just days away on October 25 and Election Day on November 4, Mayor Deborah Kaufman returned to The Inside View podcast for her sixth chat with host Ralph Renzulli, delivering a candid update on the city's fiscal tightrope, a pivotal ballot referendum, and glimmers of hope amid ongoing challenges.
Ralph Renzulli is back and interviews eleven of the twelve candidates who are running for City Council in Little Falls, New York.

All New Rebel Republic with Steve Cully and the VOICE OF REASON, FRANK CRISTIANO. Coach Schuman had to miss because his team was playing a game. We started by discussing the release of hostages, which Hamas provided after negotiations with President Trump and Israel followed soon after, doing the same. We dive deep into the Government shutdown. Is there an end in sight? Both Republicans and Democrats have drawn lines in the sand, and nobody seems ready to budge. Funny how in history, the longest government shutdown was in 2017, lasted 35 days, and it was with President Trump as well. He went after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Shumar, saying he is making poor decisions and the Democrats lack any kind of leadership. We finish by talking about New York City Mayoral Candidate Mr. Mamdani and the $13,000 that he received in campaign finance donations from outside the United States. It is illegal to accept foreign donations. Recently, his mother-in-law gave $500, and all the money will have to be returned. It's a simple drop in the bucket; Mamdani has a warchest that will blow the other candidates out of the water.
