God sent Elijah into the wilderness with no resources and later to a widow who had nothing. In both cases, God provided. Life is filled with big, defining moments—sometimes shocking and heartbreaking ones. In these moments, our natural instincts and the voices of culture often demand quick, reactive responses. But God’s way is different. Just as Elijah was told to lie low after confronting Ahab, and just as Paul exhorted believers in Romans 12, the Christian response is shaped by love, patience, and overcoming evil with good. In Christ, we can resist the false gods of politics, culture, and self, and remain centered on Jesus as Lord.
