In this episode, we’re slowing down the January noise and having a different kind of conversation about fresh starts, overwhelm, and why home can feel so heavy this time of year.
January is supposed to feel hopeful, a clean slate filled with motivation, goals, and new energy. But for so many people, it doesn’t feel that way at all. It feels heavy, exhausting, and quietly overwhelming.
Today, we’re exploring why that heaviness makes sense, especially after a season of carrying so much, and why the answer isn’t reinventing yourself, fixing your home, or trying harder.
This episode is an invitation to step out of pressure and into a softer, more intentional reset. One that begins within.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt heavy or unmotivated in January when you “should” feel hopeful
Wondered why home feels hard even when things are technically working
Felt overwhelmed by the pressure to reset, declutter, or reinvent yourself
Managed your home and life well, but still felt restless or dissatisfied
Longed for a gentler, more meaningful way to move forward
We’ll explore:
Why things might be feeling heavy instead of hopeful
How cultural pressure, invisible labor, and mental load impact how home feels
Why overwhelm is a signal, not a personal failure
The difference between managing your home and leading it with intention
What a January reset can look like without reinvention or burnout
Why home truly starts within, and where to begin if you want change that lasts
If January feels heavy instead of hopeful, you’re not broken and you’re not behind. This episode is here to remind you that you don’t need a new version of yourself. You need fewer expectations, clearer direction, and support that honors where you are right now.
Take a deep breath. Start where you are. And remember. you don’t have to do this alone.

In this episode, we’re welcoming the New Year in a different way, slower, softer, and with far less pressure to rush into goals and resolutions.
January often arrives with loud expectations: new year, new you, big plans, fresh starts. But for many of us, especially after a long and full holiday season, the truth is we’re tired. Still recovering. Still integrating what the past year held.
Today’s episode is an honest reflection on post-holiday exhaustion, winter energy, and why the beginning of the year doesn’t have to be about hustle or doing more. Instead, we’re exploring what it might look like to rest, receive support, and finally stop doing it all alone.
I’m sharing personal reflections on my own relationship with the holidays and how cyclical living has reshaped the way I approach the New Year. We’ll also talk about my Word of the Year and how learning to receive support has led me to more intentionally ask for help, community, and shared leadership.
This episode is also an invitation to reimagine homemaking as meaningful leadership and to question the belief that women running households are meant to do everything by themselves.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt exhausted or relieved when the holidays were finally over
Struggled with New Year goal-setting because you’re still tired
Felt pressure to “do more” when what you really need is rest
Carried the mental and emotional load of home mostly on your own
Longed for community, support, or shared understanding in homemaking
We’ll explore:
Why January often isn’t the best time for big goals or bold action
How winter energy invites rest, reflection, and mindset work
What it really means to receive support and why it can feel vulnerable
Why learning to ask for help can be a powerful turning point
The parallels between running a business and running a household
Why homemakers deserve community, support, and shared wisdom
A new vision for homemaking that centers wellbeing, leadership, and connection
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by New Year pressure or quietly longing for more support at home, this episode is a reminder that you don’t have to do it all alone.
Maybe this is the year you take it slower. Maybe this is the year you ask for help. Maybe this is the year you let yourself be supported.
And that might change everything.

In this episode, we’re slowing things down and leaning into rest, especially in the quiet, blurry in-between week between Christmas and New Year’s. That strange stretch of time when routines are off, days blend together, and even though life feels slower… we don’t always feel rested.
This episode is an invitation to gently question why rest can feel so hard, even when we finally stop, and to consider what rest actually looks like in winter, when energy is naturally lower and the world invites us to soften rather than hustle.
We’re talking about rest through cyclical living, letting go of the pressure to rush into the new year, and exploring the different types of rest our bodies, minds, and hearts may be craving right now.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt tired even though you’ve been resting more
Expected this week to feel restorative… but it didn’t
Struggled with the pressure to “start fresh” in the new year
Felt caught between slowing down and needing to keep going
Longed for permission to rest without guilt
We’ll explore:
Why rest doesn’t always feel restful, especially this time of year
How winter and cyclical living invite a slower, gentler rhythm
Why rest isn’t a reward, but a requirement
The seven different types of rest, and how to recognize which one you need most
Simple, compassionate ways to lean into real rest during the in-between week and beyond
Whether you’re listening during the holidays or finding this episode later in the year, this conversation is here to remind you that you’re not doing rest wrong, you may just be needing a different kind of rest.
There’s no rush to become someone new. No need to override the season you’re in. Rest is allowed.
Let this episode be an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and enter this season, and the new year, feeling more supported, more grounded, and more at home within yourself.

In this episode of The Common Nest Podcast, we’re slowing things down to talk about a feeling so many of us experience after the holidays, but rarely talk about.
You’ve done your best. You showed up, carried a lot, and made it through a full holiday season at home. And now, you’re left feeling exhausted, disappointed, or emotionally flat.
Today’s conversation is about the expectation hangover, the quiet crash that can happen when our hopes for home and the holidays don’t match real life. We’ll explore why unmet expectations hit so hard, especially in our homes, and how to meet ourselves with compassion instead of criticism when the season doesn’t turn out the way we imagined.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt let down after the holidays, even when nothing “went wrong”
Wondered why you feel so tired, irritable, or low once the season ends
Carried the emotional and mental load of home and hoped it would feel different
Struggled with the pressure to be grateful when you’re actually exhausted
Longed for your home to feel supportive again instead of heavy
In this episode, we’ll explore:
What an expectation hangover is and why it’s so common during the holidays
The unspoken expectations many of us carry around home, family, and “doing it right”
Why disappointment at home can feel so personal and painful
Gentle reframes to support yourself before expectations turn into burnout
How to care for yourself when you’re already in a post-holiday crash
Ways to let your home become a place of recovery , and not performance
Whether this season felt joyful, disappointing, or a mix of both, this episode is an invitation to soften, reflect, and release the pressure to hold it all together. You’re not behind. You’re not failing. And you’re not meant to carry this alone.
Let’s tend to home from the inside out with honesty, compassion, and care.

In this episode, we’re slowing down and stepping gently into one of the most supportive practices: holiday boundaries. These are the loving limits that help you protect your energy, reduce overwhelm, and create a calmer, more meaningful holiday season.
The holidays can be beautiful… but they can also feel heavy. More expectations. More emotional labour. More decisions. More family dynamics. It’s a season that asks a lot of us, and often more than we have the capacity to give.
So today, we’re talking about the kind of boundaries that don’t shut people out, but instead make room for you. Boundaries create space for more rest, more joy, more presence, and the kind of holiday you actually want to experience.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt stretched thin by all the planning, preparing, hosting, and holding
Said “yes” when you were already overwhelmed or exhausted
Carried the invisible emotional load of “making the magic”
Felt guilty for wanting less - less pressure, fewer events, a slower pace
Tried to protect your peace in the midst of family expectations and old patterns
Needed permission to choose what feels right for you (and your kids)
We’ll explore:
Why boundaries matter more during the holidays than any other time of year
The cultural messages that make women feel responsible for everyone’s experience
How guilt, conditioning, and emotional labour make boundaries harder to set
Practical boundaries around time, energy, finances, responsibility, and emotional wellbeing
How to communicate boundaries with clarity and compassion
The mindset shift that turns boundaries into an act of love and giving for yourself and your family
Whether you’re feeling the weight of December already, or you’re longing for a slower, calmer holiday this year, this conversation is here to remind you that you get to choose the pace. You get to choose what you hold and what you gently set down. And you’re allowed to create a holiday that supports you, too.
Let’s take a deep breath, ease the pressure, and step into a season that feels lighter, calmer, and far more aligned with what matters most.

In this episode, we’re taking a gentle pause in the busiest, brightest, and most overwhelming time of the year, and talking about the real weight women carry in December. The invisible mental load, the emotional labour, the expectations, and the exhaustion that settles in deep.
We’re looking underneath of the holiday season, not the picture-perfect version, but the honest experience of trying to create a meaningful month while holding everything and everyone together. And we’re talking about what it actually takes to make your home feel calmer, softer, and more supportive when life feels heavy.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt completely overwhelmed by the holiday mental load
Wondered why December leaves you so drained and overstimulated
Tried to make everything magical while silently carrying the emotional weight
Felt responsible for the lists, the gifts, the meals, the schedules, and the memories
Craved a calmer, gentler, simpler season, and one that supports you, not exhausts you
We’ll explore:
What the “holiday mental load” really looks like and why you feel it so deeply
The emotional labour women carry at this time of year (even when we don’t talk about it)
Why you’re tired in your bones with the mix of social fatigue, sensory overload, and disrupted routines
Small shifts that create a big difference in how your home feels
Simple steps to reduce visual noise and emotional clutter
How to protect your energy and honour your natural rhythms during a busy season
Ways to create a home that feels like a soft place to land, even in December
Whether you’re holding a lot right now, craving some breathing room, or dreading the chaos of the holiday season, this conversation is here to remind you:
You can choose a gentler way. Let’s lighten the load, soften the season, and create a home that holds you with more calm, clarity, and care.

In this episode, we’re stepping into a conversation that so many women feel deeply but rarely say out loud, the weight of home. Not the laundry, the dishes, or the checklist… but the invisible load beneath it all: the expectations, the emotional labor, the mental juggling, and the stories we’ve inherited about what it means to “keep a home.”
Today, I’m exploring why so many of us feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or like we’re constantly trying to catch up, and why none of it means you’re failing.
You’re not overwhelmed because you’re weak, lazy, or behind. You’re overwhelmed because you were never meant to do home alone.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt like home is heavier than it “should” be
Wondered why you can’t seem to do it all anymore
Tried to carry the mental load without support
Felt guilty for needing help
Struggled with the stories you grew up believing about homemaking
Wished you had more guidance, community, or connection in your daily life
Longed for a village, even if you don’t know where to find one
We’ll explore:
The invisible load almost every woman carries
Why traditional homemaking systems were never designed for your wellbeing
The cultural stories and expectations shaping how we feel inside our homes
Why emotional, mental, and relational support matter just as much as physical help
The truth that mentorship and community aren’t modern trends, they’re ancient
What it actually means to build a village (it’s not doing everything together)
Why you’re not meant to walk this journey alone
How to reimagine support in a way that changes everything at home
Whether you’re overwhelmed, exhausted, or simply craving more clarity and connection, this episode is both a deep exhale and a gentle reframe, reminding you that support is not a luxury… it’s part of being human.
And because support is at the heart of everything we talk about today, I’m also sharing a overview of Black Friday Week, where you’ll find five days of offers designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you need clarity, routines, mindset shifts, practical tools, or personalized 1:1 guidance.
And I am extending all the deals for this weekend. All five offers are on sale until Cyber Monday, December 1st at midnight (MST).
If you’ve been longing for support, structure, encouragement, or a mentor to walk with you, this is your moment. Many of these offers can even be used in January, so you can enjoy the holidays now and start the new year with a fresh foundation.
Whether you’re navigating invisible load, rewriting old stories, or simply trying to breathe inside your own home, this episode is here to remind you:
You’re not failing. You’re simply carrying too much alone. And you don’t have to anymore.
Let’s step into this conversation together.

In this episode, we’re diving into a tender truth that’s been coming up again and again, in conversations with clients, in messages from listeners, and even in my own inner dialogue.
It’s that quiet ache of feeling behind at home… and the belief that the solution is simply to try harder.
Today’s conversation is about what’s really beneath the mess, the overwhelm, and the nonstop cycle of “keeping up.” It’s about the stories we carry, the pressure we put on ourselves, and the deeper reasons why home can feel hard, even when we’re giving it everything we have.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Looked around your home and wondered, “Why can’t I just keep up?”
Tried to push through with more effort, more discipline, or more motivation
Felt discouraged that the mess keeps coming back, no matter how hard you work
Questioned whether you’re doing something wrong
Longed for a home that feels like support, not pressure
We’ll explore:
Why “trying harder” isn’t creating the change you want, and why it’s not supposed to
How clutter, inconsistency, and overwhelm are actually signals, not failures
The hidden role your season, capacity, and emotional load play in your home
Why traditional homemaking advice leaves so many women feeling defeated
The power of alignment, and how your home shifts when your methods finally match your life
What a holistic, inside-out approach to home can unlock for your wellbeing
And because this conversation is at the heart of the work I do, I’m also sharing a little preview of something special coming next week: Black Friday Week - Five Days of Deals. Five days of gentle, supportive ways to help you create a home that feels calmer, clearer, and more aligned with your real life.
If your home has felt heavy… If you’re tired of pushing… If you’re craving a kinder way forward…
This episode is your permission slip to exhale, soften, and start seeing your home through a whole new lens.
Let’s untangle the pressure, lift the guilt, and step into a more aligned way of creating home, one that doesn’t demand more effort, but offers more ease.

In this episode, we’re slowing down to talk about care practices. The small, intentional rhythms that help us stay grounded, nourished, and supported as we head into the holidays.
While the to-do lists are getting longer, the days are actually getting shorter, and many of us are already running on empty, just trying to do more, give more, and be more for everyone around us.
This season doesn’t have to end in exhaustion. By setting up simple, non-negotiable care practices now, we can move through the holidays with more peace, presence, and joy, and truly care for ourselves in the process.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt like the holidays always leave you drained or depleted
Wanted to be more present but didn’t know how to slow down
Put everyone else’s needs before your own and felt guilty resting
Needed permission to make yourself a priority in your home
We’ll explore:
Why your energy naturally slows this time of year, and why that matters
What care practices really are (and what they’re not)
How to choose two or three non-negotiable care practices for the season
Tiny, realistic ideas to support your emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing
Practical ways to make these practices actually happen, even when you are busy
Whether you’re already feeling stretched thin or simply want this holiday season to feel calmer and more intentional, this episode will help you reconnect to yourself and create steadiness before the rush begins.
Let’s prepare your head, heart and home for the holidays, not by doing more, but by caring more deeply for yourself.

In this episode, we’re talking about something that comes up every single year - the holiday season.
You know that feeling as the decorations hit the stores (earlier and earlier), and suddenly we’re all supposed to be ready for the season... but inside, we feel anything but ready?
If you’ve ever felt like the holidays just happen to you, or like you’re so busy creating magic for everyone else that you forget to enjoy it yourself, this episode is for you. It is a conversation about doing things differently this year, with more calm, connection, and intention.
We’re slowing down to explore how to prepare your head, heart, and home for the holidays, so you can move through the season feeling grounded, peaceful, and present.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt overwhelmed by the expectations of a “perfect” holiday
Wanted to simplify, slow down, and create space for peace and joy
Longed to reconnect with the meaning behind the season
Wondered how to prepare early, so you can actually enjoy the holidays when they arrive
We’ll explore:
Why holiday overwhelm isn’t your fault, it’s a cultural pattern
The five foundations of a holistic holiday season: mindset, release, routines, decor, and cyclical living
Small, practical ways to create calm right now, before the busyness begins
How to shift from autopilot to alignment and rediscover joy in the season you work so hard to create
Whether you’re already sipping something festive or still resisting the sight of early-store décor, this conversation will help you find clarity, calm, and connection before the season begins.
Because peace isn’t something we find, it’s something we prepare for.

In this episode, we’re going back to the beginning, to a lightbulb moment that shaped The Common Nest and inspired the framework behind The Holistic Home Method.
I’m sharing the story of inspiration and how three simple words, Mindset, Motivation, and Methods helped me see home in a completely new way.
At the time, I was trying to create a clear, simple roadmap to help women create happier, healthier homes, spaces that honor our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing in the cultivation of home. But I couldn’t quite find the structure that brought it all together. Then, those three words landed like truth: Mindset. Motivation. Methods.
Everything clicked. And from that spark, The Holistic Home Method was born.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Tried to create change in your home but felt stuck or overwhelmed
Focused on routines or organization but still felt something was missing
Wondered how your mindset affects the way your home feels
Wanted your home to support your wellbeing, not drain it
We’ll explore:
What Mindset really means in the context of home and how the stories you tell yourself shape what feels possible
How Motivation becomes your why, and how to reconnect with it when your spark fades
Why Methods matter and how to create systems and routines that actually fit your life
How these three elements weave through the Five Foundations of the Holistic Home Method to create more flow, peace, and joy
Whether you’re decluttering, redesigning, or simply reimagining how home feels, this conversation will help you see that real transformation starts within.
Because when your mindset, motivation, and methods align, your home becomes more than something to manage, it becomes a reflection of who you are and what you truly value.
Let’s explore how to bring harmony to the what, why, and how of your home and rediscover the joy of creating home from the inside out.

In this episode, we’re exploring a truth that often gets lost in our culture of constant improvement — that your home doesn’t need fixing; it needs you.
Everywhere we turn, we’re surrounded by messages telling us to optimize, organize, and perfect — our routines, our spaces, even ourselves. But what if all this striving for “better” is actually keeping us from feeling at home right now?
In today’s conversation, we’ll look at what happens when we shift our focus from fixing our homes to loving them — and how that shift begins with the relationship we have with ourselves. Because home isn’t a project to perfect. It’s a relationship to nurture.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt pressure to constantly improve your home or yourself
Compared your space (or your life) to someone else’s highlight reel
Attached your worth to how your home looks or how productive you are
Wanted to feel more grounded, peaceful, and connected in your space
We’ll explore:
How the culture of optimization creates disconnection — at home and within
Why your relationship with yourself sets the tone for your entire home
What it means to treat your home like a relationship instead of a project
How small, mindful acts of care can become powerful expressions of self-love
How compassion for yourself ripples outward to the people you live with
Why “Home Starts Within” — and how this truth changes everything about how we create home
Whether your house feels chaotic or your inner world feels cluttered, this episode is a gentle reminder that peace doesn’t come from perfection — it comes from connection.

Wanted to make your home cozy but got stuck in clutter or perfectionism

We’ll explore:
Why cozy corners matter more than a whole-house overhaul
How to use intention and the five senses to guide your decorating choices
Simple, minimal seasonal touches that make the biggest impact
The one swap-in, swap-out rule to avoid clutter and overwhelm
Ways to bring joy and personality into your fall décor with natural and personal touches

In this episode, we’re exploring why fall cleaning might be just as, if not more, important than spring cleaning.
We often think of spring cleaning as the big reset, the time to throw open the windows, shake out the rugs, and start fresh. But fall cleaning has its own purpose: preparing your home for coziness, connection, and the season ahead. This is when we move inward, and our homes hold us most deeply.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Wondered what the difference really is between spring and fall cleaning
Felt the weight of clutter hanging over you as routines pick up again
Wanted to create a calmer, cozier home before the holiday season
Needed encouragement that slow progress is still progress
We’ll explore:
Why fall cleaning is about preparing your home and energy for the months ahead
The key areas of your home that benefit most from a seasonal reset (mudroom, pantry, closets, winter accessories, and living spaces)
How decluttering and organizing are about more than aesthetics, they’re about energy and flow
Simple ways to celebrate your progress, even if it feels small
How to set yourself up for a smoother, more nourishing season at home
Fall is the perfect time to reset. Let’s use this season’s energy to clear what’s been hanging over us, prepare for what’s ahead, and create a home that feels calm, supportive, and ready to hold us well.

In this episode, we’re leaning into the quiet shift of the season — the rhythm of fall. The crisp mornings, the golden light, the trees letting go of their leaves… fall invites us to do the same. To prepare, to gather in, and to create spaces that feel nurturing and supportive for the months ahead.
Today, we’re exploring the pull we feel toward our homes in this season - the urge to declutter, cozy up, and prepare - and why that pull doesn’t always translate into action. Life is busy, energy dips, and even when we know what we want, follow-through can feel impossible.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt the urge to refresh or cozy up your home, but didn’t know where to start
Found yourself overwhelmed by clutter, routines, or decorating
Wanted your home to support you, but felt too drained to make it happen
Wondered how to create real change in your home without burnout
Needed support and accountability to follow through on your intentions
We’ll explore:
Why fall is such a powerful season for your home
The natural wisdom of fall and how it mirrors what our homes (and hearts) need
Why we often get stuck, even when we want to make changes
A simple reflection to help you notice the space that’s calling for your attention
The difference that personal support, coaching, and accountability can make
How to start small, focus on one space, and see ripple effects throughout your home
If you’ve been feeling that little whisper and that pull toward home, this episode is here to remind you that you are not alone. Change is possible, and even small steps create lasting impact.
Let’s lean into this season together, embrace the rhythm of fall, and create a home that supports the life you love.

In this episode, we’re wrapping up the Holistic Home Quiz podcast miniseries with the fifth and final type: The Energy Aligner.
This type is for you if your energy feels out of sync with your home and your life, if seasonal shifts leave you feeling drained or scattered, or if you’ve ever wondered why you can’t just stay “consistent” like the world tells you to. The Energy Aligner knows deep down that life isn’t linear—it’s cyclical. And when we align our homes with these natural rhythms, we create a space that flows with us instead of against us.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Felt burnt out by trying to keep up with constant productivity
Wondered why routines never seem to stick for long
Noticed your moods, motivation, or energy rise and fall like the seasons
Longed for a more peaceful, nurturing flow in your home
We’ll explore:
Why so much of our home struggle comes from forcing a linear way of living
What Cyclical Living really means—and why it matters
The four rhythms that shape our homes and lives: body, moon, seasons, and life stages
How honoring cycles can help you move from survival mode to deeper trust and joy
Why rest isn’t a reward, but a requirement—and how to embrace it without guilt
Whether you’re noticing the pull of the moon, shifting with the seasons, or simply learning to listen to your body’s natural flow, this conversation will help you discover the beauty of living in rhythm.

In this episode, we’re continuing the Holistic Home Quiz mini-series, where I introduce the five types from the quiz What’s Holding You Back from a Happier, Healthier Home? Each type reflects a unique challenge in creating the home and life you long for.
Today’s focus is on The Routine Refiner - the type for those who struggle with consistency, time management, and systems that stick. If you’ve ever felt like your home tasks pile up faster than you can tackle them, or like you’re constantly running behind, this one is for you.
A Routine Refiner craves structure and balance. The challenge area is time and the solution is to begin building plans and routines that bring ease, flow, and steadiness. This episode is here to help you see how routines aren’t about doing more, but about creating freedom by doing less scrambling, less catching up, and less chaos.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever:
Struggled to stay consistent with routines at home
Felt like you’re always behind or playing catch-up
Wanted systems that make life feel calmer and more predictable
Wondered how routines can actually create more freedom, not less
We’ll explore:
Why routines matter for your mental health, family life, and sense of calm
The surprising benefits of simple, steady rhythms in your day
Common myths about routines (and why they aren’t rigid, boring, or overwhelming)
Practical steps from the Holistic Home Plans & Routines:
The Daily Dozen
Weekly Tasks
House Zones
Cyclical Living
Whether you’re ready to refine your rhythms, or just need permission to start small, this episode will remind you that progress comes from consistency, not perfection. Even one little routine, like a nightly kitchen reset, can shift the tone of your entire home.
