The gripping Inspector Ryga mysteries full of twists and turns by Pauline Rowson "For lovers of mysteries without the gory details. The ending was a twist I didn't see coming." Amazon

Scotland Yard detective, Inspector Alun Ryga, a former German prisoner-of-war, teams up with former war photographer, Eva Paisley, to solve baffling coastal crimes around the coast of England in a great series which captures the era perfectly. Atmospheric, gripping, full of surprising twists and turns to keep the reader enthralled until the end.

" Inspector Ryga is an engaging lead character, shaped by his war-time experiences to be a sensitive, astute detective. The interesting setting of post-war Britain is soaked in atmosphere and I loved the complex, twisting plot. Historical crime-writing at its very best." Amazon

Why I chose the 1950s for my Inspector Ryga Mysteries and what has shaped his character

The 1950s is a fascinating era where memories of the war were still very strong and the fear of more world conflicts haunt people. The country was in the grip of austerity, with rationing still in force on some commodities, society and policing was vastly different to today. In this podcast I talk about what it was like in 1950s Britain, the background to my character, Inspector Ryga, how I created him and what has shaped him. The Inspector Ryga Mysteries.
